Global car manufacturers who had only launched mid-size sedans, luxury cars, big SUVs, MPVs and Wagon are now changing their minds and considering to launch small cars in India to capitalize on the surge in demand for small cars in Indian auto market. Volkswagen is no exception to this as it promised to launch two small cars in next four years in India.

Audi has always been synonymous with luxury and comfort. It would never give any chance to its customers to blame it for quality as it keeps releasing new version of its luxury cars very frequently to attract more customers. Now, Audi is releasing the new A4 luxury sedan in July with certain modification and additional features. The A4 will be sold at the price of locally assembled car in India.

Though the new A4 will be imported initially, it will sport the price tag of a locally assembled car. The new version of A4 was already launched in Europe a few months ago and became a grand success there. Audi India will assemble the A4 at its plant at Shndra and expects to sell 500 units of the new A4 in the first year.

Indian auto industry is undoubtedly becoming a hottest hub for global players. Launching of new luxury cars, SUVs and sedans have become common these days in India by foreign car manufacturers like BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz in collaboration with Indian car manufacturers. Now, Toyota has joined this bandwagon by announcing the launch of Lexus cars in India.

Lexus brands have already captured the luxury car market globally and became hit all over the world including USA. Lexus is highest selling global marquee and will reach the Indian market through Toyota. Lexus cars are crafted with elegant design, powerful engines and superb interiors to woo people to buy these brands in India.

Toyota does not want to release any of the Lexus brands in hurry but will take at least a year to launch them. It will launch LS 450 sedan first and later on LX 470 SUV. Surely, slow and steady wins the game!

The launch of new Mercedes-Benz C-Class didn’t get much media coverage at last month’s Auto Expo in New Delhi, even though I couldn’t get my eyes off this beauty. Now when mini-car talks have become almost stale, the luxury car is slowly making an appearance in the news. To everyone’s surprise, this entry-level sedan has sold over 200 units during the three weeks since its official launch – one of these beauties is lying in my friend’s garage and I actually got to ride in it!

I haven’t ridden a smoother vehicle…it was awesome! I took it to the highway – no vibrations, cool braking, excellent acceleration, and I will run out of adjectives if I try to describe it all. All I can say is ride it to know it!

Rolls-Royce has picked up its global car sales by 25% as compared to their figures in 2006. Apparently, this is the first time ever that Rolls-Royce has reached four digit sales figures after going global in 2003. They returned to India after a gap of 50 years, launching the Phantom super luxury sedan in 2005. The Phantom has been very popular in India.

Apart from India, Rolls-Royce saw outstanding sales in the U.A.E. and China where the car manufacturer has grown by more than 50%. However, North America still remains the biggest single market for Rolls-Royce.

Hyundai stands for cars with clever technology and affordable prices. As the brand continues to liquidate some of its sporty assets from its mid-premium sedan Elantra, inside sources reveal that it is planning to introduce a series of new vehicles of which PA is just a start. The latest news is Hyundai's new plan to debut a big luxury sedan for India in 2 years.

Current information suggests that the brand is currently working on around four brand new vehicles. The upcoming models from Hyundai are PA, Santa Fe, i-30, and the new premium sedan D-segment. Hyundai is getting ready to shake up the new global sedan model developed and produced in India. Though the model name is yet to be announced, the company has confirmed that the proposed D-segment car, will hit the market in a "couple of years". The yet to be named vehicle is said to be under development with a highly competitive prize.

A couple of questions are still in the air, such as the car will be mated with which type engine? What will be the performance? The new model will compete with which models? Well, we’ll have to wait for further announcements from Hyundai, but the wait may not be long!
