For some time now, the mid-size SUV segment in the Indian market was seeing quite a few entrants. After the launch of Skoda Yeti and Hyundai Santa Fe, Volvo India today brought in its own latest weapon – the XC60.
The Volvo XC60 comes equipped with a 2.4-litre five-cylinder diesel engine, which has the capacity to churn out 205bhp of power and 420Nm of torque. The Swedish car manufacturer is well known for its safety and it claims that the XC60 is the safest Volvo among the others that are currently sold in India. The safety features in the Volvo XC60 include Adaptive Cruise Control with Distance Alert, Collision Warning with Auto Brake, Lane Departure Warning, DSTC anti-skid system, and anti-locking disc brakes and optimised hydraulics among others.

The Volvo XC60 will come as Completely Built Unit (CBU) with the fourth-generation Haldex clutch to transmit power to the rear wheels, when it senses loss of traction on the front wheels. The same system is used in vehicles such as Skoda Superb V6, Skoda Yeti and the Land Rover Freelander 2. The XC60 will come with three active chassis modes – Comfort, Sport and Advanced. The other feature is the turn with steering headlamps which will enhance the visibility at night.
The Volvo XC60 will be available in a range of 9 attractive colour shades including Saville Grey Metallic, Black Stone, Terra Bronze Metallic, Barents Blue Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Ice White, Flamenco Red Metallic, Seashell Metallic, and Electric Silver Metallic.

The Volvo XC60 has been priced very competitively at Rs 39.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 41.41lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai with octroi). But that should not be a problem. If book the car today, you stand a chance to get discount of 60% thanks to Reliance Insurance which believes the car has a lot of features to keep it safe.
