Remember the Frankfurt Motor Show? TechArt had disclosed its first customization program for the Porsche Panamera at the auto show. It brought the TechArt Concept One to the Geneva Motor Show. Now, TechArt has decided to come up with something new. We have info on the new tuning kit called Black Edition from TechArt. We have seen lots of them. Yes, we are talking about the strict black and white outfit sported by other kits. This edition has something different. It flaunts a matte black exterior paint and a black daytime running light system. It’s awesome. Even the exterior components across the board are black and the masterpiece sports deep black 22" Formula II light alloy wheels. These are the exteriors of the deep black and powerful four- seater. What about the car’s interiors? The interior of the Porsche Panamerafollows the same design. It has dashing black leather interiors combined with alcantara in contrast to the attractive stitching and leather piping in flamenco red. The ambience is heavenly. All interior components too including the trims, door entry guards, cup holder, and air vents exhibit themselves in the best matte black painted design giving the car a brilliant look. Black, no doubt, is a well-liked color for lot many things. But, when we talk of black cars, it is something very different. Don’t you think so? It brings a smile on the face. Just recently we have had the joy of seeing a few cars from automotive majors like Nissan and Mercedes in black. We had the Nissan 370Z Black Edition, the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series, and the Matte Black Lamborghini Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster. All of these cars, festooned in all black just like this Porsche Panamera, look marvelous. The Porsche Panamera S comes packed with a 400 bhp V8 motor allowing for a 0-97 kmph jump within a time frame of 5.2 seconds. The Panamera 4S is powered by the same 400 bhp V8 engine, while the Porsche Panamera Turbo derives its power from a turbocharged V8 motor making 500 bhp allowing for a 0-97 kmph leap in just 4.0 seconds. The black in the 2010 Porsche Panamera by TechArt can mean a lot. It can symbolize characteristics like dominance, individuality, independence and experience. These concepts exemplify TechArt and its customers. The combined experience and individuality of TechArt is what has given the Panamera its appearance and so we call it the TechArt Black Edition. Superiority and accuracy in every detail – That is typical TechArt. Labels: Black-Car, Black-Edition, Mercedes, Nissan, Porsche, Porsche-Panamera

Porsche, on Monday, scored a homerun when it unveiled its latest take on environmentally friendly performance technology, the 918 Spyder Hybrid Concept. The Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid Concept is an ultra-efficient, low-emission, mid-engine super sports car that features hybrid and electric drive technology. Mated to a 500 bhp V8 engine with a trio of electric motors that churn out 214 bhp, it would not be an overstatement if we called it a hyper-hybrid car. The Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid Concept is the perfect combination of high-tech racing features and electric-mobility. It has emission level that is as low as 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer and fuel consumption of only three liters/100 kilometers would definitely put any compact city car to shame. This machine with its super sports car performance, accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just under3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 320 kmph. This open two-seater has a V8 engine that produces more than 500 horsepower and a maximum engine speed of 9,200 rpm, as well as electric motors on the front and rear axle with overall output of 218 horsepower. It has Porsche's very own seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission that feeds the power of the electric drive system to the rear axle. The front-wheel electric drive powers the wheels through a fixed transmission ratio. The electric motor is powered by fluid-cooled lithium-ion battery positioned behind the passenger cell. In this plug-in hybrid system, the battery can be charged on the regular electrical network and when brakes are applied, the car's kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy, which enhances acceleration. The Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid offers four driving modes that include E-Drive mode, for running the car under electric power alone, the Hybrid mode, which uses both the electric motors and the combustion engine, the Sport Hybrid mode that uses both drive systems and focuses on performance, the Race Hybrid mode in which the drive systems are focused on pure performance with the highest standard of driving dynamics on the track. Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid is one speed machine which has got it all: high performance, fuel efficiency, and long electric range. Let’s wait for the day when it goes in production. It is official now. The new Porsche Cayenne range will make its grand appearance at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show and the absolute show stopper would be the Cayenne S hybrid. Everyone is waiting for the unveiling of the new Cayenne hybrid which is poised to prove the green credentials of Porsche. Cayenne S Hybrid brings the power of an 8-cylinder engine with the fuel economy and emission rate of a 6-cylinder. It features a highly sophisticated parallel full hybrid drive with fuel consumption of just 8.2 litres/100 kilometres, which means CO2 emissions of just 193 g/km. This again means that the Cayenne S Hybrid is the cleanest in the history of both Cayenne and Porsche. The new Porsche Cayenne range is going to set new fuel efficiency and performance standards. Compared to the former Porsche models, fuel efficiency has improved in the new Cayenne by 23%, thanks to the “Porsche Intelligent Performance” principle which strives on more power with less fuel and lower CO2 emission. The agility and handling has been improved with the new active and extra-light all-wheel drive concept which has brought the weight on Cayenne S down by 180 kilos. These features and new technologies will increase the driving pleasure of Cayenne, both on road and off-road. The wheelbase of the 2011 Cayenne is now 40 mm or almost 1.6” longer which makes it more spacious. Nevertheless, the new generation Cayenne is far more compact and dynamic that its predecessor. The Cayenne diesel Turbo comes with a 3 litre V6 engine which reduces fuel consumption by 20 per cent, down from 9.3 to 7.4 ltr/100 km. Fuel consumption has significantly gone down on the very torquey Cayenne S with its 4.8-litre V8 power unit. Cayenne S is even more powerful with its 4.8-litre V8 power unit and generates 400 bhp instead of the former 385 bhp. With the intelligent combination of the three-litre supercharged V6 and the electric motor, Cayenne S Hybrid brings out maximum efficiency and performance. Depending on the driving conditions, the vehicle shifts between either one drive unit operating or both the units operating simultaneously. Shortly after its Geneva debut, the Cayenne is likely to hit the UK market in May. India will be certainly on the list after India proves it is ready for the Hybrid technology. In a twist of fate, exactly 110 years after Ferdinand Porsche developed the world’s first car with hybrid drive, a similar visionary drive has been taken up by Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart to bring out the concept in production-based GT racing. Come this Geneva Motor Show and Porsche will debut their Porsche 911 GT3 R with innovative hybrid drive, which also opens up a new chapter in the history of Porsche with more than 20,000 wins in 45 years scored by the extremely successful Porsche 911 in racing trim. The innovative hybrid technology featured in the car has been developed especially for racing, standing out significantly in its configuration and components from conventional hybrid systems. In this case, electrical front axle drive with two electric motors developing 60 kW each supplements the 480-bhp four-litre flat-six at the rear of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid. A further significant point is that instead of the usual batteries in a hybrid road car, an electrical flywheel power generator fitted in the interior next to the driver delivers energy to the electric motors. The flywheel generator itself is an electric motor with its rotor spinning at speeds of up to 40,000 rpm, storing energy mechanically as rotation energy. The flywheel generator is charged whenever the driver applies the brakes, with the two electric motors reversing their function on the front axle and acting themselves as generators. Then, whenever necessary, that is when accelerating out of a bend or when overtaking, the driver is able to call up extra energy from the charged flywheel generator, the flywheel being slowed down electromagnetically in the generator mode and thus supplying up to 120 kW to the two electric motors at the front from its kinetic energy. This additional power is available to the driver after each charge process for approximately 6 - 8 seconds. Energy formerly converted – and thus wasted – into heat upon every application of the brakes, is now highly efficiently converted into additional drive power. Depending on racing conditions, hybrid drive is used in this case not only for extra power, but also to save fuel. This again increases the efficiency and, accordingly, the performance of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid, for example by reducing the weight of the tank or making pitstops less frequent. After its debut in Geneva the 911 GT3 R Hybrid will be tested in long-distance races on the Nürburgring. The highlight of this test programme will be the 24 Hours on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring on May 15th and 16th. The focus is not on the 911 GT3 R Hybrid winning the race, but rather serving as a spearhead in technology and a “racing laboratory” providing know-how on the subsequent use of hybrid technology in road-going sports cars. The 911 GT3 R Hybrid is a perfect example of the Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy, a principle to be found in every Porsche: More power on less fuel, more efficiency and lower CO2 emissions – on the track and on the road. The newest Porsche is here and how? The Porsche 911 Turbo which was there in the market gets a new boost of energy with the introduction of the Turbo S. The engineers at Porsche have developed a new, more powerful and faster 911 Turbo S. This turbocharged flat-six at the heart of this new model, has been tuned to produce close to 523 bhp, 30 bhp more than the ‘standard’ 911 Turbo and boasts a whopping 700 N.m of torque. At the same time this new top model comes as standard with all high-tech components available only as options on the 911 Turbo. Porsche claim that despite its significant increase in power, the new 911 Turbo S does not consume any more fuel than the Porsche 911 Turbo, at 11.4 l/100km. How cool is that? The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with Porsche’s seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) gearbox, conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Driving safety has been raised to an even higher standard, with the use of dynamic engine mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle. In conjunction with launch control on the Sport Chrono Package, the 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds. Top speed is 315 km/h. Extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) ensures excellent stopping power. The level of standard equipment, including Dynamic Bending Lights; 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking; adaptive sports seats; exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue, underlines the premium nature of this, the first Turbo S in five years, over the standard 911 Turbo. The 911 Turbo S is now on par with the mighty GT2. The Turbo S boasts 20 N.m more torque and a 0-100 km/h time some 0.4 seconds faster. The GT2 still reigns in outright speed however, at 329 km/h. Expect Porsche to drop their new 3,8-litre capacity boxer engine into the GT2 soon, to keep it firmly at the head of the chasing 911 pack. The Porsche Turbo S will debut at this year’s Geneva motor Show and go on sale in Europe shortly thereafter. Since Porsche sees a emerging market for its products here in India, they might as well bring this model in pretty soon. Hold on for this piece of information. 2011 Porsche Cayenne seems to be in a hurry to come out of the closet. Just a couple of months before its planned unveiling at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, this 2011 Porsche Cayenne which shares the ladder-frame with that of the Volkswagen Touareg, has been described in the German press after a private introduction to the German press on Dec 15. As per the official information that we have gathered from Porsche, 2011 Porsche Cayenne will come in three engine options, a turbocharged, 500 bhp, 4.8 L V8, a 400-hp 4.8-liter V8 and a 300-hp 3.6-liter V6. So what’s new in the 2011 Porsche Cayenne? The 2011 edition Cayenne comes with improved fuel efficient engines and has shed its unwanted flab. Read 10 per cent of the weight reduced compared to the current Cayenne. Diesel and Hybrid versions of the same, though is planned will not make inroads to US of A. There will be a successor to the recently introduced Cayenne diesel model with a turbocharged, 240-bhp 3.9-liter common-rail diesel seen in the diesel version of the 2010 Audi Q7. In addition, the Porsche Cayenne will also use the Hybrid power train adopted for the forthcoming Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid, which combines an Audi-engineered combination of a supercharged 330-hp 3.0-liter V6 with a 47-hp electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. But Volkswagen has not yet planned any of these to American market. All the Cayennes will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission while the European models will incorporate the automatic start-stop feature. This 2011 Cayenne will lack the gene it always flaunted proudly; off-roading capacities since the low-speed transfer case will be deleted making the Cayenne a pure-on-road vehicle. Blasphemy, you screech? Yes I understand, we in Carazoo.com are equally shocked. Well Porsche compensates the absence of off-roadability with its new fuel-efficient engines. Porsche claims to have reduced the fuel-consumption up to 23 per cent in their gasoline-powered engines. Porsche also claims that the new Cayenne Hybrid will achieve 28.7 mpg on the European driving cycle, plus it will meet the European standard for C02 emissions of 200 gm/kilometer, which will significantly reduce its tax burden and thus increase sales. Porsche seems to have hit the gym to cut out the unnecessary flab it had all these years to get back in shape. The 2011 Cayenne loses 10 per cent of its current weight with the Cayenne S having shed an impressive 396 pounds to weigh just 4,553 pounds. Even so, Porsche says the Cayenne includes more than 154 pounds of assorted new features. On which diet did Porsche go to achieve this super figure, you might ask? Well, this dramatic reduction in weight has been achieved through a regime of quick thinking exercises. These exercises include a new production process for the doors that saves 86 pounds, the deletion of the two-speed transfer case and an increased number of aluminum chassis components which shaves a further 146 pounds. This new generation Cayenne also combines a chassis with high-strength steel with aluminium hood, doors and a tailgate. As with its predecessor, the second-generation Cayenne will be manufactured in a two-stage process that begins at Volkswagen's plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, alongside the Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg and then ends with final assembly at Porsche's factory in Leipzig, Germany. The first public outing for the 2011 Porsche Cayenne will still be at the Geneva auto show in March. North American sales are planned to begin in May 2010. Porsche Cayenne has always been a favourite off roader for the headstrong, luxury loving, SUV freaks. But this has been a thing of concern for many green peace and ecological workers around the globe as this gas-guzzling SUV from Porsche though majestic in nature has a tendency of spitting noxious smoke into the nature. Well, it’s about time that we all come out of trance of the smoke spitting image of Porsche Cayenne circling our heads and come back to reality. Now thanks to a small German company RUF, which specializes in conversions of high-powered sports cars, has built what it calls the first Sports Utility Vehicle(SUV) running purely on zero-emission electric power and based on the Porsche Cayenne. Yes, you read it right. Zero-emission from a Porsche Cayenne. This Porsche Cayenne called as Stormster is a e-vehicle driven by Siemens electric motor with an output of 270 kW/ 367 hp. With a total weight of 2,670 kg, RUF lists acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in just ten seconds. The top speed is electronically regulated at 150 km/h to give the car a range of 200 kilometers on one charge. How cool is that? The lithium ion accumulators are supplied by Li-Tec Battery GmbH. Li-Tec is the first manufacturer of lithium ion battery cells in Europe, designed for the automobile industry using ceramic storage technology. Hankook developed the winter tyres for the all wheel drive Stormster which is fitted to RUF classic five-spoke lightweight wheels. The Stormster made its first public debut at the European Climate Change Conference held in the Danish capital Copenhagen last month. We hope that Volkswagen heeds to this and takes its newly acquired Porsche company to a all-new level by bring out as many e-Cayennes aka Stormsters to the car markets as an answer to the queries of the eco-soldiers. Get a load of this. Rolls Royce has taken 60 orders in November-December 2009 for its newly launched Rolls Royce Ghost in India. How cools is that? India is finally back to its old ways in the global business of buying Rolls Royce cars, punching above its weight. This fact certainly is a nostalgic-feel for the RR marquee. India is back in track from where it started for RR market. The new breed of Indian business tycoons are following in the footsteps of the pre-war maharajahs in their quest for luxury cars, snapping up the new $600,000 Rolls-Royce Ghost at the fastest rate in the world. The first Ghost will be delivered to a Chennai based realtor next month. Rolls-Royce, the iconic British carmaker now owned by BMW, is hoping for big things from the Ghost, a “baby” 2.4-tonne luxury sedan that is about 40 per cent cheaper than the company’s flagship Phantom range. Rolls Royce’s global sales dropped southwards with just 1000 RR Phantoms being sold in 2009 when compared to 1212 in 2008 thanks to the Global recession. But RR is quite optimistic this year and targets selling 2500 units of Phantom and Ghosts this year. The Ghost, was unveiled at the September 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show as the new entry level Roller. Though Abu Dhabi and Dubai were the top sales outlets for Rolls Royce in 2008, thanks to the global financial crisis, the Middle-East luxury car sales is now cooling off and the new markets for the RR is emerging from the Asia-Pacific particularly from countries like China and India. RR expects to sell over 400 units with China accounting for half of the sales while India, Japan and Australia raking the rest of RR units. RR though is targeting the global market for its sales, Indian car market will always remain special to the Rolls Royce as the saga of RR in India dates back to 1907 when Maharaja of Gwalior, Madho Rao Scindia , imported the first example of the car to India , just three years after Rolls-Royce was formed. India, pre-independence though predominantly a British Raj, was a royal mass of land with over 500 princely states in it. Most the maharajas and Royals of these princely states were avid buyers of the brand, customizing them to suit Indian conditions. The Nizam of Hyderabad, for example, had a fleet of 50 Rollers, while the Maharajah of Patiala had 44 in his collection. But with the coming of Indian independence in 1947, royals and Maharajas were forced to abandon their ostentatious lifestyles and lead a life of austerity for many decades to come. Their Rolls-Royces were garaged or sold to private collectors, such as the industrialist Pranlal Bhogilal, who has a collection of 200-plus vintage cars on his estate near Ahmedabad. Further financial privation for the royals came in 1971 when then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi abolished the Privy Purse system of payments to them. By this time Rolls Royce had withdrawn from the Indian market and it was not until 2005 that it returned, appointing Navnit Motors in Mumbai as first authorized RR dealer in almost 50 years. Navnit subsequently opened a showroom in Mumbai’s Atria Mall in May 2006, and this was followed by a second Rolls-Royce dealership in India in September 2008, when Select Cars opened a showroom in New Delhi. Going by the reports of the latest world wealth published by consulting firms Capgemini and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, India had 84,000 US-dollar millionaires at the start of last year, down more than 30 per cent from an estimated 123,000 at the start of 2008, when share markets were at their peak. Of the 84,000, about 1000 Indians are in the “ultra” high net worth category, with assets above US$30 million, while between 50 and 100 are billionaires. India has already become a land of modern new age Maharajas. While high net worth individual numbers may have receded a little from early 2008, the return of strong economic growth in the second half of 2009 in both India and China points to strong sales ahead for sellers of luxury goods. China’s GDP growth in 2010 is likely to be around 9 to 9.5 per cent, while India should reach 7.5 per cent. That compares with just a 2.2 per cent outlook for the US and 3.5 per cent for the world overall. This is what makes India a fertile hunting ground for Rolls-Royce and other luxury car purveyors such as Bentley, which is owned by BMW’s rival German maker Volkswagen. Maybach, the Mercedes-Benz luxury model, rounds out the trio of brands at the top catering to the “chairman” segment, where customization is the name of the game. Family crests, cocktail cabinets, special carpet trim and unique colour combinations are among the personal touches most often requested. In addition to the “chairman” luxury-car segment, there is also strong Indian demand for sports-style “supercars,” where names like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche dominate the market. Its celebration time for Porsche and yet another feather in the cap for its flagship model, Panamera. As a part of a significant milestone for Porsche, 10,000th Panamera was rolled out on Wednesday from the production line in Leipzip plant in Stuttgart, Germany’s just after three months after the Panamera went on sale. The Platinum silver metallic Porsche Panamera Turbo with 4.8 L V8 engine that produces 500 bhp@6000rpm is the 10,000th car that will be delivered to a lucky customer in Singapore. Speaking on the occasion, Michael Macht, Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG said that the sales of the Panamera has realy taken off and claimed that Porsche had already secured over 9,000 confirmed orders for the Panamera. The Gran Tuismo Porsche Panamera won the coveted “Goldenes Lenkrad” or the “Golden Steering Wheel” and “Auto Trophy” awards in Germany. It also has won many international prizes. The Panamera 4S is proving particularly popular and has a share of 44 per cent , putting it ahead of the Turbo (36 per cent) and the Panamera S (20 per cent). The company plans to build 20,000 Panamera per year across the whole product cycle. The fourth Porsche model series is being manufactured at the Leipzig plant in the so-called model mix, sharing a production line with the Cayenne SUV. The innovative, highly streamlined production is seen as a model of technological and economic excellence for the automobile industry worldwide. One of the important markets of sports car, United States is still waiting for a date with the Panamera. Porsche is all set to utilize the upswing of the market sentiments. They have already started capacity expansion of their existing plant in Stuttgart, Germany. In India, the car is available in Mumbai against orders. The news is out and official. Porsche, which has kept in wraps the information about the new Cayenne has now been leaked. Spy pictures of a test mule of the new 2011 Porsche Cayenne has been spotted with minimal camouflage. This new Porsche SUV that we are talking appears to be leaner, meaner and fitter and looks much more desirable than the current Cayenne. The stand out feature in this SUV is the LED daytime running lights which are almost a must for the European car these days and four tailpipe exhaust system hinting that it could be the top of the line Turbo version. The prototype also showed that the new Cayenne will come with black plastic body cladding, recessed fog lights, ‘power dome’ hood, wider grille and ‘Panamera’ style headlamps. The interiors have also been inspired by the Porsche Panamera with almost the same central console with larger shifter and a large LCD screen which would be used for the entertainment system and satellite navigation. Engine options will include a naturally aspirated 4.8 litre V8 with 400 bhp and 369 lb-ft of torque, a force inducted version of the same engine with 500 bhp and 516 lb-ft of torque for the Cayenne with the Turbo S moniker. The engine range will also include two Audi sourced power trains, the 3.0 litre V6 supercharged with 300 bhp and 310 lb-ft of torque and 3.0 litre turbo diesel V6 with 240 bhp and 405 lb-ft of torque. Porsche may also introduce a hybrid version with the 3.0 litre V6 petrol with combined power output of 333 bhp and 324 lb-ft of torque. The takeover by Volkswagen of Porsche seems to have done some trick as the all new Cayenne shares the platform with the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg and might adopt the same street focussed setup. This would mean that Porsche may strip the current model’s heavy off-road equipment in favour of a lighter and more responsive overall drive which to us is a bit of a downer. The ‘Off-roadbility’ of the first SUV from Porsche is one of its USP. An SUV which can do a four wheeled drift just as well as a four wheeled mountain climb is what we know and love the Cayenne for. We will have all the information once the new Cayenne is officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. Volkswagen has overtaken Toyota to become the world's largest car manufacturer, thanks largely to a merger with Porsche AG. The German car maker has produced 4.4 million automobiles so far this year, outstripping its Japanese rival which has seen four million cars roll off production lines since January. But, Volkswagen reached this milestone by taking over Porsche and Porsche became the tenth brand in the Volkswagen familys. Hence, the combined entity VW-Porsche built 4.4 million cars to date this year and stripped Toyota of its first place as the largest auto maker. The change may not be permanent as the Japanese behemoth has the capacity to make 10 million vehicles a year and due to a slowing global economy it has decided to half its production this year. General Motors was once the world's largest car maker for 80 years until it filed for bankruptcy and Toyota emerged as the number one car maker in 2009. Moreover, this is not for the first time that Volkswagen has achieved a major milestone; last year it overtook Ford Motors to conquer the third position in global sales. While Toyota went on to benefit from US government's cash-for-clunkers programme, the German auto major benefited even more from similar programmes in operation in Europe. In China, Volkswagen shot past Toyota as the Chinese government attempted to boost demand by cutting back taxes on car sales. Labels: Ford-Motors, General-Motors, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen

The parent company of German sports-car maker Porsche declared a massive loss on Wednesday though it states manufacturing the iconic cars was still profitable. Porsche Automobil Holding SE’s ploy of taking over Europe’s biggest carmaker Volkswagen was foiled this year forcing a drastic write-down in the value of the smaller company's portfolio of Volkswagen stock. In its latest business year the Porsche parent booked a loss of 3.6 billion euros ($5.4 billion), a massive plunge from the record profit of 6.4 billion euros in the 2007-08 year. Unusually for a German company, Porsche's business year ends every July 31. Though it secured a majority of Volkswagen stock, Porsche had to admit defeat in the merger battle. Instead of Porsche taking over Volkswagen, the reverse happened, and Porsche's options on Volkswagen stock were later sold at a loss to Qatar's sovereign wealth. Martin Winterkorn, the Volkswagen chief executive who has now made himself chief executive of Porsche SE as well, said the Porsche car factories in themselves were still profitable, despite the world recession, with a profit margin of 10.3 per cent. "Over the course of 2010, Porsche AG expects a revival in sales," said a statement. Porsche AG is the car making unit, while SE is its parent. The two main factors in the huge loss at SE were both financial. One was a sharp write-down in the assessed value of SE's Volkswagen options, which stripped 2.5 million euros from SE's books. The other was the consolidation of Volkswagen losses into Porsche's accounts at the moment it claimed a fleeting tactical victory in the struggle by capturing 50.76 percent of Volkswagen. That brought Porsche a paper loss of 3.1 billion euros. The end result was a mountain of debt which crushed Porsche. The accounts showed Porsche SE owed a net 11.4 billion euros as of the end of July. A year earlier it had been 6.4 billion euros in credit, thanks to strong car sales and successful stock market moves. Labels: German Sports Car Maker, Porsche, Volkswagen

Volkswagen is going to play father-act to the sports car maker Porsche. The VW’s supervisory board has now made way for the company’s planned takeover of Porsche. The VW supervisory board had approved contracts determining details of the complex tie-up on Thursday. Porsche's board was expected to follow suit on Friday. VW also is also expected to invest about 25.8 billion euros ($A42.42 billion) in factories, materials and vehicle types by the end of 2012. Most of the funds are selected to production and equipment sites. And VW is planning all this to overtake the number one auto maker Toyota by 2018. Through joint ventures, Volkswagen also plans to invest 4.4 billion euros ($A7.14 billion) in China by the end of 2012. Porsche sanctioning the VW deal is expected to draw a line under a violent power struggle between the two automakers in recent years that counts Porsche's former boss Wendelin Wiedeking and its finance chief as casualties. Porsche had initially tried to obtain its much bigger German peer, but the shortage due to financial crisis detained credit markets forced it change the mind. VW is expected to be complete the in 2011. Porsche's major sports car operations will all be integrated into VW as its 10th brand. As a beginning, by the end of this year, VW will acquire a 49.9 per cent stake for 3.9 billion euros. VW's institutional investors, several of them, have criticised the poor visibility on Porsche's financial situation and guaranteed to resist the deal. Labels: Porsche, Sports-Car-Maker, Volkswagen

Among other appearances, the singer was pictured wearing them on the cover of "Rolling Stone" magazine as well as on the record sleeves of "Yes, I'm a witch" (2007) and "It's alright" (1982). In addition, Yoko Ono wore the sunglasses on a photo shoot for the fashion magazine, "New York".

To add on to the list of car launches are cars that has been launched with a minor facelift, or an upgraded version or new variant of the existing model. It seems that the heart of Indians does skip a beat when it comes to diesel cars. Riding on this sentiment of Indians is the German sportscar major, Porsche. Porsche which is encouraged by the rocking response to Porsche Cayenne diesel, is all set to bring in the whole range of engine options to the Indian automobile market with a big emphasis on diesel. With the fast growing fan base for the Porsche brand in India, Porsche plans to boost its diesel portfolio with diesel version of its Panamera sedan. It will also expand its overall portfolio of cars by launching super fast cars such as the new 911 Turbo and 911 GT3 RS by next year. On the anvil are hybrid and electric versions as well. Porsche seems to be in the right track of reading the changing moods of Indians car enthusiasts. The flagship SUV from Porsche, Porsche Cayanne, has been well received across the world in its diesel avatar. Porsche Cayenne Diesel has also been a hot favourite of the Indian luxury SUV lovers as it is very popular in India. And while all this happens, the company would have spread out to six different cities from two at present. But the question is whether such a wider product portfolio required from a company who sells only 150-200 cars a year. And we ask why not? Porsche currently is facing increasing competition from Audi and Lamborghini, which only proves a point that it is sane of Porsche to bring in the whole spectrum of products. The market for these luxury vehicles is relatively small at the moment, but in a longer run Porsche will certainly yield its benefits of bringing in the entire product portfolio. Right now, over 70 per cent of cars sold by Porsche are SUV's and limited volumes coming from the sports car portfolio. With the new four door Porsche Panamera, the company is hoping the additional volumes kick-in. For now, despite the downturn the company is eying 20 per cent growth this calendar year but with a bigger product portfolio, more engine options and a wider reach, it is hoping to double the growth rate in 2010. Finally the gorgeous Panamera is launched in India. The Panamera is an innovative sports car with four doors and four seats. The sedan sits very low and this imparts an image of something very ground-hugging. Moreover, the car is wide, very wide and extremely good looking that makes you utter hmmm and wow. The Porsche Panamera comes in three variants. The S and the 4S variants carry a 4.8 litre V8 engine that can whop a decent 400 bhp. The Panamera Turbo can boast of a powerful 4.8L Twin Turbo V8 engine which can derive a power of 500 bhp. The Panamera S comes with 6-speed manual transmission, where as the 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) automatic transmission comes as a standard feature in the 4S and the Turbo. The S variant comes with rear wheel drive while the 4S and the Turbo come with all wheel drive. The Panamera S can hit 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and the 4S takes 5 seconds to cover 100 km/h from static. The Turbo can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in only 4.2 seconds. The S has a top speed of 285 km/h and the 4S can run at a top speed of 282 km/h, while the Panamera Turbo can clock 303 km/h. Coming to the interior, the sedan can be referred as the epitome of luxury. The interior gives the car a maritime touch with its blue, cream and mahogany colours. The cabin impresses with its excellent ergonomics. The comfortable headrests of the leather seats are embossed with the Porsche crest. The cabin is spacious with ample of space for the passengers and luggage. The Porsche Panamera is extremely beautiful. The double air intakes grab the attention of the on looker. The active rear spoiler accentuates the stance of the car and adapts to various driving conditions. Porsche is offering the Panamera at the cost of Rs 1, 44,00,000 for the S variant, Rs 1, 49,00,000 for the 4S model and a whopping Rs 2,05,00,000 for the Panamera Turbo. It seems in India the luxury car price is sky rocketing and it is the high import duty that should be held responsible. Recently did we read of the expected Indian launch of the fastest car in the world, SSC Ultimate Aero. With a price tag of Rs. 6 crore, it will not only hold the title of the fastest car in the Indian car market but also that of the most expensive car. The next car in the queue to get a high price tag because of the high import duty is the Porsche Panamera. The car is expected to be launched next week and will be priced a humungous Rs. 2 crore. But the car is priced only half the amount outside India. The sole importer of the Panamera, Precision Cars India, has already received 13 booking for the sedan. And the company foresees a bright future for Panamera in India and expects to sell at least 50 Panameras in the fiscal year 2009. The Panamera was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2009. This four-door super sedan is available in three models, the Turbo, the rear-wheel-drive Porsche Panamera S, and the four-wheel-drive 4S. Similar to the Porsche Cayenne SUV engine, the Panamera S, Panamera Turbo and 4S models are available in a 4.8-litre V8 engine, which offers direct fuel injection, one-sided variable camshaft management system with adjustable valve lift. In India, it is still not clear, in which all trim levels and options it will be available. The Panamera full option car would include Sports chrono package, adaptive air suspension, dynamic chassis control, and ceramic brakes. Both in the interiors and the exteriors of the car has a very sporty designing. And the Panamera has all the driving characteristics of a Porsche. Well the Panamera is sure to steal many hearts in this festival season. Labels: Porsche, Porsche Cayenne, Porsche-Panamera, SSC-Ulimate-Aero

Ok everybody, green is in. Now we didn’t vouch on that. It is being endorsed by the big guys. You see! And when it is Porsche who is endorsing green, we better sit back and believe it. Porsche, The celebrated sports car maker has bit the newest green car fad. It seems like being fuel guzzlers is not a matter of pride anymore. Ferrari has already announced that it will be bringing a hybrid sports car. A similar announcement has been made by Lamborghini too. So how could Porsche, another European sports car manufacturer be left behind in the race for green technology? Porsche has announced that it is working on launching a hybrid variant for its best selling SUV Cayenne. Did you hear that? A green Cayenne on its way to put a sock in the rattling mouths of the eco workers. The launch is expected to happen next year. At the same time, the newly launched four seater sedan Panamera too will be getting a hybrid sibling in the near future. As per the industry grapevine, Porsche is planning to develop a new engine that will deliver a fuel economy of 11 km/l on the Cayenne. This is an advancement of 25 percent of the current fuel efficiency of 6 km/l in city and 8.9 km/l on the highway. Since it has a reputation to maintain, Porsche engineers are working on a hybrid system that is better than what the world has seen so far. So far the biggest market for hybrid cars has been contained to United States, Europe and Japan. Other countries have a lot of catching up to do in terms of developing green technologies which will pave way for co-existence of environment and modern engineering. Porsche Cayenne is already available in India as an imported model. It is available in five variants in India including sporty GTS and Turbo versions. It is available with a price tag of Rs 56 lakh upwards in the country. If India is to get the hybrid model it has wait for some more time. (Tell us something new eh!) As the country has always been received technologies long time after the world has tested it. There are a few exceptions to it. Hybrids have never been received with open arms by the Indian consumers as they have other options to like the CNG and LPG variants. It will take some aggressive marketing to push the Porsche hybrid Cayenne in the Indian car market. Labels: Hybrid-Cars, Porsche, Porsche-Cayenne

Mumbai streets were more sublime and warm on April 5, 2009. The sunny Sunday when people normally desire to stay within the shelters of their homes because of the prickling heat and humidity had transformed into a sublime Sunday because of the Parx Super Car Show held at Kala Ghoda in Mumbai. The show was an excellent and exhilarating parade of finest sports and luxury car. Infact the key aim of introducing such a kind of event was to bring together all like-minded individuals and car enthusiasts who own and have a passion of cars especially cars that lead admiring glances and envious stares. The event was flagged by former Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan. The Managing Director of Raymond Mr Gautam led the entourage of supercars in his Lamborghini Gallardo. Other participating cars in the show were from top brands like AMG, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Porsche, and Rolls Royce. And all these were driven from Kala Ghoda to Siddhi Vinayak Temple and back through Walkeshwar and Breach Candy. For the onlookers the parade of the most scintillating and impressive cars was the most spectacular sight. Organized by Autocar India and Bellset, the Parx Supercar Show is expected to travel to other cities including Delhi and Bangalore. Porsche 911 GT3 and Cayenne Diesel made a grand entry at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. These stunning models made their first appearance to the public portraying both tradition and the future – dynamic performance and superior economy of the sports car legend Porsche.
The new 911 GT3 turns more powerful, faster, crisper with more dynamism compare to its predecessor. Extra power means better performance and vrooms from rest to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds with the top speed of 312 km/h or 193 mph. Besides the power, the GT3 gets high-tech aerodynamic modifications enhancing the new look. It is also attributed with PSM (Porsche Stability Management). The second highlight of the show Cayenne Diesel is the most versatile SUV outstanding driving dynamics, safety and off-road qualities. The popularity of the Cayenne is visible wit the Porsche recently rolling out the 250,000th Cayenne from its Leipzig plant in Germany. The diesel version of Cayenne carries the same look Cayenne V6 petrol engine. Under the hood of Cayenne diesel we get to see 3-litre refined V6 with an output of 240 bhp. Legendary Porsche 917 celebrates its 40th anniversary with a big bang. This iconic racing car made its first debut in the Geneva Motor Show on March 13 forty years ago. And you would be amazed to know that just in a span of one month 25 cars were produced and sold out in the market. Since then the car has retained its position as one of the most successful racing cars of all time. The first introduction of Porsche was powered by a 4.5-liter engine that generated an astounding 520 horsepower. It was artistically designed to meet the demands and requirements of different racetracks. The company had also introduced the ‘short-tail model’ that was actually designed to suit the needs of heavily twisting roads that required high contact pressure for fast cornering. On the other end, a ‘long-tail model’ was introduced for fast racetracks.
Then in 1972 Porsche introduced a new variant of the 917 with turbocharged engine that produced an awesome horsepower of 1,000 bhp. As and when new technologies came into existence Porsche continuously made efforts to fit them in its legendary 917 so that the car can be compatible to the changing needs and demands of the industry. You would be glad to know that the Porsche Turbo 911 that we rejoice today is also an advanced version of the iconic 917. The 911 was a result of Porsche’s efforts to transfer the racing technologies that powered 917 to on-road sports cars. Even today the Porsche 917 is tagged as one of the ‘greatest racing car of the automotive history’. It’s been 40 years the car is rejoicing this position and expects to retain the same in years to come. Labels: Geneva motor show, Porsche, Porsche Turbo 911, Porsche Turbo 917, Racing Car

In the fast growing car industry, changes are inevitable. We have all recently witnessed the downfall of the US’s Big Three (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler). Even the government’s bailout package was not of much help to these auto giants and General Motors lost its position of top most car manufacturer in the world. Toyota overtook General Motors reporting a strong sale over other car manufacturers. Shockingly, now the Europe’s largest car manufacturer is taken over by the sports car legend Porsche marking another big change in the car industry. This time the battle is not for acquiring any position or title but for taking control over the other. The company has purchased more than the 50% of Volkswagen shares and also has plans to raise its stake in Volkswagen to more than 75 percent to take a complete control of the group. The plan to obtain Volkswagen’s shares was on cards since last year but was not executed due to the uncertain stock market. With this acquisition, Porsche is now eligible to make an offer for outstanding shares in the heavy-truck manufacturer Scania, of which Volkswagen is the dominant shareholder but Porsche has revealed that it would offer only a minimum price for Scania as it had "no strategic interest" in the company. The worsening condition of these big car manufacturers clearly depicts the current turmoil in the car industry which is badly hit by economic meltdown. Labels: Car-Manufacturer, Porsche, Volkswagen

Wake up car importers! It’s time for car importers to open their eyes and see the expected price hike for imported cars. Yes, the prices for imported cars are expected to rise due to the weakening of rupee against dollar. At this stage of downturn, car exporters are rejoicing the market but reality is that the importers will have a tough time. We just wonder how severely this will affect the foreign car manufacturers like Mercedes, BMW, Nissan, Volvo, and Porsche, who are importing their cars to India as Completely Built Units or CBUs. Even Honda CR-V would be affected by weakening of the rupee. This will definitely increase the prices of imported cars. All the luxury car manufacturers are trying hard to cushion the impact on Indian car customers but till how long? Gone are the days for SUVs when they were highly appreciated and liked by Indian consumers. But rising inflation and high fuel prices have now put an end to the production of SUVs. Car manufacturers across the country especially the ones like Mahindra & Mahindra who are mainly into the production of SUVs are facing a tough time. These huge cars are numbered as high fuel guzzlers and have a bad eco-image. This has reduced the sale of Mahindra Scorpio, Toyota Innova, Maruti Gypsy and other cars in segment. With a keen desire to fight the battle and raise the market for SUVs, car manufacturers are now hunting for better and reliable alternatives that can drive the sale of these cars. The Mercedes, BMW, Audi and the Porsche are also planning to enter the SUV segment and produce compact cars in the segment with the combination of off-road qualities and luxury comforts. Will the past days come back for SUVs? Labels: Audi, BMW-Cars, Mahindra-and-Mahindra, Mercedes, Porsche, SUVs

It is expected to bring well-know Elise model. The model has a modified version of Toyota’s 1.8L engine being used in Corolla. Lotus also has plans for making available a more powerful Elise R. Lotus General Manager Glen Moir is hopeful of Elise doing fine on Indian roads. He says that ground clearance won’t be a problem for it. As its first step, Porsche recently inaugurated a $ 2 million showroom in Mumbai. They plan their next pit stop at Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. Wishing for more high performance Sports cars in India? Low, wide, and fast. On Indian roads buyers of high-end high performance cars are almost nil. The few numbers of Lambos and Porsches in India are owned by people who can afford to make their own personal roads to ride these dazzlers. When Lotus, the British automakers, hinted the possibility of Lotus Elise’s launch in India, I was thinking about the possible drifts it can make in the heart of sports car enthusiasts. Lotus has the design motto "Performance through light weight". Even if you have never got behind the wheels of a Lotus, you have probably heard of it in Formula 1 races. Now, the company is looking for a partner to set up showrooms in Mumbai and Delhi. Sport Cars from the Malaysian national carmaker Proton is also expected to debut in India with Lotus. These efforts will keep India expecting even before the first Indian Grand Prix. Labels: High-end luxury sports sedans, Lamborgini, Launches in India, Lotus, Porsche, Sport Cars

Quick, what comes to mind when you think of Porsche? A clean cut designed sleek, fast, and incredible handling 2-door sport car with a genuine racing heritage. The ‘Made in Germany’ Porsche is soon to be launched in India. Porsche has recently confirmed that it will assemble its top rated cars in India. After the launch of the GT and Cayenne GTS, Porsche has chosen to assemble more vehicle range in India. The GT and Cayenne GTS are Porsche’s landmark models, known for a ride that quickens an enthusiast’s heartbeat. It’ll be crazy if I’ll say getting a new Porsche is a financially savvy move. But relax. Porsche has quoted that Indian buyers can sign up with all these versions at a significantly cheaper prize. All we can do is hope that the price is the only thing that will be cheaper! After all, no want wants to drive a tin even if it does have a Porsche symbol at its front!
