India’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Tuesday showcased a concept prototype of its six-seater family car at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi. The concept prototype that Maruti Suzuki launched was called as RIII. The company clearly stated that it was showcasing the prototype for now and the variants will be decided later. Concept RIII is a next generation compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle designed in-house by a team of young and energetic Maruti Suzuki Engineers. This concept car was built on the central theme of ‘togetherness’. RIII offers elegance, sportiness, excellent roominess and space for the big family with bigger needs without the car looking awkwardly voluminous or bulky. This car was conceptualized for semi-urban cities and congested lanes and by-lanes of the cities. The small car major will also showcase its electric vehicle built on the lines of Eeco, an affordable family car, available in two versions with three rows and two rows seating options with the seating capacity of five and seven passengers respectively. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shinzo Nakanishi told reporters that Maruti is optimistic about its sales growth in 2010. ‘The company will be able to maintain its sales growth despite the pressure of raw material costs, inflation and the rise of the yen against the rupee,’ Nakanishi said. Asked if Maruti will be able to maintain its 50 percent market share over the next three years, he said: ‘This is not an easy job this year with so many new cars being launched. We have to make preparations for this.’ Labels: Concept-Car, Maruti-Suzuki-Concept-RIII, Maruti-Suzuki-India, MPV

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has declared that it is developing a new Multi-purpose Vehicle (MPV). This new MPV from Maruti Suzuki’s mill will be pitted against the best-selling Toyota Innova. Christened as the RIII, it will make its debut at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo. The RIII is likely to be built on a stretched SX4 platform. It will have three rows of seats and innovative packaging. It will be a monocoque MPV and will be car-like in its driving dynamics besides having high ground clearance and decent width considering the platform it is based on. It has to be noted that the R III has been designed exclusively by Indian engineers in barely nine months. At present, Maruti Suzuki does not have any car in the MPV segment. The car maker could use its brilliant 1.2L K-series engine and 1.3 VVT on the R III and a diesel version of the car is also expected if the R III has to take on the Innova. It is likely that the popular Fiat 1.3-liter Multijet will be employed. However, Volkswagen’s recent involvement with Suzuki raises the possibility that the R III might carry a powerplant from the German carmaker. The R III is still in concept stage and will take another 18-24 months to make it to the showrooms. It is also part of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to explore more profitable segments of the market and lessen its reliance on the small car sector where it is totally dominant. Maruti Suzuki will exhibit as many as 17 vehicles at the upcoming Auto Show under the theme ‘Joys of Life.’ Its illustrious list of displays will include new launches like the Eeco, Suzuki Kizashi, which the company will import solely for the show. All of you would be waiting impatiently for the Delhi Auto Expo. And being a major auto event that will be hosted by India very shortly, we are all excited about the auto show. Now, we here are Carazoo.com had already covered the exciting news about how more and more manufacturers are flooding towards the Auto Expo. And the most interesting fact is that the auto makers find the Delhi Auto Expo the most significance and popular one. And that could be the one reason why the auto makers, at least a few of them, declined to continue in the Tokyo Motor show and was keen to join in the Delhi Auto Expo.
Toyota is expected to be showcasing two of its much awaited models, Toyota Avanza and Toyota Prius, Interesting, uh? And we still can’t confirm whether these are the only two models the car manufacturer will be showcasing or will there be new cars announced to be showcased at the Auto Show by the manufacturer, you never know.
Avanza is an MPV from the Toyota stable. It is a five seater and once launched in India, the Japanese auto maker expects it be a bigger hit than its most-popular model Toyota Innova. One reason behind this expectation could be its low price, it is priced lesser than Innova.
The Avanza will be equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Wait, the Show is promising a real car raining season in India. Labels: Delhi-Auto-Show, MPV, New-Toyota-Innova, Toyota, Toyota-Avanza, Toyota-Cars, Toyota-Prius

It seems like Fiat is echoing itself everywhere in the car market. The car manufacturer is running around, in fact throughout the world, and launching new cars. The new car from Fiat, christened Fiorino, is a first type of its kind, a small van car. The name has it all the car is a crossover of a small car and an MPV. The launch of Fiat Fiorino in Paris can be seen as a very intelligent decision by Fiat as the company enjoys a very stable position in France. This passenger car combined the characteristics of an MPV and a small car in a very elegant fashion. This five seater crossover can be used for a leisure trip with your family or an adventurous journey with your friends. The car with a length of 3959mm, width of 1216mm and height of 1735mm is a true compact car and echoes the design principal of the car “Free Space”. The two models - 1.3 liter 75 bhp Multijet and 1.4 liter 73 bhp petrol engines has the option of 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. A very distinctive feature of the car is that it has great fuel efficiency and that too with less carbon dioxide emission, which makes the car is a very eco-friendly machine and a people friendly machine too. And all of this is offered at a very low maintenance cost and buying cost. Labels: Fiat, Fiat-Fiorino, MPV

Toyota Innova, India's most preferred Multi Purpose Vehicle, is all set to get a facelift soon. The sporty looking Innova is on the roads everywhere in the country. It’s been the most preferred choice for cabs and is very popular with large families. Its competitive pricing has done it wonders. Toyota wants to give the Indian public an even better looking Innova. The slightly re-designed Innova could be on the market by 2008. The second generation Innova will undergo several minor changes. The focus will be on bumpers, headlights and taillights. On the inside, the model could add a new climate control system and parking sensors. With the new Innova speculated to be larger than its predecessor, parking sensors could be just what the people would want for a long car such as this. Toyota’s idea of a facelift for the Innova could be to get a better hold over the MPV segment. With news of the Mercedes-Benz Viano hitting the market soon, we aren’t too surprised. Price is definitely not something Toyota would worry about with the Viano. Labels: Facelift, Innova, Mercedes-Benz, MPV, Toyota, Viano
