When it comes to dreaming of owning super luxury cars and luxury cars contrary to the popular environment friendly cars, people in India do not take a backseat. In a global survey done by a research firm Synovate, at least 47 percent of Indians responded that they loved to flaunt luxury cars, while 30 percent of the people from India chose environment friendly cars. Experts believe the survey result was the mirror image of the stupendous economic growth potential of India in years to come. The luxury car brands have been making bee lines to India lately when compared to the rest of the world. Sales of luxury cars have been consistent compared to the small car segment. The passion for luxury cars amongst the Indian public is also the reason why the top luxury car brands are flocking to India even though the market size is a puny 6,000-7000 units a year. Big luxury car brands like Mercedes Benz and BMW have established assembly plants in India. Meanwhile other exotic car brands like Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Bentley, Jaguar and Land Rover have a healthy market in India. Italian car manufacturer Fiat has already shown interest to bring in Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands to India. Further, luxury car brands have introduced new cars with the latest technology just like Porsche Cayenne Hybrid. Hence India is in a position to bypass the phase of fuel guzzling luxury cars. The country has been receiving the newest of luxury cars with higher fuel economy since last year. In the same survey India also stood out in 38 per cent of Indians saying they wanted to buy a new car in the next one year against the global average of 15 per cent. Imitated Rolls-Royce Phantom has amazed car manufacturers across the globe. Rolls-Royce Phantom is one such car that many car buyers just dream to buy. For such dreamers a Chinese car manufacturer has introduced an imitated version of the Phantom that looks strikingly similar to the expensive beauty on wheels but is much cheaper. The imitated copy is actually the Chinese philosophy of repeating what the west is doing and creating outstanding copies of beautiful and original creations. Named as Geely GE, the artistically copied Phantom has dazzled the car enthusiasts. The shape, design, cues, and the style are all similar to the traditionally unique Phantom. Even the large chrome grille, slender tail lamps, and sculpture of a winged creature on the nose are all similar to what adorns the beauty of the Phantom. The interior of the car is quite different from the beautiful ambience of the Phantom. Though it holds some elegance, it is a bit eccentric and is still comfortable to make worthwhile ride. Mumbai streets were more sublime and warm on April 5, 2009. The sunny Sunday when people normally desire to stay within the shelters of their homes because of the prickling heat and humidity had transformed into a sublime Sunday because of the Parx Super Car Show held at Kala Ghoda in Mumbai. The show was an excellent and exhilarating parade of finest sports and luxury car. Infact the key aim of introducing such a kind of event was to bring together all like-minded individuals and car enthusiasts who own and have a passion of cars especially cars that lead admiring glances and envious stares. The event was flagged by former Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan. The Managing Director of Raymond Mr Gautam led the entourage of supercars in his Lamborghini Gallardo. Other participating cars in the show were from top brands like AMG, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Porsche, and Rolls Royce. And all these were driven from Kala Ghoda to Siddhi Vinayak Temple and back through Walkeshwar and Breach Candy. For the onlookers the parade of the most scintillating and impressive cars was the most spectacular sight. Organized by Autocar India and Bellset, the Parx Supercar Show is expected to travel to other cities including Delhi and Bangalore. Suicide doors were common in the traditional cars but are rarely found in modern cars. These are doors that are hinged to the trailing edge of the car, an edge closer to the rear of the vehicle. They are commonly called as "rear-hinged doors" "coach doors", and "freestyle doors" by manufacturers instead of the name suicide door due its negative connotation. You must be wondering then why the name suicide is even used? It’s nothing strange because the name clearly indicates the danger associated with the doors as there are chances of its falling if its remain unlatched. When driving at high speed the fast moving air surrounding the car creates a low pressure area around that acts as an outward force to open the door. And just imagine what will happen if the car’s door suddenly open out at high speed. The occupant will be thrown out of the car if not wearing a seatbelt. The key advantage of the suicide doors is that they provide an easy entry and exist for the occupants. But passengers from both the front and rear cannot exit or enter the car simultaneously unless the car is too large in its structure. For such an insignificant advantage, no car manufacturer can put the passenger’s life on toll. Today these doors are found in some of the cars but are placed in such a way that it cannot be opened unless regular front doors are opened. You’ll find a pack of suicide and regular front doors in a couple of modern cars including the imposing Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe. They are also been used in some of the modern day concept cars. Labels: Car-Manufacturers, Concept-Cars, Rolls-Royce-Cars

Can you believe that one of the Rolls Royce, the most luxurious car among the super-expensive cars, sold 11 cars in India in 2007? I stumbled on this piece of info while looking out for any Classic Cars drive through happening in Delhi. Out of these eleven, ten were RR Phantom with different widths and one was a RR Phantom Drophead Coupe – the one officially coming to India soon. The price? Upwards of Rs. 3 Crores. That’s a lot of money huh? These stats got me to thinking that money is no more a big deal (except for people like me) for more number of people now than the number of people 10 years back. I mean, if I had 3 Crores, I wouldn’t spend it on a car – no matter how cool it is, I would rather spend it on buying a big house and other luxury items! But apparently, all that matters to some people is their social status and even though I might sound cynical of these people, I sure do wish I was one of them! Rolls-Royce has picked up its global car sales by 25% as compared to their figures in 2006. Apparently, this is the first time ever that Rolls-Royce has reached four digit sales figures after going global in 2003. They returned to India after a gap of 50 years, launching the Phantom super luxury sedan in 2005. The Phantom has been very popular in India. Apart from India, Rolls-Royce saw outstanding sales in the U.A.E. and China where the car manufacturer has grown by more than 50%. However, North America still remains the biggest single market for Rolls-Royce. Labels: Car-manufacturers-in-India, Luxury sedan, Rolls-Royce-Cars

Passion for cars has been carried over from the days of the Maharajas. Unlike today, there were no traffic jams in their time and size of the car was never an issue. There was unbounded freedom to modify cars. In 1912, the Maharaja of Nabha in Punjab owned a Rolls Royce which he had transformed to look like a swan. The metal bird looked amazing with a Gabriel horn that had eight organ pipes and a keyboard. It also had two levers - one opened the beak of the swan and the other sent hot water from the radiator into the swan’s nostril to make a hissing sound. Such passion for creativity with cars is very rare these days.
The unique idea was not only a huge success in India but also shined in England. Though this crowd puller was eventually banned from the streets as it caused traffic snarls, it still remains in the hearts of car lovers. Labels: Indian car accessories, Rolls-Royce-Cars, Vintage cars

How would you like if someone gifts you a car? WOW! And what would be your reaction when you realized it was a luxury car? Hmm… No words right? Now hold your breath for those real ones. As a token of appreciation our legendry Amithab Bachchan was gifted with Rs. 3.5 crore Rolls Royce Phantom for his outstanding performance in the movie ‘Eklavya’ by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Big B has gifted a Bentley car, imported from London to his son Abhishek Bachachan on his 31st birthday. That’s not all; there is another piece of information attached to it. Reliable sources reported that the hefty custom duty some was paid by their close family friend and a politician Amar Singh. Now is this a gift from his dad or Amar Singh is still under cover. It is becoming a trend among the celebrities to gift a car for any occasion. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan loves gifting too. Three years ago, for his film ‘Main Hoon Na’, he had gifted Hyundai Terracan to Farah Khan and recently happy with her direction for ‘Om Shanti Om’, he gifted a Mercedes Benz of worth Rs.40 Lakh. If the trend of gifting cars goes on, then our automobiles sector will definitely be on the top position in terms of sales. Good going… Labels: Gifts, luxury cars, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce-Cars

Now you can drive your dream car. Clueless? We are talking about Rolls Royce. The legendary carmaker has recently unveiled its latest creation, the Phantom Drop head Convertible in Mumbai. Rolls-Royce entered the Indian market with its super luxury Phantom. Like all Rolls Royce, the Phantom Drophead too carries a royal appeal. The fact that its design is inspired by J-Class racing yachts of the 1930s is evident from its long bonnet, large rear teak deck and white yacht-type rear curved seats. Its short stature ensures improved handling and a spirited drive. Positive worldwide response catapulted the 100EX concept car into a full-fledged luxury coupe. It has already received overwhelming response from a new and diverse clientele with more than half of the orders coming from customers who’ve never owned a Rolls-Royce. The company has already sold 100 units of the car worldwide and is very hopeful of the car doing well in the Indian market. It has sold 15 sedans in India this year. It’s planning to open its second Indian dealership in New Delhi. The first was opened in Mumbai in 2005. This is one car you need not brag about. A mere mention of it inspires an august feeling and a single look casts a spell. Labels: Concept cars, luxury cars, Phantom, Rolls-Royce-Cars
