Toyota Drives Away Prius Hybrid
Toyota was very excited about the launch of its highly successful hybrid car, Toyota Prius Hybrid. Prius Hybrid is a leading hybrid car across the globe and is adorned with superior technology, lower emission levels and excellent fuel efficiency. This hybrid car if launched would be a tough competitor of Honda’s only hybrid car in India, the outstanding Honda Civic Hybrid. But, at present, the company has revised its plan to introduce Prius Hybrid in India. The company may have been decided to push back the launch date seeing the recent discount on Honda Civic Hybrid. A hybrid available at Rs 13.6 Lakh can easily beat a hybrid priced at Rs 22 Lakh. Well, Toyota has made a right move by postponing the launch date. The company is also not satisfied with the infrastructure and duty structure. Now, the wait goes longer for another hybrid car in India. Labels: Hybrid-Cars, Toyota-Cars

New Hybrid by a Layman
You have always heard car manufacturers round the world designing and producing hybrid cars. But, today, something that will interest you is a layman producing a new hybrid car. It’s a feeling of pride that this great layman is from the Indian continent. This man resides in the Indian city of Guwahati, and has developed a hybrid running on solar gas with an engine capacity of 100-cc. He baptizes his car as ‘Kanso’. The car is gearless and has the power to reach a maximum speed of 40 kph. The expected price tag of this new hybrid car is Rs 1.50. The price is definitely comparative to the world’s cheapest car, Tata Nano but both the cars are from different segment. Just imagine solar panels churns out 320 watts of power. If you are really keen to know how the car looks like, then you should visit the Guwahati Auto Fair that starting on February 28. Labels: Car-Manufacturers, Cheapest-Car, Hybrid-Cars, Tata-Nano

Hybrid Cars - Who is next…Hyundai?
Honda has already started the ‘green revolution’ in the Indian auto industry by rolling out the Civic hybrid and Toyota will soon follow the lead by introducing the hybrid version of the Prius to India. And now it is the turn of another major car manufacturer, the Hyundai, to join the revolution. The Hyundai is working on to develop its own hybrid technology and once completed the technology will mated with the small car in India. As per their strategy, they expect to roll out a gasoline-electric hybrid version of its sedans by 2010, which will be later implement in larger hybrid vehicles. But before all this, the company will launch the world’s first hybrid vehicle (Avante) to be powered by LPG and will be the first to adopt advanced lithium polymer batteries. Hope they also plan to roll out similar vehicles (Avante LPG hybrid) in India. Labels: Hybrid-Cars, Hyundai, Small-Cars

Hyundai Eager to Roll out i20
So many cars have rolled out on Indian road this year that it has become difficult to count the numbers. Since the beginning of this year, many cars have been launched. Now, Hyundai is eager to introduce out its small car, the i20.
It is believed that i20 will be an expansion of Hyundai Getz. The company planned to manufacture this car after the great winning success of its recent car model i10. The Getz has not been able to lure customers because of the unsatisfactory looks but i10 has won awards and accolades. The company thereby produces a modification of Getz that would be loaded with classy interiors similar to i10. Getz in terms of leg space is huge with comfortable seating. Just wonder if the car is expanded what would be the area of leg room and size of the rear seat. With the launch of Hyundai i20, the company has tied high hopes, aspirations and expectations. Will the hopes get fulfilled? Will i20 succeed in holding the expectations? No one can answer until the car actually makes the public appearance. Labels: Hybrid-Cars, New-Car

Indian Diesel-Hybrid Car for US
Hybrid cars from an Indian manufacturer for US roads! Sound great. Soon after the launch of Honda Civic Hybrid, all leading companies are planning to launch hybrid in India. But Mahindra has high plans to launch a diesel-hybrid variant of its Scorpio SUV for US. The company has high expectations from this variant and is expecting to launch it by 2010 in the US market. It’s nothing to wonder. The diesel hybrid version will be introduced in US market and manufactured in India. If India is planning to import a car to US then think how fuel efficient the car will be? The US has the toughest emission norms and safety guidelines. India importing cars to America is skeptical. But that’s the truth. To give a believing view to this fact, the company is investing million of dollars in developing a center 100 miles from Mumbai. The center will be dedicated to the production of diesels, hybrids and diesel hybrids. Will Mahindra be successful to deliver a safe and reliable diesel-hybrid SUV? Labels: Hybrid-Cars, US-Market

Hybrid Cars needs Government’s Attention
Global warning is at its peak and India is still far away to combat with the situation. Major air pollution is created by automobile exhausts which can be minimized by the use of green cars. Hybrid cars are good alternative for diesel or petrol vehicle. But these cars are seeking government’s attention. The customs duty and the tax imposed on them are really high. It is the high time for the government to take necessary steps to encourage auto makers for the local production of hybrid cars. India has only one hybrid car ‘Civic Hybrid’ recently launched by Honda Motors. The number will definitely increase if the government drives some policy in favour of these cars. It can cut down the customs duty on such cars which will encourage the car manufacturer to roll out these cars or permit imports at a lower duty for those auto companies who assure to manufacture hybrid cars for a specified period of time. India Rolling for Hybrid Cars
Racing and Racing! Where will the road end? Earlier, Indian car manufacturers were racing for the cheapest cars and now speeding for hybrids. After the launch of Honda Civic Hybrid, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra have also made a high jump on the hybrid bandwagon. Tata and Mahindra are with head and heart involved in producing exclusive hybrid cars using indigenous technology at a very low tax burden. It is believed that these homegrown hybrids will come at a comparatively low cost price. Tata Motors is planning to launch a hybrid of petrol and diesel in its flagship model Indica. The improved version of electric technology will be also seen in a range of Indica and Indigo cars. Simultaneously, Mahindra is working on innovative technology of blending electronics, battery, powerdrive and software to produce a completely new range of hybrid cars. All these cars of Tata and Mahindra are expected to roll out in the next three years – So get ready to wear the green conscience. Labels: Hybrid-Cars, New-Cars

Is India Fit for Hybrid Cars?
Honda Motors has launched its first hybrid car in India. This launch was inspired by the increasing environmental pollution. Honda did not accept diesel for its line up models but have accepted the advanced green technology. The company has spent a large sum of money on this innovative technology but is the expenditure a worth? Will Honda get the returns? Will Indian buyers go for hybrids? These questions are swaying in and out of people’s minds because ours is a developing country and commercially India is not yet prepared for such high-technology cars. Running the car on electricity means more power for charging but do we have continuous supply of electricity in the cities. Do we have smooth roads to run the car? Do we have charging facilities at petrol stations? Do we have enough spare parts for these hybrids? Is government ready to relief tax on such cars? The answer to all is No. Apart from that, the car price is also a concern. With a cost price of Rs 21.5 lakh, only affluent class can afford to buy this car but unfortunately these people are more attracted to class, status and elegance. Nobody can compare the elegance of BMW with Honda Civic sedan, a completely different connotation. The cost price has outraged the advantage of green. It will take time for all Indians to wear a green conscience. Labels: Honda-Cars, Hybrid-Cars
