Coffee - Car CarpuccinoIn school, teachers always say, “Think out of the box”. Here’s a classic example. Will those teachers be happy? We really do not know. The BBC1 show “Bang Goes the Theory” told viewers that alternative fuels can be used to power vehicles. An average person would think “Wow!” and hope that somebody works on it. Now, someone has really thought out of the box and has come up with something innovative.

Few years from now, there may be a scarcity of coffee beans. Coffee lovers beware! Something very bizarre has been tried with your favorite coffee beans. The beans that brought you hot coffee every morning are running someone’s car somewhere near London.
A while ago it came to light that coffee-based biofuels were promising, and now, someone has built a car running on coffee beans. Yes, cappuccino has now become Carpuccino. Shortly, the Carpuccino, a 1988 Volkswagen Scirocco, will be seen driving around 340 km between Manchester and London. Are you happy?

The car will eat 68 kilogram of your coffee beans for the trip. Just imagine! Coffee beans wasted this way! 1 kg of the beans will be ground to push the car ahead by 4.5 km. How many cups of cappuccino would you have sipped in instead? The Carpuccino can speed up to a maximum of 96 km per hour. There is a drawback though. The coffee filter has to be cleaned, right? The Volkswagen will have to stop at every 100th kilometre to clean out the filter.

Want more info on the new concept? Let’s go to the industrial chemistry of the car. Coffee granules are put into a gas cylinder and heated to 700 degree Celsius in a charcoal fire. This heat will break down the coffee beans into hydrogen and carbon monoxide. This gas gets fed into radiator-type pipes where it relaxes and cools down a little. The relaxed gas, now, is put to task once again. It is fed into two filters inside the car trunk. The first cyclone filter will spin out all solid matter. The second, a loft-insulation cylinder, will block hot tar from getting inside the engine. After suffering the clean bath, the front grille and engine feast on the coffee gas. It burns the car’s tummy, i.e., the engine, and the car moves. Got it?Graphic depiction of CarpuccinoThe concept seems wonderful. But is it really feasible? The Carpuccino’s trip will cost up to 50 times as much as it would if it were running on gas. However, if it works out just fine, think of the plight of the poor children who will have an additional chapter in their chemistry syllabus, “The Functioning of a Coffee-Powered Car Engine”. Just think of the millions of coffee addicts in India. They will have to think twice. Coffee for the tummy or coffee for the car? As the husband leaves for work, the wife says, “Don’t forget the coffee beans on your way back”. The man will ask, “Coffee for the house or coffee for our car?” Coffee on the drive, anyone?

New Mitsubishi Outlander Cars In India

Mitsubishi Outlander has just become the first ever premium SUV in India to pass Bharat Stage IV emission norms with BS III fuel. It has been awarded the certificate by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) declaring it fit to pass the emission norms which come into effect from April 2010.

Outlander demonstrates its superior technology by becoming the first SUV to have gained this certificate. As per the guidelines BSIV emission norms require vehicles to limit carbon-di-oxide levels to 1 gm/km while the other toxic gases should be a few milligrams. The carbon levels in the Outlander is at a mere 0.49 gm/km and others are lower than the specified limit. Since Outlander is equipped engines that have Mivec technology which helps keep all the harmful gases within limits even while it uses BSIII specification fuels.

Mitsubishi Outlander can now hit the dirt trail without ever puffing out those harmful gases. Outlander joins the small cars like Maruti Suzuki Ritz and Honda Jazz which were launched with engines that comply with BS IV emission norms.

As more and more vehicles get engines which adhere to stringent emission levels, our cities will just get cleaner. Better air quality is the need of the hour in big cities in India. Our children have a right to clean air and clean water. May be car manufacturers can contribute their bit by introducing engine which harder for the environment cause.

Cars are becoming so friendly that now you can even pamper your pets in your car. It is believed that most of the Americans are crazy for pets especially dogs and to suit their requirement Honda has introduced a dog-friendly car.

Dog-friendly car? Sounds too strange but that’s what Honda calls its new car that comes with a cushioned dog bed in the trunk fitted with a built-in water bowl and fan. It also has a ramp to help less agile dogs get into the car.

The pet-friendly car is designed on the platform of Honda’s Element utility vehicle that was showcased at the New York Auto Show. Surprisingly, the car was unveiled with the help of a rescue dog named Sammy.

Pets have now become more like family for many and this has increases a demand for a special pet-friendly car in the market. Apart from refined features for comfort of the pet the dog-friendly version of Element also comes with easy-wash seat covers so that even if the pet makes it dirty it can be easily cleaned. The most interesting part is the fitted dog bed with restraints to ensure safety of the pet.

The car manufacturer is still to add more pet-friendly features in the car that is expected to go on sale in U.S. by the end of this year but no clues whether it will ever come to India. If it does it would be really interesting and incredible.

Skoda has a long lasting presence in the Indian car market with some of the great cars rolled out from its stable. Skoda cars like the Superb, Octavia, Laura, and the Fabia are doing wonders in the market and have also win appreciation from car buyers across the country.

Now the car manufacturer charges up to drive into the midsized C segment where it can spark a competition with the leading sedans like Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki SX4. Till now the company has mainly rejoiced its position in the C+ and D segment but now it desires to enter new segments as well.

Skoda made its first foothold in the premium B+ hatchback segment last year with the launch of Skoda Fabia. And now the desire to drive into the C segment gets stronger. This desire sparks the desire to launch a car falling in the range of Rs 7 Lakh and Rs 10 Lakh.

As the company is gearing up to enter into the C segment you may also find new variants of the Octavia rolling out in near future. There are speculations that the Octavia will be completely modified and positioned in the C segment.

There are no clues as to when the company will launch the new car falling in the C segment but all that is known is the fact that Skoda wants to introduce a strong product that will be aggressively priced to compete in the C segment.

Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to bring ‘The Devil’ to India. Shocked? It’s not about any horror movie or a drama. ‘The Devil’ is the name of a new car model that Mahindra is planning to manufacture for the VIPs in India. Inspired by the Obamamobile (President Barack Obama's official car), the new car would be built on the lines of the presidential car. It is a good effort by Mahindra & Mahindra as there are no such cars in India even for our prime minister.

The maximum security in cars for the VIPs in India is the bullet proof cars whereas the presidential Limo is fully armoured. The chassis projected with a 5-inch steel plate under the car protects in case of any kind of risky situation, for instance a bomb plantation under the car. The tyres are shred and puncture resistant, wrapped in steel rims underneath. This allows the car to travel on top speed even if the tyres are blasted.

Interestingly, the cabin holds a foldaway desktop, laptop computer with wi-fi, state of the art satellite phone, and a direct line connection to the Vice president and Pentagon. The doors are 8-inch thick weighing as the cabin door of a 757 Boeing jet with armour plated. There are defence accessories like night vision cameras and pump-action shotguns. It is also armed with tear gas cannons. In case of any emergency, there are also bottles of blood.

Besides all this, the Cadillac Limousine also has the ability to withstand the rocket and chemical attacks. Now this is the car which exists in practical. In India, we cannot expect any VIP car to be enhanced with all these features but yes atleast ten percent of this is necessary. Would Mahindra’s Devil possess all these safety and security features?

Parking a car is a irksome task for most of us. Sitting on the driver's seat many of us just struggle to fit in our cars in stuffed parking spaces. But now, to make the tedious parking job easy Ford has introduced a new car parking system.

This innovative car parking system is christened as Automatic Park Assist System. You may now not have to struggle for parking spaces. You can just sit calm behind the wheel and the new automatic parking system will park the car for you.

Ford has not used any new technology to support automatic parking. It has simply used the existing ultrasonic parking sensors combined with a new electric power assisted steering system. The sensors will figure out the actual distance from other cars in the parking lot and then steer itself into the parking space with only minor inputs from the driver.

A driver just have to press a button on the dash which activates the ultrasonic parking sensors to scan and check the parking area in terms of space for parallel parking. The car then signals the driver to select the suitable gear. The steering job is done by the active park assist system meanwhile the driver put brakes when required. The system also comes with a visual or audible interface that warns the driver of nearby cars, objects, and people.

Surprisingly, the automatic parking system is accurate and quick, proving its superiority in the car electronic market. The system will take some time to enter the Indian car market. But you can find this automatic parking system in Lincoln MKS and MKT cars in the international market.

The global recession has created a turbulence in the Indian car market influencing the consumers' purchasing power. New car sales has been slashed drastically shifting the wind of growth towards used car market.

Seeing the current turmoil in the car industry, many car manufacturers has postponed their new car launches. At this time of financial meltdown, consumers also feels it is better time to shop for used car rather than investing hefty amount on a new car purchase.

So, the used car segment is now experiencing a good demand compare to the earlier time of stable market condition. For instance, Maruti True value has experienced a growth of nearly 30 percent, whereas the sales of the Maruti's new cars has dropped by around 10 percent.

The new car market is further likely to face tough competition from the used car market as there is possibility of the car prices going high this January.

Moreover, certified used cars from Company-owned used-car outlet are thriving enormously in the industry because they provide a wide range of services like car finance and insurance, fitment of car accessories, assistance with paperwork, and documentation under one roof.

New Ford Fiesta Cars in India

Recession has got its hold around Ford’s throat. But still the company has the pedal to the metal. It plans to introduce the new generation of Fiesta based on the winning Mazda platform.

The new Fiesta is speculated to be seen on India roads by 2011. Eyeing the current domestic demand, the company is likely to improve the fuel efficiency of the new car compared to the present day Fiesta. Ford is much optimistic that the car with enhanced fuel economy and performance would do wonders for the company in India.

In addition, the company has taken a less expensive route to tune the old version with a sharp focus on driving pleasure. The company also has plans to localize the new car to about 80% in order to increase its appeal in India. But, unfortunately at this stage when the company is experiencing a severe financial crunch, it may not get the required funds for execution of the project.

So Ford is left with an option to reduce the percentage of localization as well as cost price of the car for the Indian market. The new agenda of execution would design and build the new Fiesta with about 25% of localization. It all depends mainly on the company’s ability to invest.

Ford has high hopes attached with the new Fiesta. If the operations are executed as per the plans and if the market situation is improved till then, Ford would also unveil a hatchback version of the current Ford Fiesta.

As the company is concerned about investment, there are less chances of 80% localization of the car. Because in order to do so, it may need about 100 million dollars, an amount which is economically not feasible.

Re-kindle your desire of buying a new car!

Many of you must have changed their plans of buying a new car due to inflation and recession. If you are one among them, then this is the right time for you to rethink on your decision of a new car purchase.

The impact of budget announced by the government has given immense pleasure to both the buyers and manufacturers. Car manufacturers now plan to pass on duty cut benefits to buyers to boost their dropping car sales. No matter which car you desire to buy, you can enjoy the benefits. Because almost all car manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra have cut down the prices of their car models with immediate effect.

The ex-showroom car prices are expected to cut down in the range of Rs 8,000 to Rs 45,000. The largest selling small car on Indian roads, Maruti Suzuki Alto, will now be cheaper by Rs 8,000. And even the top-end variant of a leading SUV, Mahindra Scorpio, will be cheaper by about Rs 42,000. All the cars including the sedans, MUV, and hatchbacks will now be available with a discounted price.

Obviously, the cut down in car prices must have excited you. Reduction in the fuel prices further adds a reason to go for a new car purchase now. This will reduce the running cost of your car as both petrol and diesel prices have been cut down by Rs 5/litre and Rs 2/litre, respectively.

If you are waiting to buy a new car for yourself, then this is the perfect time for car purchase.

Struggling with the slowdown blues, Indian car manufactures have announced heavy discounts on their top running car models. Big players of the market including Maruti Suzuki, General Motors, Tata Motors, and Ford have announced big discounts on their cars as a lucrative proposal for those who are waiting to buy a new car.

Many of you may have planned to buy a car this year but inflation and recession may have dug down your decision. And if that’s the case, then here is the right time for you to move ahead with your desire of purchasing a car. You would be glad to know that the most lucrative discount has been offered by Ford for its New Ford Fiesta, a discount of Rs 91,000. But this offer is valid for only 10 days.

Maruti is also softening the price tags to attract waning customers with a discount of Rs 35,000 on Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Rs 15,000 on Maruti Suzuki Alto, Rs 20,000 on Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo, and Rs 15,000 on Maruti Suzuki SX4. Tata Motors is also offering an average discount of Rs 20,000-30,000 on its entire range of car models.

Talking about General Motors, the company offers attractive discounts and schemes on the purchase of Spark, Aveo, Aveo U-VA, and Optra. Hyundai is still in process of finalising its new schemes and discounts to pull customers back to Hyundai showrooms.

Regardless of what the New Year has in store for these car manufacturers, they are throwing out discounts to clear inventories.

Tata Motors has high intentions to drive two of its successful cars, Vista and Grande, to Africa.

The Nano is expected to challenge not only new car but also the used-car market. Despite this, Maruti Suzuki is not at all worried as it expects a growth of 30 percent on its True Value (used car showroom).

However, it is not necessary that the Nano will influence the used-car market because every buyer sets some different criteria before selecting a car. For instance, a buyer, who is looking for a mid-size car clubbed with luxury for an affordable price, will choose a car from the respective segment.

This is one of the reasons which depicts that Nano will not affect other segment. One Lakh car is definitely a great concept but all amenities can not be accommodated in this price. So, one who wants more with low price will go for the used-car market.

Maruti Suzuki recently rolled out the ‘A-star’, which was speculated to rival the Nano but with the delay of Nano’s launch, it is enjoying its space in the market. Moreover, it’s worth mentioning that the A-star will continue to grab prominence till the commercial launch of small cars like Nano and Hyundai i20.

There’s good news for car buyers! For all those who were planning to buy cars and were pushed back by inflation and high car loan rates, have now got a perfect time to rejoice.

You can now make up your mind to buy a new car. RBI has reduced the repo rate by 100 basis points and this must have given a sigh of relief to all those who were continuously stressed under spiraling car loan interest rates. This will definitely improve the status of liquidity crunch in the finance market and boost the sentiments and aspirations of Indian car consumers.

With this, the car sales are expected to push up and the piled car stocks will be reduced. Expensive financing will not restrict the consumers from buying a new car anymore. So what do you say, will softening of the interest rate push car sales? Will people prefer buying new cars now?

This festive season has come up with loads of smashing car offers. Diwali is a festival of lights and you can very well brighten your house with a new car key shinning in your house. You just need to do the Diwali shopping and one new car may be yours.

That sounds interesting! These days many shopping malls and branded outlets across the country especially in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi are offering special schemes on purchase. If you purchase anything above a specified price limit, you may be lucky to win a new car. This new car can be any, may be Hyundai i20, Mitsubishi Outlander, and may be a luxury car from the list of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz cars.

No doubt that this is an excellent opportunity for purchasers to test their luck. But then, Indian car manufacturers are molding their marketing strategies to market their car models. The newly launched Mitsubishi Outlander can gain market value through these schemes and offers. But, others like Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz are simply trying to drive the sales and cope up with the sluggish car market.

Car manufacturers have undying hopes attached to the festive season!

Do you think there is a need to count your stars? Does everyone believe in astrology and star signs? May be may be not!

It is shocking but exciting to know that car insurance companies in some foreign countries offer some special premiums based on star signs. We can't really say how far it is true but of course an interesting concept. In India, it will be of great relevance as it is believed to be a spiritual country. But then, definitely the mix of sentiments and opinions is always there.

These signs also depict the driving skills and habits of car drivers. Atleast this is something that many of us do believe. When you talk about air signs like Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini, they always fly in air with their cars and are believed to be rash drivers. If you are born under a water sign comprising Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, then you are patient drivers and enjoy driving at a comparatively slower speed.

Those born under fire signs comprising Aries, Sagittarius, and Leo, are believed to be the actual speed demons. It is exciting to know all this but then how far it is on papers, is still a debate!

Tata Nano has faced massive number of hurdles in its way to the country. Continuing the battle with various ups and downs, Tata Nano also applies for the homologation test conducted at Pune’s ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India).

Homologation test is a test that verifies the roadworthiness of any particular new car. Roadworthiness test is a must for every new car to test all parameters like including emission, noise and vibration of cars running on Indian roads.

Astonishingly, the car confirms the Euro IV emission norms that have yet not come to India but is expected to become an Indian standard by 2009. During the test, this small wonder delivered 20 kmpl with its 623cc twin cylinder petrol engine. It was subjected to almost 100 tests over a period of 4 months. The car proved to be perfect to ply Indian roads. ARAI finally handed over the clearance certificate to Tata Nano for passing with flying colours.

Congratulation Nano! You are just perfect!

Mahindra & Mahindra adds an automatic transmission system to its successful SUV, Mahindra Scorpio.

Some car owners who own automatic cars have a belief that a manual gearbox is better and powerful than automatic. But then too, Mahindra loaded an automatic gearbox in Scorpio. Surprisingly, the automatic Scorpio has a better driving dynamic.

The automatic gearbox has two modes to ensure quick and smooth operation even on congested Indian roads. With the automatic gear shift, the SUV gives a fuel economy of about 9 kmpl in city and about 13.2 kmpl on highways.

A great combination of automatic transmission and peppy diesel engine adds joy of driving a new car. The car is available at a price of about Rs 11.3 lakh and is a good bet.

Accept the bet and you are sure to win!

The luxurious E-class from the legendry car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is the most popular and successful model in India. This is now under the threat from another big player BMW’s 5-series.

The imperial E-class has ruled the Indian road for a long time, but now the BMW 5-Series is slowly taking the legacy. And the credit for this goes to the BMW’s all new 530d model, which made recent news of its launch. It is creating a new standard of luxury and performance in its class.

The luxury car demand in India is growing that is pushing the car manufacturer to introduce more models with unique features as the competition is very high. Another fat player who is trying to butt in this battle is Audi A6 with its luxury charm.

It’s just a start with the new 530d model. The coming time will only tell who will dominate the luxury segment.

The Sonalika Group's ambitions cannot be measured until the ambition is implemented to action. The group is determined to produce world cars by 2010 in collaboration with Pininfarina.

Sonalika is known for the Rhino RX SUV and now ties up with Pininfarina to develop a portfolio of cars in both petrol and diesel version. The initial plan is to introduce a 5-seater high-end luxury car and a 7-seater luxury SUV which will develop a strong platform for future cars.

These world cars will also be exported to European countries and therefore the company is putting in hard efforts to make the car engines comply with Euro emission norms. The company is ready to take the first step towards its determined ambition with an investment of Rs 700 crore.

Many car manufacturers are laughing at this ambition of the Sonalika but their focus and strong determination will definitely reap the fruits of success.

Hyundai i20
So many cars have rolled out on Indian road this year that it has become difficult to count the numbers. Since the beginning of this year, many cars have been launched. Now, Hyundai is eager to introduce out its small car, the i20.

It is believed that i20 will be an expansion of Hyundai Getz. The company planned to manufacture this car after the great winning success of its recent car model i10. The Getz has not been able to lure customers because of the unsatisfactory looks but i10 has won awards and accolades. The company thereby produces a modification of Getz that would be loaded with classy interiors similar to i10.

Getz in terms of leg space is huge with comfortable seating. Just wonder if the car is expanded what would be the area of leg room and size of the rear seat. With the launch of Hyundai i20, the company has tied high hopes, aspirations and expectations.

Will the hopes get fulfilled? Will i20 succeed in holding the expectations? No one can answer until the car actually makes the public appearance.

Car finance is not new to India, but momentum is up from nearly half a few years back to more than three quarter of the number of cars purchased in India are financed now. The remaining quarter is mainly delivered by the corporates buying cars in bulk for their employees. The scenario is same everywhere around the world. In developed countries, more than 85% of the cars are financed. Rising interest rates and oil prices may be holding your feet to move forward and have your first car but these are the factors which are macro in nature and on long run these should balance them with favourable ones. No economist is dead sure on when and in what structural form will the new economic revival take place in the world. If you are planning to buy your new car and want to finance it do contact us either through our website or send any of your doubt or reservation. We will you provide the correct information regarding the same.

With so many car manufacturers launching new car models, Hindustan Motors, maker of the Iconic Ambassador cars in India, also thought, why should they stay behind?

With a keen desire to keep its position in the industry, Hindustan Motors is also planning to launch a passenger car in India. The car is expected to launch in October in union with Mitsubishi Motors.

The company has witnessed a heavy setback after falling sale’s slop of the top surviving car, the Ambassador. This car has lived for centuries but now is restricted to certain cities like Kolkata. To overcome the slow down, the company has developed a completely new platform for producing cars with innovative features. Ambassador was a sturdy and powerful car. Just wondering, will Hindustan Motors be able to gain the same response and profit with the proposed passenger car.

Wow! A car with the title ‘A-star’ is ready for immediate launch in the Indian car market and will definitely hold the best ratings. Because ‘A-star means A-rating’!

Maruti Suzuki has put across an innovative concept to manufacture its new car, ‘A-Star’. The company has great expectations from the car and has a strong belief that A-Star will establish a strapping and successful platform for Suzuki.

A-Star is a replacement for Alto and will hold attractive features that made Maruti Swift a big success in both domestic and international market. It’s Maruti, so the price will also be competitive. Falling somewhere between Alto and Swift, this car will have a tough competition with Nano and other small cars expected to launch in India.

Which one will you buy? Nano, i20 or A-Star?

The Japanese have pioneered the concept of eco-friendly cars in the world. They already have the best hybrid cars – Toyota Prius Hybrid and Honda Civic. Now another Japanese car manufacturer, Genepax has unveiled a car that runs on water. It has a mileage of 80km per liter of water. The car also runs on petrol. Sounds interesting! This might solve the problem of fuel crisis in future. It is basically an electric power car that use hydrogen dioxide. The car requires only 1 liter of water to run at a speed of 80 kilometers or 50 miles an hour. The car manufacturer has applied for a patent.

If the technology becomes a reality, in future people will not have to queue in front of petrol bunks.
