Suzuki Logo

Maruti Suzuki has a reason to smile.

The car maker announced that there is an over three-fold increase in its quarterly net profit. The net profit is at Rs.687.53 Crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal ending December 31, 2009, against the same quarter of previous fiscal year, while its net sales went up by over 62 per cent to Rs.7,334 Crore.

This profit can be said to have been fuelled by easy and affordable car loans and a reviving domestic economy.

Maruti Suzuki's chief financial officer Ajay Seth remarked, "This has been a good quarter," as he announced the company would expand capacity to defend its market leadership position from global rivals and meet increasing domestic demand.

Many car makers such as General Motors, Renault, Toyota and many more have disclosed their plans for new car launches in India to have a bigger piece of the fast-growing market share to counter sluggish demand in the developed countries because of the global recession.

India has now emerged as the third largest car market in Asia, China being the first followed by Japan. Moreover, India is one of the few countries where automobile sales are rapidly increasing. In India, car sales jumped 19 per cent last year to 1.43 million units.

Maruti Suzuki sells about one in two cars in the country and its sales jumped 62.5 percent to 73.34 billion rupees.

Ajay Seth also said Maruti Suzuki planned to invest 17 billion rupees to make 250,000 more cars each year from April 2012, thereby increasing the total capacity from one million units to two and a half times. This expansion would take place at the car company's facility at Manesar. He added that the car maker could further ramp up capacity "if there is a need later."

The car manufacturer attributed the profit increase partly to government stimulus measures aimed at helping the industry ride out the global economic slump. These measures have put more money into the hands of India’s growing middle class.

The company said that favourable conditions in the domestic market supported by the government’s stimulus package and ease of automobile finance helped achieve good sales. Nearly four-fifths of cars in India are bought using car loans.

Maruti Suzuki’s domestic sales in the quarter jumped by 38 per cent to 218,910 units while exports soared by 167 per cent to 39,116 vehicles, spurred by European government incentives to scrap gas guzzlers.
The company is now "cautiously optimistic" about sales volumes in the fourth quarter but added rising commodity prices would put pressure on profit margins.

It is understandable what would be the thought that would go through your mind when you read this blog. You would be obviously eager to know about the launch of the Suzuki Kizashi in India.

Well Suzuki has announced the U.S. pricing for its popular sedan, Kizashi sedan. The car will be available in store in the United States starting from next month. The Kizashi will have a price tag starting at Rs 9 lakh. And this is a tempting price for a car that would stand against models such as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

The Suzuki Kizashi meets the NHTSA's 2014 safety standards. It will be available in various spec levels, with top-end models being priced at Rs 10.50-11.50 lakh. Standard features of the Kizashi include eight airbags, ABS, dual-zone climate control system, EPS stability control, 9-speaker audio system with steering wheel mounted controls, pushbutton keyless start, and projector beam headlamps.

The sedan will be available in both the versions of all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive. And the latter will have a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Kizashi will also be available in a high-performance GTS model that will have a six-speed manual or performance-tuned CVT with steering wheel paddle shifters. The optional features of the car will include leather upholstery, automatic rain sensing wipers power-adjustable seats, and automatic headlamps and rear proximity sensors.

Maruti Suzuki will display Kizashi at the Auto Expo in Delhi, which will be held in January next year. The Kizashi is expected hit Indian roads India by mid-2010. But in India, it might be 20% more expensive than it is in the U.S.

In India it is known as Maruti Suzuki A-Star, but outside India it is Suzuki Alto. The car now has a new mileage record to its credit. The car has completed a mileage marathon in Australia. And this time it was successful in achieving a mileage figure of 25km/l overall. And this is a record. The car had an amazing mileage of 50km/l in city. And these amazing numbers helped the car become the most fuel efficient car of all the vehicles that was a part of the marathon. The Suzuki Alto had completed a marathon run across New Zealand last month, averaging as much as 22.5km/l.

The marathon, Global Green Challenge, ran from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia. It placed conventional and alternative fuel cars against each other in a 3,040km real world test. The winner of the challenge was the vehicle judged to have recorded the biggest progress over its official fuel burning figure. The 'Light' and 'Small' car categories were won by the Suzuki Alto. It also topped the 'Best urban cycle' category and recorded overall CO2 emissions of 89.9g/km, using just 123 litres of fuel for the seven-day trip.

The Suzuki Alto or rather Maruti Suzuki A-Star uses a simple combination of lightweight design, aerodynamic efficiency and a small and efficient 1.0-litre petrol engine. The Alto was able to beat similar size diesel cars such as Ford Fiesta ECOnetic Turbo Diesel and MINI Cooper D, cars those are widely accepted as the most fuel efficient cars in the segment.

Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo in IndiaMaruti Suzuki, the small car leader, certainly has a knack of doing things its own way. It has launched two exciting new models in Indian roads since January, the A-star and Ritz. Just about a couple of days back, Maruti Suzuki launched their revamped Grand Vitara boosted with that extra punch of power.

Now that the company has finished its assignments in a hurry, they are settling down to retinker their cars, all existing models, with the new K-series engines. Maruti starts the operation under the hood of the Zen Estilo where the old engine would be replaced with the new 1.0 litre K-series engine.

The engine developed with innovative technologies that will produce around 67bhp as well as increase the fuel efficiency with improved performance. Currently Zen Estilo which is available in 1.1-litre in-line 4 cylinder engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The car may also get some minor makeovers but the details are not confirmed. The Maruti Zen Estilo is a blend of Suzuki MR Wagon (not sold in India) and Wagon R in terms of style and engine respectively.

Hope the new version of Estilo would bring some good charm to its sales. The launch date is not yet known but this little wonder from Maruti Suzuki’s stable will be definitely seen in all new avatar.

India’s top car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is a worried house. Their problem is that only two of their models – Swift hatchback and Swift DZire sedan have been contributing extensively to overall sales while other models haven’t been very popular.

This is not a good sign for the company inspite of their having posted the highest growth among all car manufacturers in India. The MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki Mr. Nakanishi, has been very frank in admitting this fact and the company has been working towards a solution to this.

A reason for this could be that after the Maruti 800 and Swift, other cars from Maruti’s stable haven’t been very different. Industry analysts also suggest that the Alto, Zen, and WagonR were actually just differently built 800s. Space and design of cars in the Maruti line-up didn’t see much variation either until the Swift hatchback arrived. Encouraged by the response to Swift hatch, Maruti launched the DZire sedan, knowing fully well that it would be a winner from the start.

The difference between the two phases of Maruti Suzuki – the 800-based cars and the Swift-based cars, is the change in engine options. People wanted more power, better fuel efficiency, and more interior space. Maruti also offers diesel options on the Swift hatchback. Maruti Suzuki needs to focus on offering something new to the Indian people as the competition continuously thickens.

‘Going green’ is the new mantra in car industry amidst rising environmental pollution and fuel prices. Many car manufacturers are joining the ‘green revolution’ to attract environment conscious car buyers.

India’s car giant Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch electric cars and compressed natural gas (CNG) variants of its three or four car models. The CNG variants of its car models is likely to arrive by 2010 or 201.

Currently, the company is studying the possibility of the electric cars and developing the technology for India. In a venture with U.S. based General Motors, Suzuki has already developed a fuel cell technology which is presently being tested in the Hybrid SX4 in Japan. The engine is offered with a mixture of fuel cell and high-pressure hydrogen.

Besides this, the company has also tested the hybrid technology on WagonR for the Japanese market. Whether the hybrid version of WagonR will be seen on the Indian roads is still unknown. The company has already launched the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) variants of the Maruti 800 and Wagon R.

Maruti wants to upgrade all its car models including the Maruti 800 and the Omni. This decision is mainly taken by the company to meet the Bharat Stage IV emission norms that will be effective from 2010. Earlier Maruti had announced to phase out the models that do not obey the forthcoming emission norms, but later it decided to modify them as par the emission norms.

The company is now working on the existing engines and trying to make them compliant with the Bharat stage norms. The new generation K-series engines are more efficient than the older ones and a little upgradation will further ensure improved fuel efficiency and reduced carbon dioxide emission.

In addition to the modified K-series engines, other existing engines after upgradation will enhance the power as well as the performance of Maruti cars. This will be a double treat for car buyers who can drive home their favourite cars with better mileage while safeguarding the nature from harmful gases.

MRF tyres has announced lockout at its Arkonam plant in Tamil Nadu due to labour unrest. The ongoing labour strike at the factory has compelled MRF to shut off the facility. MRF is India’s top tyre manufacturing company that is involved in manufacturing a wide range of best quality tyres. It has six production facilities across the country and exports its products to over 75 countries globally.

MRF is a supplier to the country’s leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki. As the strike is likely to stretch up to a week or more, Maruti will not be able to roll out cars from its facilities until tyres are supplied. Many popular Maruti Suzuki cars are already having a long waiting period after booking. Car models like the Swift and the Swift D’Zire have a minimum waiting period of two months while the models like Alto also have good demand in the market.

Recently, the company has also launched its global car ‘Ritz’ in the Indian market. The deadlock between the tyre manufacturer and the labours is going to impact Maruti Suzuki severely. This will further increase the waiting period of the Maruti’s flagship models and will also affect the supply of the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Ritz. Though Maruti is looking for an alternative to ensure supplies, it is really difficult for the company to manage the present crisis. Hopefully, the strike gets over soon making things easy for both MRF and Maruti Suzuki.

New Maruti Suzuki Cars In India

Maruti Suzuki is known to pioneer many innovative ideas since 1983. Its successful strategies has made the company India’s largest car manufacturer. Maruti still continues the trend which is now inspiring many global car manufacturers. What has attracted them is the way Maruti Suzuki manages to improve its brand image with every launch. They are trying to emulate the idea of launching a hatchback and a sedan version of the same model.

Maruti has the Swift hatch and the Swift DZire sedan available in both petrol and diesel variants. Car manufacturers like Toyota, Volkswagen, Honda Motors, and Ford Motors want to imitate the same philosophy. They plan to use the same technology for their future launches in India and abroad. It has been learnt that Toyota plans to launch a small and a big car based on the Yaris platform. Volkswagen plans to do the same with the upcoming car model Polo. But, Volkswagen should be careful not to eat its subsidiary Skoda India’s share which has a small car Fabia and big sedans in the premium segment. Similarly, Honda Motors will launch the small car ‘Jazz’ which is based on the City platform. This policy actually saves time and is cost effective while providing options for the buyers in a single platform.

Maruti is not ready to phase out the models Maruti 800 and Omni and is planning to retain the models in the market against its announcement. This year in April, the company has declared that it will stop the production of these cars due to tighter emission norms. It had also revealed that the necessary modification of the engines to make it comply with the emission norms will involve a heavy investment and this is the reason it is planning to pull out the models from the market. It is said that Maruti plans to phase out the cars eyeing the strong competition from the Nano.

But the company clearly states that the debut of the Nano will not affect M800’s sales and it is not in the mood to take out the car from its product portfolio. Instead, it is working on upgrading the Maruti 800 and Omni to obey the Bharat Stage 4 emission norms that will be applicable from 2010. Well, Maruti has taken an intelligent step by not discontinuing its iconic car models M800 and Omni.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Cars In India

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, the stretched version of the sporty Swift hatchback is so much in demand that the company is unable to supply enough car models to the dealers.

In the Indian car market, the Swift Dzire is available in both petrol and diesel version. Among the two variants, the diesel version rejoices a comparatively higher demand than the petrol counterpart. The waiting period of the petrol version is nearly six months and for the diesel version the waiting time is still longer. As the company feels the demand for the diesel variant is plunging, it has scaled down the production of the car. However, according to dealers nearly 80 percent of the people opt for the diesel variant. The company should increase the overall production of the car so that buyers do not have to wait much to drive home their dream car.

Wednesday, 22 April 2009

Despite the prevalent recession, few car models are still experiencing good sales with long waiting list and manufacturers struggling to meet the demand. The shinning car models in this time of downturn are Maruti Suzuki Swift's two versions- hatch and sedan, Mahindra Xylo and Hyundai i20.

The newly launched Xylo has a waiting period of two months. Amazingly, the demand for Xylo is not affected even after Mahindra and Mahindra increased the price of the car by Rs 10,000 and Rs 12,000 in March. Sales continue to be strong inspite of all odds. Though Mahindra and Mahindra upped their production targets from 120 units per day to 135 units per day, it is still struggling to narrow the demand-supply ratio. It is noticed that the Xylo is snatching the market share of its siblings like the Scorpio and the Bolero.

The two models of the Maruti Suzuki Swift are also witnessing a great demand with a waiting period of 3-4 months for each model. The company has recorded a booking of over 10,000 vehicles a month. Initially, the company produced 3,000 Swift DZires a month which is now scaled up by 7,000 cars due to the surge in demand.

Hyundai is also celebrating the success of i20 bagging 2,000 bookings for the car every month. Hyundai i20 was launched in December last year and had not expected to sell more than 1,000 units a month. The company has scaled up the production to meet the increased demand for the car.

These are signs that depict that the Indian car industry is doing roaring business despite of the slowdown. It also proves that some models do well in any market conditions. They are the winning models for this year.

Swift owners can now relish their car ownership with a new web portal exclusively designed for the customers. Eyeing the growing popularity of various forums, blogs, and social networking sites, Maruti Suzuki has recently revealed its plan to launch a website that will entirely focus on the car model Swift. It is estimated that of the 2,000 various communities on Orkut, 50,000 users are Swift owners. This clearly depicts the increasing dependency of car enthusiasts on internet to share and discuss their knowhow of cars.

As per a recent joint survey by media agencies, Maruti’s expenditure per vehicle is around Rs 4,000. This is comparatively lower than Hyundai which spends Rs 8,000 and Tata Motors that spends Rs 16,000. The total expenditure is for test drives, road shows, promotions, financing options and others. Now the company has increased their digital ad expenditure by 4-5 percent, compared to print.

Maruti Suzuki wants to bring down the per-car-spend by accessing internet communities and social networking sites. However, there is no confirmation about when the portal will be launched.

Thursday, 16 April 2009

With the rising air pollution and fuel prices, new innovative and advanced engines are the need of time. It is the engine that actually drives the car and influences the way cars perform and produce emissions. Also, the increasing consumers’ interest in fuel-efficient and nature-friendly vehicles are soaring the demand of innovative engines.

Eyeing the current market, Maruti Suzuki has just unveiled its new generation K series engine named as K12M. This new engine is proudly India’s first engine compliant to BS IV emission norms and will offer best-in-class fuel efficiency and performance. The new engine will also reduce emissions and lower NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness).

The new engine retains the technical superiority and fuel efficiency that Maruti offered with the first generation K series engine that is presently fitted in the Maruti Suzuki A-Star. But with this Maruti moves a step ahead in its efforts to produce fuel efficient and green engine technology for car buyers in India. Gladly, it also strengthens its focus on maximizing the environmental benefits.

The new and powerful K12M engine will be fitted in Maruti’s forthcoming premium compact car, the Ritz. The introduction of this green engine in the proposed car will definitely increase the worth of the car in the Indian car market. By introducing the new K series engine just before the launch of Ritz, Maruti has simply developed a strong platform for the upcoming car.

Friday, 3 April 2009

After receiving the green signal from ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology) for its 6th global car ‘Ritz’, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the car soon in the Indian car market. The Ritz is speculated to replace the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and is expected to hit the Indian roads by this May.

Ritz will come fitted with a 1.2-litre KB series petrol engine as well as 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine with a price tag ranging from Rs 4 Lakh to Rs 5 Lakh. The car is known as Splash in Europe and other developed markets and will be positioned below the sporty Swift and above the global car A-star in India. Though it will carry a very spacious cabin because of its high roof structure just like the Wagon R, it will be slightly shorter than the Swift.

Ritz is the 9th small car from Maruti Suzuki’s stable that will compete with the Hyundai i10, Skoda Fabia, Ford Fusion, Fiat Palio and the Tata Indica Vista. Though a confirm date is not yet decided but it is expected to make its presence in the Indian car market before the Honda Jazz and the Fiat Grande Punto.

New face of Maruti Suzuki Swift is still under the wraps and is expected to make its first international debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

Having a new face doesn’t mean that the fastest selling hatchback in the Indian car market will be completely replaced by a new design. But it will have minor cosmetic changes that will definitely add more drama and expression to the visual appeal.

The Swift in new getup will retain its unique design with rounded front fascia, imposing rear, and short rear overhang. The modifications in the next generation Swift will include a new set of taillights, bumper, and grille. It is also speculated that the new Swift will be longer, wider, and more spacious than the present day Swift.

The drivetrain may not differ much except a new range of petrol engines delivering between 90 and 130 bhp along with a new diesel engine that will generate 80 bhp. But the actual picture will be only revealed once the mask is removed at the Paris Motor Show.

In December we had informed about Maruti Suzuki planning to launch a new small car in India. The new car which was earlier named as ‘Splash’ will now enter the Indian car industry with a new name called Ritz. Hailing from the B+ car segment, Ritz is festooned with a host of advanced technologies along with splashy interiors.

Most of the car enthusiasts are aware of this. But we have some more to add onto this. The upcoming model has cleared the whole vehicle test approval ceremony conducted by the International Centre of Automotive Technology (ICAT). After clearing all the tests, Ritz now gets the green signal from ICAT to roll out into the Indian car market.

ICAT is a part of National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) that plays a vital role in the development of automobile industry in the country. At present it’s working on the expansion of its Manesar plant with an investment of Rs 440 Crore. The plant will get an additional land area of 46 acres and will be equipped with a power-train laboratory, engine dynamometers, an emission laboratory with Euro V capability, a passive safety laboratory as well as vehicle test tracks.

Though Nano is a big challenge for the small cars manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki is not much affected by the launch of the ultra-cheap car. When many car manufacturers are rushing towards the small car race, Maruti Suzuki has not revealed its interest to enter the Nano segment.

The company is optimistic of its existing contender sales in the market however it’s aware of the fact that the world's cheapest car will have a marginal impact on sales of Maruti 800 (closest competitor of Nano). Maruti Suzuki is ready to face the competition and is also obstinate to cut down the price of Maruti 800. Nano is 8 percent shorter in exterior dimension compared to Maruti 800 but has 21 percent more spacious interior. However in terms of mileage and price Nano leads the Maruti 800. Will the Nano prove to be a threat to the Maruti Suzuki cars? Well, it is still an unanswered question and will be revealed within a few months.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift Cars in India

Maruti Suzuki’s famed and winning hatchback Swift has again heralds its success by bagging an impressive sales number of 3 Lakh. Amazingly, this car only took three years and eight months to reach the 3-lakh milestone.

Since its launch in May 2005, the car has always seen an upward trend in terms of sales. In less than 21 months, it achieved sales figure of one lakh and progressing in the same success lane it again reached the sales number of one lakh in just 13 months. The car has received many accolades in India as well as in other countries. Incredibly, Swift was crowned with the title of ‘Car-of-the-Year’ in 11 countries including India due to its sporty looks, superior safety features, and dynamic driving.

Swift has set a radical new trend in Maruti Suzuki’s image representing a new philosophy and fresh thinking of the company. Maruti has intelligently launched both the petrol and diesel variants of the car to lure car buyers. The Swift diesel variant also marked new benchmarks for diesel cars further increasing its popularity.

This is not the end, the car has a long way to go and it is certainly going to keep its eminent image in the Indian car industry.

Used Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cars in IndiaRightly said “Every cloud has a silver lining” and we can now evidence this idiom. Take the instance of aftermaths of recession on the car industry. Surprisingly, when the credit crunch has highly impacted on the price of new cars, the price of used cars went down by whopping 30%.

It’s more shocking to know that for the first time over 1000 cars are lined up in the Bangalore’s market in a span of only four months. This situation is created mainly due to the increasing job layoffs in the IT industry. IT professionals holding pink slips are no more capable of affording expensive four wheelers and are damping their cars into the used market. Even multinational companies and real estate developers are disposing luxury cars from their fleet.

This scenario has flooded the pre-owned car market with huge population of cars and as the number of car inventory in the market is increasing, used car prices are falling down.

Just imagine a used BMW 3 Series clocked just 300 km is available at Rs 25 Lakh and a used 2008 Honda City at Rs 6 Lakh. Even the three months old Maruti Suzuki Alto is tagged with a price of Rs 1 Lakh. There are people who are benefiting from the downturn and buying luxury and high-end used cars at a much affordable prices.

So, it’s the best time for those who desire to buy high-end cars at affordable prices.

The Maruti Suzuki’s little baby is available in three variants – LXi, VXi, and the top-end model ZXi. A-Star comes with the price tag ranging from Rs 3.47 to Rs 4.1 Lakh. Raised hood, larger air dam, attractive eye shaped headlamps further enhances its sporty looks. The interior is the perfect blend of contemporary and traditional design with spacious, elegant, and stylish cabin.

Built under the slogan ‘small cars for big future’, the new car is rooted from Suzuki's challenge to make India the global hub for small cars. Powered by 1.0 litre K10B petrol engine and 5-speed manual transmission, the car also meets the safety standards with airbags, ABS (Anti-lock brake system) and also reflects the Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept.

A-Star is completely a 'green car' complying with the European ELV norms which means that 85 percent of the car is recyclable. Now the most important feature that will make it stand apart in its class is the mileage, which is said to be around 19 km/litre.

The Indian car market is shaken due to the economic pressure and at this stage of unstable market the sales graph is tremendously falling down.

In the spot of darkness, Maruti Suzuki saw a ray of light in term of sales. The leading car major has experienced a sales hike of 41% of its income during the period of Oct 2008 in the state of Orissa.

The company recorded an income amount of 747 units across all its models in the last month of this year compared to the income of 616 units set down in May of this year.

The models that bagged the credit for pushing the sales are cute and fuel-efficient Alto with sale of 252 units, which was followed by Wagon-R at 190 units and Swift at 111 units.

Looks like the car sales are finally getting back to track!

The winning hatchback model Maruti Suzuki Swift is now available in a special edition christened as ‘Attitude’ and the car is full of attitude because it is impressively personified with an appealing look and improved aesthetics.

The car interior is ornamented with a silver finish further beautified with silver stitched leather. Few other exciting features in new, fresh, and smarter Swift are climate control system, keyless entry, leather wrapped steering wheel, sporty alloy wheels, rear spoiler, chrome tipped tailpipe, and tinted window. Powered by 16 valve 13.L engine, the car is expected to deliver improved performance and fuel-efficiency.

If anyone of you is willing to own the Attitude with pride, then you may have to cross the Indian boundaries. Unfortunately this limited edition of Swift has not been introduced in the Indian car market.

As the Swift is gaining packs and bunches of appreciation from its customers, this version may hit Indian shores sooner or later.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer has a pack of successful cars running on Indian roads. The only thing that Maruti lacks is one car in the D segment in line with the hottest sedans like Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta, and Skoda Octavia.

Driven by the heartache of its weakness, Maruti decides to roll out a car based on the Kizashi concept. This car will definitely enter Maruti’s empty D segment.

Priced at Rs. 10 lakh, the Kizashi concept is a vicious looking machine with well shaped black glossy grille, LED lights, and hard core bumper. The car will roll out with exciting and innovative features to make it competitive in the Indian car market.

Kizashi based car is currently at a nascent stage may be still in thoughts and minds of Maruti’s officials. But, definitely the car will soon be seen on Indian roads.

The production version of this ferocious looking car is expected to roll out from Maruti’s new plant in Manesar, Haryana. After the launch of high gear Maruti Suzuki Swift and Maruti Suzuki SX4, the company has expanded its footprints outside the boundaries of small cars. With Kizashi being next in line, Maruti seems to do wonder.

Tata Nano has gained most attention among upcoming cars. There is list of cars waiting to hit the road. And one such model is ‘A-Star’ which was unveiled in the 2008 Auto Expo.

The car is expected to make a grand appearance by 2008 and few prototypes have been caught testing indicating that it should be ready for the people by this Diwali. The car carries 3 cylinders with 1 litre capacity engine churning out 64 bhp. It will also offer 1.2 litres, 80 bhp petrol units and would compete with the recently launched Hyundai’s i10 Kappa.

Now the most awaited part, the price! It will carry the price tag ranging between Rs.3-4 lakh and the high model will be enhanced with airbags and ABS (Anti-lock brake system). The car looks like an animation movie car with its ‘cute’ front design, sporty rear and sturdy bumpers.

Now only time can tell us who will celebrate Diwali in full swing. Will it be the Nano who will steal the show or A-Star will add another star to Maruti-Suzuki?

WagonR will soon be hailing in place of black-n-yellow taxis. The old-aged black and yellow cabs that vroom past the Mumbai roads may soon become a history. Mumbai cab owners are in process of signing an agreement with Maruti Udyog Limited to support the replacement of taxi cabs with Maruti Wagon-R.

Cab owners are marching ahead with the shifting trend and demand of the commuters. The main idea behind the replacement is that the Wagon-R cabs are financially viable for both the cab owners and average Mumbaikars. It is easy and feasible to run an air-conditioned Wagon-R at the existing taxi price of Rs 13.

The government is also putting forward the desired help and supporting the cause of upgrading the Mumbai taxis. According to the government Mumbai is a hub of stock market and is well defined as a ‘business world of India’. Being such a world class city, it is required to have the best infrastructure including the best taxis or cabs running on roads.

Car companies are introducing discounts and freebies to attract car buyers now a days. Most dealers find it difficult to sell a car without them. In fact the discounts and freebies are more than the hike in prices announced lately. The price hike seems to have taken a back seat and rampant sales are reported from leading manufacturers. Though the Maruti Suzuki India has complained the most about increased inputs costs, it is quietly offering freebies to its car buyers to maintain its favoritism among the buyers. People buying a Zen Estilo stand to get a 100 percent insurance at a price of Re 1. Also on the offer list is a free music system worth Rs 6000. If you are exchanging an old Maruti car for Zen Estilo an exchange bonus of Rs 10,000 is being offered.

Buyer can also get the popular car Alto with offers like free insurance, 4 percent loan discount and an exchange bonus which is up to Rs 35,000. Maruti knows how to keep customers happy!
