New Tata Nano Cars In India

So far, Tata Nano has had no competition in its segment. However, it may have to gear up to face a rival pretty soon. According to the UK media, Hyundai Motors is working on development of an ultra-cheap car that will compete against the Nano. Hyundai is the second largest car manufacturer in India. Currently, Hyundai is the biggest rival of Indian car market leader Maruti Suzuki India, a subsidiary of Japanese Suzuki Motor Corporation.

The UK media has revealed that Indian engineers along with their Korean counterparts in Hyundai Company are working on micro car project. The car is expected to be launched in 2010. There is more news, the micro car will first be released in the European market and will arrive in India subsequently. Hyundai is also planning to bring out other small cars that will be equipped with 0.8 litre and 1.0 litre engines. But, there has been no official confirmation about this news from Hyundai Motors.

It may be recalled that Tata Motors plans to launch Nano Europa in 2012 for the European market. If Hyundai becomes successful in launching a micro car, it will be ahead of Tata Motors by a full year. This will also expand the market base for Hyundai Motors, which currently commands 20 percent market share in the small car segment.

Hyundai’s portfolio in India includes models like Santro, i10, i20, Verna, Accent, Getz Prime, Sonata Embera, Sonata Transform and Tuscon. Earlier, Hyundai Motors had refused to venture into ultra-cheap car segment. Now, the company seems to have changed its mind.

After launch, the micro car will turn out to be Tata Nano’s first competitor in its own segment.

Hyundai Motors has started a customer centric programme with a view to provide a helping hand to its customers. Named as 'Hyundai Assurance Program', which allow the Hyundai car buyers to return the car within the first year of purchase if a buyer looses his or her source of income. This is an amazing step taken by Hyundai amid the prevailing uncertain economy. But sadly, this offer is only applicable for US customers.

Car which always considered as a status symbol have now turned into a burden for many due the present financial crisis. Maintaining a car has become a costly affair with fluctuating fuel prices. At this time of recession, when layoffs has become everyone’s fear, this type of programme will definitely attract the car buyers towards car showrooms.

The first of its kind programme in the auto industry is held in partnership with an Dallas based national performance management company called WALKAWAY USA. It is a subsidiary of EFG Companies that services the retail automotive industry. The organisation has helped many consumers to walk away from the burden of heavy automotive-related debt.

Excitingly, this Buy Back Cars programme has received good response from car buyers. Hope Hyundai also introduced similar programme in India which will solve the problems of many. This will further help the manufacturer to build brand trust and confidence of customers.

It looks like ultra-low cost cars are raining in India. Ever since, the Tata Motors had shown the way for ultra-low-cost car, many car companies have jumped into the bandwagon. The concept has opened a complete new segment of buyers. However, these noises had been initiated by car manufacturers, who traditionally concentrated on small cars, before moving to ultra-low cost cars.

Recently, Renault-Nissan group announced its tie-up with Bajaj Motors to develop an ultra-low cost small car and pegged the price to $ 2500. Now, Hyundai which already has a successful stint with Santro, Getz and i10 will also launch an ultra-low cost car. The car is likely to be launch in 2012. Now the consumers not only has the Nano, but a line up of ULCC - Bajaj ULC (codename) and Hyundai’s ultra-low cost car are among them. Is three enough? We need more!

Competition is good for consumers. It is not always that you get to witness a healthy competition in corporate, but the car sector is one place where you can see competition that pleases product buyers.

One may remember that Maruti Suzuki SX4 was the bestselling sedan in 2007-08 fiscal years. This success has spurned the rivals to upgrade their marketing strategies to newer levels. Hyundai Motors seems to have taken the competition very seriously.

The company has announced a grand discount of up to Rs 55,000 on its premium sedan Verna. Hyundai is offering a choice of accessories worth Rs 10,500 as an exchange bonus of Rs 15,000 and 4 percent discount on car loan amount. The sum total of the sops given to buyers adds up to 8 percent of the total car value. The car buyer not gets a premium car but also is rewarded with handsome discounts. So, all those who are planning to buy one can avail this attractive discount.

Hyundai Motors has made its remarkable presence in small car segment by introducing stylish and affordable cars like Hyundai i10, Getz Prime, Santro Xing. Hyundai has always been attentive and alert about its position in the car market. It will not take any chance to loose its customers. Hyundai will soon launch Hyundai TB (Think Basic) which would fall in between Santro and Accent.

Hyundai has planned to launch new TB to get hold on Santro’s customers opting for other cars than Santro. The new TB will probably replaced Santro Xing in India. The new Hyundai TB is slightly bigger than Santro with more striking looks and style. It would be able to carry five passengers with more spacious interiors. It will offer 3 engines to choose from. Hyundai is expecting to launch this vehicle immediately after its international launch.
