With the rising air pollution and fuel prices, new innovative and advanced engines are the need of time. It is the engine that actually drives the car and influences the way cars perform and produce emissions. Also, the increasing consumers’ interest in fuel-efficient and nature-friendly vehicles are soaring the demand of innovative engines.
Eyeing the current market, Maruti Suzuki has just unveiled its new generation K series engine named as K12M. This new engine is proudly India’s first engine compliant to BS IV emission norms and will offer best-in-class fuel efficiency and performance. The new engine will also reduce emissions and lower NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness).
The new engine retains the technical superiority and fuel efficiency that Maruti offered with the first generation K series engine that is presently fitted in the Maruti Suzuki A-Star. But with this Maruti moves a step ahead in its efforts to produce fuel efficient and green engine technology for car buyers in India. Gladly, it also strengthens its focus on maximizing the environmental benefits.
The new and powerful K12M engine will be fitted in Maruti’s forthcoming premium compact car, the Ritz. The introduction of this green engine in the proposed car will definitely increase the worth of the car in the Indian car market. By introducing the new K series engine just before the launch of Ritz, Maruti has simply developed a strong platform for the upcoming car.

After receiving the green signal from ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology) for its 6th global car ‘Ritz’, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the car soon in the Indian car market. The Ritz is speculated to replace the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and is expected to hit the Indian roads by this May.
Ritz will come fitted with a 1.2-litre KB series petrol engine as well as 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine with a price tag ranging from Rs 4 Lakh to Rs 5 Lakh. The car is known as Splash in Europe and other developed markets and will be positioned below the sporty Swift and above the global car A-star in India. Though it will carry a very spacious cabin because of its high roof structure just like the Wagon R, it will be slightly shorter than the Swift.
Ritz is the 9th small car from Maruti Suzuki’s stable that will compete with the Hyundai i10, Skoda Fabia, Ford Fusion, Fiat Palio and the Tata Indica Vista. Though a confirm date is not yet decided but it is expected to make its presence in the Indian car market before the Honda Jazz and the Fiat Grande Punto.

In December we had informed about Maruti Suzuki planning to launch a new small car in India. The new car which was earlier named as ‘Splash’ will now enter the Indian car industry with a new name called Ritz. Hailing from the B+ car segment, Ritz is festooned with a host of advanced technologies along with splashy interiors.
Most of the car enthusiasts are aware of this. But we have some more to add onto this. The upcoming model has cleared the whole vehicle test approval ceremony conducted by the International Centre of Automotive Technology (ICAT). After clearing all the tests, Ritz now gets the green signal from ICAT to roll out into the Indian car market.
ICAT is a part of National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) that plays a vital role in the development of automobile industry in the country. At present it’s working on the expansion of its Manesar plant with an investment of Rs 440 Crore. The plant will get an additional land area of 46 acres and will be equipped with a power-train laboratory, engine dynamometers, an emission laboratory with Euro V capability, a passive safety laboratory as well as vehicle test tracks.
