It’s shocking to know that old cars were more fuel efficient than the ones being produced nowadays. With the growing air pollution and fuel price hike, the issue of fuel efficiency has gained importance among buyers. Now, consumers are taking special interest to know the mileage of a car they wish to buy. CSE (Centre of Science and Environment) has estimated that cars manufactured post 2000 with 1.4-litre engines emit 143 gm/km of carbon dioxide which is much less compared to 173 gm/km emissions by 2005 models with the same engine. Overall, the fuel efficiency has dropped from 16 km/litre to 13 km/litre.
The number of car buyers has increased several fold across the country. Consumers have become conscious of what they want to buy and desire to know the exact technical details of car models. Fuel economy is now a top priority when it comes to buying cars.

Now-a-days, there’s a great demand for
used cars in
India. It’s difficult to figure out the exact reason for this. It’s most probably because cars have now become very affordable to most middle class families. Small cars like Maruti 800, Chevrolet Spark, and Santro Xing are available at very attractive prices. To be able to buy
new cars and better cars, people are selling off their old cars without giving much thought to the actual re-sale value of the car. This has led to a rise in the used car business. It has turned out to be very lucrative business.
Many car manufacturers are cashing in on this trend. Maruti came out with their TrueValue service some time back. Hyundai called their business “Hyundai Exchange”. Now, Toyota has started its own used car outlet in New Delhi. They are calling it “U Trust”. They are looking forwarding to helping people pick-up good used cars at minimal prices and are also providing financing options as a value-added service.
