Hyundai though is flying its flag high in the automotive world after the recession; it had to take a bow when it came to the ever competitive Japanese auto market. There is a surging demand for Hyundai vehicles elsewhere in the world, but the red-faced Hyundai Motors had to pull out from the Japanese scene citing poor brand recognition and high import duties on its cars that made it very expensive in the highly competitive Japanese auto Market. Hyundai which has in total 46 dealers in Japan has finally decided to say sayonara to the Japanese market. Hyundai just sold 800 units in 2009 and overall just 15,095 units since its entry to the Japanese market in 2001. Japan, a country where patriotism runs very high, people have given thumbs down for any foreign operators operating in the country and have welcomed the local brands with open hands where there is a huge fan following for these brands. A visibly frustrated spokesman of Hyundai, Oles Gadacz, is of the opinion that there is no scope for them in the brand conscious Japan unless they were Gucci or BMW. Hyundai, which is South Korea’s Numero Uno automaker and arguably the only company in the world to have shown an increase in sales from 2008 levels, has finally called it quits and intends to focus on its commercial vehicle sales in Japan and other emerging markets like India and China. Japan is one of the toughest markets in the world where brand value matters and not to mention intense competition from local manufacturers from the likes of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki, Daihatsu etc and not to mention the imports. That is one heavy competition out there. However, Hyundai’s sales have taken a massive leap in India though. Labels: Daihatsu, Honda, Hyundai-Motors, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota

There is a pleasant news for the Montero lovers!
Mitsubishi is launching an all new Montero. This piece of news can also delight those serious off-roading fans.
Mitsubishi is launching an all-new Mitsubishi 3.2 DI-D Montero. It will give its customers the power of 200 horses. This new car will be an entirely revised version of Mitsubishi Montero. And it will be available in the international market very soon. Currently, the Mitsubishi Montero delivers some 162 bhp. And this new version of Mitsubishi is expected to be more fuel efficient than the existing Montero. The company claims that the new Montero will consume only 17 per cent less fuel when comparing with its predecessor.
The new Mitsubishi is a 4×4 equipped vehicle. And it is available in both automatic and manual transmission. There are a whole lot of modifications done to the bearings, pistons, camshaft, cylinder heads, connecting rods, valve train, turbocharger, oil pump, injection system and ECU. The maximum torque available is 441 Nm at 2,000 rpm.
The new Montero has an improved insulation, inside and out, thicker front glass and a well protected windshield. The changes made to the engine of the car helps to reduce the noise and vibration.
It will also be spotted having new upholstery and body colors, bluetooth integration with steering wheel controls, and MMCS browser.
The car is expected to be launched in the international market by 15th of December. The price of the car is not available yet. Since the time it was displayed in 2008, it will take two solid years before Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution-X will be launched in the Indian market. The Indian car lovers now have plenty of options and this car, which was almost been forgotten, because of the surprising number of car launches, will now find its place in the wish list of the Indian car customers, especially the young crowd. Mitsubishi had showcased its motor sport derived car, the Evolution-X, in India at the Auto Expo in 2008. The question still lingers as to what took so much time for the company to launch this trendy high speed car in India; it might put the blame on the economic slowdown. Well, now it will be a hardly a year before which the Indian will have this sophisticated machine on road. The Evo-X will be powered by a 290bhp engine at 6500 rpm and 407Nm torque at 3500 rpm. And the fuel efficiency of the car also looks descent; it has a mileage of 12 kmpl in the city and 15kmpl on the highway. With the spacing capacity of five, the car has extreme safety features, which is very necessary for a high-speed car. The list of safety features could begin with ABS that has EBS and a whole set of curtain SRS airbag for passengers and driver. The car will be imported to the company as CBU and till now does not have plans to manufacture the car in India. The car can be afforded by only those who can spend Rs 30 lakhs. And this does not seem to be a welcoming factor, but you never know to what extent the Indians’ car craze can surprise us. Currently Mitsubishi has sedans like Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Cedia and SUV’s such as Mitsubishi Montero, Mitsubishi Outlander and Mitsubishi Pajero in its product lineup for India. The Fast just got faster. Oh no, we are not talking about the movie here. Mitsubishi, the fifth largest Auto giant in Japan has just made its top model Lancer Evo even faster to pamper the speed gurus. Mitsubishi Lancer series, the flagship model of Mitsubishi Motors was launched in 1973 as a cozy and luxury family car but gradually through the years and after many spectacular upgrades, the car has driven forward from being a bland family car to a sprinting track car. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution or the Evo series of the car which was launched about 17 years back has been upgraded by the UK subsidiary of Mitsubishi Motors to produce the fastest and more extreme version of this road going rally car ever, the FQ-400. Mitsubishi lancer Evolution FQ-400 comes with the tweaked up version of the lightweight aluminium 2.0-litre turbocharged MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) engine with an output of 402 bhp and 525 NM of torque. WOW MAN this is insane eh? This hell of a machine has been priced at $80,000 USD and has started burning the roads since mid-June. This gen next Evolution X car amazes not just with its bombastic performance, but also its low speed friendliness and ease of use. Accelerating from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds, this car will really turn heads on roads. We are all hoping to see this speed demon in WRC. Please lend thy ears to this Mitsubishi. India has become a symbol for small cars! A number of small cars are in line to enter the Indian car market. First, Nano made an approach to roll out a small and cheap car on Indian roads. Following the trend, Hyundai Motor India, Honda Seil India, Maruti Suzuki, GM and now Mitsubishi also plans to introduce their small cars in the Indian market. Doesn’t it look like that Indian car manufacturers are on their way to establish a small car stable? Mitsubishi’s small car will be introduced in markets like India and China somewhere in 2010. This forthcoming global car will have a rear engine similar to the one in Nano. Though the position of the engine is same, the performance, economics and capacity vary. The new car will come with a 1.0 litre engine. So know, who is next in line for small car race? Outlander will roll out in the Indian market with 5 seating capacity, spilt tail-gate, Rockford music system, stability control package, and variety of attractive features. Outlander will come with a petrol version having an engine capacity of 2.4L churning out 170 bhp. Has India become a decisive factor in Mitsubishi’s business strategy? It does looks like that if you see at the new products planned for India. The Japanese company is planning to introduce the i–MiEV, an electric car and the very stylish SUV Outlander next year in India. It seems that the company does not want to rest on its laurels gained in past. The company is already selling Lancer, Cedia, Monetro and Pajero. The company is now eyeing luxury SUV segment by launching Outlander and is also planning to introduce the first international brand electric car in India. The company has re-defined luxury cars in India. It can do the same in future. It is clearly targeting other Japanese car manufacturers Honda and Maruti-Suzuki who have already established themselves in India. It was shocking to note that the Hindustan Motors, one of the most well known automobile houses in India, has been fined for selling a defective Mitsubishi Lancer car. The state consumer commission has asked the company to pay the car owner Rs. 11.75 Lakh along with the refund amount within a month or the vehicle should be replaced. The commission noted that the engine, which is the heart of the car, had a manufacturing defect and rejected the company’s appeal that no other defects were found on the car. On reading the article on the website, as a car owner myself, I suddenly felt vulnerable to car maker’s mercy. It is not always that we check the car completely when purchasing a car, and take the manufacturer and dealers word as truth. In this case the manufacturer would have earned golden points if the defective car was replaced immediately with a new one. But Indian auto makers still want to take a consumer for a ride. For every petitioner like Ravinder Pal Singh, there are thousands who cannot fight the big auto companies and would rather choose the easiest way out. With the economy going at the current rate, thousands of cars will roll out of manufacturer sites every year and it would be nice if they gave immediate remedies to consumer woes. But, I think this is asking for too much. Article submitted by RadhakrishnanLabels: Auto company penalized, Consumer commission, Defect in engine, Hindustan Motors, Mitsubishi

He's undoubtedly the reigning king of Bollywood; Carazoo wishes Shah Rukh Khan a very happy birthday. This gizmo loving actor drives a bright red Pajero. The Mitsubishi Pajero was a Sport Utility Vehicle ( SUV) manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors in November 1973. In 24 years, it has gone through complete redesigns four times and now has a lower and wider stance compared to it predecessors. The fourth generation was introduced at the Paris Motor Show on September 30, 2006 with new interior styling. This was also accompanied by enhanced safety with dual-stage SRS front airbags as well as new side-impact and curtain airbags. This new Pajero has a lower center of gravity for better on-road handling manners, whilst the new body has over three hundred per cent more twisting firmness. However, what revolutionizes this Pajero is that it utilizes a unibody (a one-piece frame and body structure) construction, as opposed to the previous body-on-frame (box-ladder). This helps in providing a longer suspension stroke. Its fuel tank is now strategically placed between the axles for better safety. King Khan surely enjoys driving this widely-dreamt racing car, but his journey to this Pajero was not all smooth sailing, his first car was a Maruti Omni. Wish you luck SRK! What you say about used cars? How will it be if you buy a used Mitsubishi Lancer or a used Ford Icon and alter it with sporty designs? Will it look sporty if you put a nice spoiler on the rear of your car and cut short the ground clearance? Go Vroooom. The Indian youth needs more designs rather than the usual black or white or red. It’s time to get your dream cars in India’s used car market at an affordable price. The global auto majors are looking for potential buyers of their vehicles in India’s used car market. India’s used car market has had a lone voyager in Maruti and its TrueValue program. Now, Honda’s Auto Terrace, Toyota You Trust brand, Hyundai’s Hyundai Advantage, and Ford’s Ford Assured used car programs have entered the Indian car market. Statistics say that the used-car market counts for one million units across India. This industry is expected to grow bigger faster than in past years. Here is the current scenario of the pre-owned cars industry in India. Toyota’s You Trust venture is all set to roll out at leading dealerships across the country by October end 2007. Honda is ready with their new team trained to focus only on its used-car program called Auto Terrace. The company’s used-car program is currently running in a small way and is expected to be a success soon. Ford Assurance and Hyundai Advantage programs are also doing competitively well in the industry. Last, but definitely not the least, our car guru Maruti is at the top with more than 90,000 used cars units sold through its True Value network. Hindustan Motors India with Mitsubishi recently unveiled Cedia Select that uses dual fuel - petrol and ALPG (Auto Liquid Petroleum Gas). This dual fueled Cedia is low on emission and is high on performance. Highly developed microprocessor organized technology helps the vehicle to give good mileage on both the fuels without negotiating on performance. This new variant is fitted with “sequent” technology to manage the fuel economy when the vehicle is running on LPG. The Cedia Select is capable of covering 1000 kms with a full tank of 50 liter petrol and 48 liter LPG. Land Rover, the top rated British automobile manufacturer, is all set to make a debut of its compact SUV, LR2 in India. Navnit Motors, Land Rover's sole Indian distributor is planning to get LR2 to launch in India. The LR2 is expected to be the cheapest variant from Land Rover in India. It would be priced at around Rs 35-lakh ex-showroom. It might be the increasing demands in the Indian auto-market that has made Land Rover take this decision. The distributor of Land Rover in India expects to double the annual volume to over 60 units this year. This strictly muscular LR2 is very luxurious and that plays an important role in the Land Rover's portfolio. A definite winner for all those macho Indian men. It is the most fuel-efficient model from Landy. It caters to more adventurous drivers. The LR2 could well be the best looking SUV on the road today. When it joins the Indian market frenzy, it will compete with cheaper SUVs such as the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, and Maruti Grand Vitara or the Mitsubishi Montero that falls in about the same price range. Doesn’t look like a tough fight unless price gets in the way! Labels: Honda, Hyundai, Imported cars, Indian car market, LandRover, launch in India, Maruti, Mitsubishi, SUVs

Since Mitsubishi’s collaboration with Hindustan Motors (HM) about a decade ago, it has released an array of popular Sedans and SUVs, but not a single vehicle in the most popular Hatchback segment. With the announcement of an official launch date for the ‘1-lakh car’ by Tata Motors, other auto manufacturers are keen to compete. Mitsubishi is considering introducing its new model ‘i’ to India. The ‘i concept’ car debuted at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. The egg-shaped vehicle carried a 999 cc engine that boasted of a very impressive mileage of 33 kms per litre. It also carried a Mitsubishi Smart Idling (MSI) system which turns off the engine automatically when the vehicle is stationary and can restart it within 0.2 seconds. The ‘i’ that launched in January 2006, comes with an ultra-efficient lightweight turbocharged 660 cc petrol engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission. It sports a wide door, sufficient room for 4 passengers, split-folding rear seats, and alloy wheels. The engine emissions are environment friendly. It is priced a little too high in the European market. With the co-operation of Hindustan Motors (HM), Mitsubishi could introduce a small car, based on the i-car platform, in India. Vehicle cost could be reduced by sourcing parts locally and by stripping out some of the expensive on-board equipment.
