On its tenth year commencement the Toyota Kirloskar has called the respected dignitaries; Mr. R Ashoka, Hon’ble Minister for Home & Transport, Govt. of Karnataka, Deputy Mayor, Mr. L Srinivas, Bangalore, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Ms K Padmavathi, Bangalore- South and Block Education officer Mr. Kempaiah, Bangalore South along with other corporate, school teachers & children.
At their presence Mr. K. Srikanth, Senior Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, handed over the books and bags to the school children. Mr. K Srikanth said “We at Toyota believe that education does not only build a strong foundation for growing children but also fosters a sound basis of a society. Every child has the right to be educated and no child should be deprived of such a right. Toyota is committed to provide the basic education to rural poor school children to improve the literacy level of the state and thereby create better society which benefits the nation and economy. The tenth year in which we have undertaken this initiative to further the cause of education. We had started this initiative in 2003 and today we have reached out to more than 7,500 students from 118 schools. We believe in growing together with the local community by fostering a long lasting relationship with them,”
The initiative program was at 2003, Toyota has been brought into fold ten schools every year. From the count it has covered 118 schools till the current year 2012. The contributions are made to Government schools which have been identified by the Block Education Officer, where the majority of students are from economically underprivileged. This year above 40,000 note books and above 800 bags is been distributed to the identified schools.
As a responsible corporate, Toyota Kirloskar has initiated many local community development activities in and around Bidadi. Focusing on key activities in the development of the local people like – Providing sanitation facilities, conducting health camps and also emphasizing on safety education to school children’s, creating eco conscious mind in children and by providing basic infrastructures.
