India’s top car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is a worried house. Their problem is that only two of their models – Swift hatchback and Swift DZire sedan have been contributing extensively to overall sales while other models haven’t been very popular.

This is not a good sign for the company inspite of their having posted the highest growth among all car manufacturers in India. The MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki Mr. Nakanishi, has been very frank in admitting this fact and the company has been working towards a solution to this.

A reason for this could be that after the Maruti 800 and Swift, other cars from Maruti’s stable haven’t been very different. Industry analysts also suggest that the Alto, Zen, and WagonR were actually just differently built 800s. Space and design of cars in the Maruti line-up didn’t see much variation either until the Swift hatchback arrived. Encouraged by the response to Swift hatch, Maruti launched the DZire sedan, knowing fully well that it would be a winner from the start.

The difference between the two phases of Maruti Suzuki – the 800-based cars and the Swift-based cars, is the change in engine options. People wanted more power, better fuel efficiency, and more interior space. Maruti also offers diesel options on the Swift hatchback. Maruti Suzuki needs to focus on offering something new to the Indian people as the competition continuously thickens.

Maruti Suzuki keeps repeating the records with every model it launch. The company seems to have the ‘Midas Touch’ to make gold out of everything. First it was the M800, which sold huge numbers followed by the Alto, and now it is the Swift.

The small car has crossed the 2 lakh mark within 36 months of its launch. It has emerged as the fastest selling hatch in India. The popularity of Swift also pushed the company to launch the Swift DZire, a compact sedan with all the basic Swift characteristics.

The smart looks, quick acceleration and great performance of the vehicle are adored by Indian consumers. The servicing facility provided by company make it more popular among the buyers. The Swift car has brought a radical change in car designing in India.

Maybe the Swift action was just waiting to happen as competitors in this segment were few and cars with striking features are yet to launch. Till then Swift can enjoy the glory.

The success of cute, stylish and powerful Dzire which has generated a lot of excitement and curiosity among the car lovers, will be very crucial for Maruti to cement its position in sedan segment.

Swift sedan Dzire is making a sudden appearance on Wednesday and not on Saturday as aired before. It it will be launched on Wednesday. It could give Maruti Suzuki two days of publicity and long queues of buyers booking it over the weekend.

Whatever, it is a clever strategy by MSIL to make quick sales and ensure long demand over several months. Its only sedan in market now SX4 which is already on top of the charts and Dzire seem to repeat history. Many believe that though the car similar to Swift in appearance has several firsts in its features.

Recently most of the car ads proclaim that their cars come with ABS. Are you wondering what this ABS is? ABS stands for Anti-lock Braking System.

When it comes to the working prospect, unlike the cars without ABS, cars with ABS will help to stop a car without any skidding. Invariable of how fast your car is moving, if you apply the brake, the car stops immediately though technically there are many actions taking place in a matter of few seconds. The anti-lock brakes use speed sensors to monitor the speed at which each wheel is turning. This data is shared with the vehicle's powertrain control module (PCM) computer. If the PCM detects that one of the wheels is about to lock-up during braking, it takes control and avoids locking, therefore providing the driver with the maximum available braking capacity of the car and also allowing the driver to maintain steering control.

ABS being one of the safest features is being introduced in most of the recently launched and launching cars. Even the drivers of compact cars like Maruti Swift can experience the working ability of an ABS.

These brakes come it handy when you need emergency breaking and on slippery roads. So when you head to buy your next car ask the dealer, if the car is equipped with ABS.
