Here is good news for the car buyers as well as the manufacturers. Earlier when the excise duty was reduced for small cars, big cars did feel the pinch as the segment was excluded from the benefit. But now even they have a reason to smile as the excise duty is reduced on the high-end cars. This benefit will be passed on to the customers in the form of reduced price tag. According to the revised scheme, additional excise duty will be reduced on big cars with engine capacities of 2,000 cc and above by Rs 5,000 per unit. The first car company to declare the price cut is Hindustan Motors, about Rs 6,000 on its partner Mitsubishi's Pajero, Outlander and Montero cars. Other car manufacturers like General Motors, Toyota, BMW, and Tata too have followed suit and announced the price cut but the exact discounted price is not revealed yet. Though some of the car manufacturers have decided to pass on the benefits to the customers, there is other car brand like Honda which refused to reduce the price, stating inflation as one of the primary reasons. But the car manufacturer does not understand the fact that this decision will affect their sales target as other cars will be sold in lower price. Labels: Honda-Cars, Mitsubishi-Cars, Small-Car

India’s “biggest small car” Honda Jazz has received a fairly good response after it was launched in India last month. Jazz with a body styling resembling a MUV and a hefty price tag attached to it is still drawing crowds to the showroom. Honda Motors now has plans to add more power to Jazz. It is speculated that Jazz would be seen with a 1.5-litre engine next year. Jazz which is developed on the Honda City platform will share the same engine of the City under its hood. With more power, the Honda Jazz would cost a little extra with an estimated price of Rs. 70,000 more. Besides 1.5-litre engine, the car would be seen with an optional automatic transmission which will add an extra burden of Rs one Lakh on the pocket of the buyers. Currently Honda jazz is powered by an i.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine which produces 89 bhp and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. With more power Honda Jazz will definitely be a star among its rivals. And with Honda’s reliability and popularity there are people who do not mind paying even bigger price for a small car. Honda Jazz is still young in its segment India. Labels: Honda-Cars, Honda-Jazz, Small-Car

Honda is working on another small car project while it is preparing for the launch of the Jazz. The new small car is likely to carry a price tag below Rs 5 Lakh lesser than the upcoming car Jazz that is expected to cost Rs 7 Lakh. To achieve a cheap price mark, Honda is emphasizing on localizing the component for the production of the car. The new car with its competitive price tag will make Honda face the highly competitive small car segment that is currently dominated by car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, and Chevrolet. Presently car models like the Swift petrol and diesel, Hyundai Getz, Hyundai i20, Skoda Fabia, and Chevrolet U-VA are doing good business in the Indian car market. This will be Honda’s first car that will be built keeping India as a lead market. Lead market for the Jazz is Japan whereas U.S. is the lead market for the Accord and the Civic and Thailand for the City. The company is planning to manufacture the car in large volume unlike the Jazz which is expected to get modest volume production due to its high price. The car will be manufactured at Honda’s new Rajasthan facility that will hold the initial capacity to produce 60,000 cars annually and will be later increased to 2.5 Lakh. Honda’s first contender ‘Jazz’ in the small car segment has already started getting appreciations even before its launch. And the new car with an attractive price tag is sure to strengthen the company’s base in India. Labels: Honda-Cars, New-Car-Launch, Small-Cars

Cars are becoming so friendly that now you can even pamper your pets in your car. It is believed that most of the Americans are crazy for pets especially dogs and to suit their requirement Honda has introduced a dog-friendly car. Dog-friendly car? Sounds too strange but that’s what Honda calls its new car that comes with a cushioned dog bed in the trunk fitted with a built-in water bowl and fan. It also has a ramp to help less agile dogs get into the car. The pet-friendly car is designed on the platform of Honda’s Element utility vehicle that was showcased at the New York Auto Show. Surprisingly, the car was unveiled with the help of a rescue dog named Sammy. Pets have now become more like family for many and this has increases a demand for a special pet-friendly car in the market. Apart from refined features for comfort of the pet the dog-friendly version of Element also comes with easy-wash seat covers so that even if the pet makes it dirty it can be easily cleaned. The most interesting part is the fitted dog bed with restraints to ensure safety of the pet. The car manufacturer is still to add more pet-friendly features in the car that is expected to go on sale in U.S. by the end of this year but no clues whether it will ever come to India. If it does it would be really interesting and incredible. Labels: Car-Manufacturer, Honda-Cars, New-Car

Honda seems to have good time in terms of sales even in the time of recession. Apart from its success in India, the company has witnessed whooping sales in Philippines. The car manufacturer dominated the Philippines passenger car segment with 39% market share. The credit goes to the all-new Honda City that grabbed nearly 60% of the passenger car sales. The third generation City spread the magic with its cutting-edge design and best-in-class features. Other models too chipped in with their share in sales. The sporty looking Civic sales grew by 4% whereas the Honda Jazz and the Accord too posted a good sales growth. If we take a look at the Indian scene, the company is also successful in tantalising the Indian buyers reporting a surge of over 47 % growth in sales in February and 9 % increase in sale in December. Hence, Honda is stepping towards success zone worldwide proving its credentials and efficiency. Labels: Car-Manufacturer, Car-Sales, Honda-Cars

If you are an ardent lover of Honda Cars then it’s time for you to save your pockets. Honda is soon going to raise the prices of its entire range of cars in India by Rs 30,000 to 3,54,000. Though it’s tough to accept the price hike at this stage as recessionary pressure is not completely relieved. But the manufacturers have no other options left with them. In the past 8 months Indian rupee has depreciated by over 16% and the Japanese Yen has strengthened by 10.5%. Currency fluctuations have driven Honda to increase car prices. And this is mainly because it has tremendously increased the cost of import. For some time the manufacturer did absorbed the impact but how long? No car manufacturer can carry on absorbing the impact of high input cost as well as high import cost anymore. And so is Honda. Honda CR-V is an imported car model whose price has been increased by Rs 3, 54,000. The prices of Honda City has been increased in the range of Rs 30, 000 to Rs 35, 000 and Civic has been raised by Rs 50, 000 to Rs 60, 000. Even the Honda Accord will now be costlier by Rs 1, 00, 000. The price of CR-V, Civic and City will be effective from April 1, 2009 whereas Honda Accord will bear the revised price tag from March 16, 2009. Car manufacturers enjoyed a good share of pie when the government announced the 4 per cent cut in CENVAT in December 2008. But despite the reduction in the excise duty, many car manufacturers like Hyundai Motors and Maruti Suzuki increased the prices for its models blaming the rising input costs. Following them, even other car companies like Honda is also likely to hike its car prices of all the models. During the announcement of the excise cut, the revenue department supposedly highlighted the purpose of the reduction that was solely done to benefit car buyers. Initially, the prices were slashed but the car companies in the veil of high input cost hiked the prices again beating the purpose of the cut ordered by the government. Eyeing all this, the government is now in talk with the car companies asking them to pass on the complete benefit of 4 per cent cut in CENVAT to the consumers. It is disappointing that the car manufacturers took away the benefits that were totally entitled for the consumers. Labels: Car-Manufacturers, Car-prices, Honda-Cars

The price of the sporty and agile Honda CR-V is set to increase by about 30 per cent in the coming months. The main culprit to blame for this is the devaluation of rupee as major portion of the components is imported from countries like Japan and Thailand. Following the Honda CR-V, other car models from the house of Honda are also likely to witness a jump in prices. The Honda CR-V is chosen first by the company to hike the price because the car is imported to India as a completely built unit (CBU). The company is aware of the fact that it will saddle the customers, but if the prices are not increased, Honda cars will see a major loss in business. Being an icon for style and performance, the dazzling SUV is sold in 160 countries with more than 2.5 million accumulated sales units. It shares a good number in the sales figure of Honda cars in India. Now with the price hike, the car may experience a cold market but it can only be substantiate after the price is actually raised in practicality. Labels: Car-prices, Honda-Cars, Honda-CR-V

All those who are planning to buy the Honda Civic Hybrid will have to experience a longer waiting period as Honda has decided to hide the car beyond showrooms. It may sound shocking to many but this is the fact that the car will now be available only as a direct import through the company. Now customers have to place an order directly to the company if they desire to buy the car and have to wait for 3-4 months to actually drive home the Honda Civic Hybrid. Honda Civic Hybrid being India's first hybrid car has created a big bang in the industry at the time of its launch in June 2008. The car runs on both petrol and battery giving a fuel economy of 21 km/L. Though the car gets the fame and attention for being first of its kind in the Indian car industry it fails to achieve good sales until an amazing discount of Rs 8 Lakh was announced. The reason behind this is the attached heavy price tag of Rs 21.5 Lakh with the car including a 104% import duty. Moreover, it did not receive any government’s support. Very few people around the country were eager to pay such a high price and out of 300 cars only 65 were sold off in five months. But after the car price was slashed, the remaining pilled stock was cleared in just 10 days reflecting the actual cause of its unsuccessful ride on the Indian roads. Experiencing all these Honda has now decided to stop retailing its hybrid car through its dealerships. Well, this may depress few of the prospective Civic Hybrid buyers but not much as they can still own the car with a few days of waiting period. Labels: Honda-Cars, Honda-Civic-Hybrid, Hybrid-Cars

Hold your breath Honda car lovers. Honda cars will now be available at an expensive price tag. The company has decided to increase the price of its entire portfolio of cars by Rs 1 Lakh to Rs 1.5 Lakh from January next year. This is depressing for those who are planning to buy Honda cars and obviously relaxing for those who have already purchased one and are rejoicing the elegant ride. But, if anyone of you is actually keen and sure to buy any of the Honda cars then you still have time to buy with the actual price tag. As the company has decided to implement the raised prices with the oncoming New Year, you can make up your mind to stamp upon a confirmed decision to buy a Honda car. Many of you must be thinking that during this time of financial downturn, Honda is actually doing injustice to car consumers by increasing the car prices. But it’s not their fault as well. The production cost with the increasing cost of raw materials has increased so much that the car manufacturers is forced to take such an initiative. The weakening of Indian Rupees has further fueled the senses of Honda. This eventually compels the company to increase the price tag of all its car models. The price of Honda’s leading SUV, Honda CR-V is expected to increase by Rs 1.5 Lakh, luxury sedan Accord would go up by Rs 30,000 – Rs 50,000 and the most successful car in Honda’s fleet, Honda Civic, would have an elevated price tag of Rs 10,000 – Rs 20,000. So, now it is the right time for you to make a decision to purchase a Honda car. Labels: Car-Manufacturer, Car-prices, Honda-Cars

Green car lovers were overjoyed and excited with the special discount of Rs 8 Lakh on Honda’s green car, Honda Civic Hybrid. This excitement and joy now comes to an end. After making remarkable entry in the sales figure of the Hybrid in one day, the company has closed down the offer. After the announcement of the discounted price tag of Civic Hybrid, the company had received an overwhelming response with nearly about 1100 enquiries in just four days and astonishingly all the cars planned for the special scheme were allocated against confirmed bookings. Company is still in process of giving the deliveries of booked cars. This winning hybrid car is imported as a completely built unit from Japan and now after importing such a huge number, there are no expectations of fresh arrivals till March 2009. So, the company had to close down the special offer scheme on India’s lone hybrid car. Labels: Honda-Cars, Hybrid-Car

The count 98 in one day is commendable! It’s incredible to believe that Honda has sold off 98 cars in just one day. This awesome sales figure was recorded after the company has slashed down the price of its Civic Hybrid by Rs 8 Lakh. This high sales number is obviously attributed to the sharpest and steepest decline in price tag of any car in the history of Indian car industry. A discount of nearly 40% in the price of the hybrid has lured many waning car customers. The demand has increased so much that Honda is struggling to keep the delivery in pace with the customer’s demand. It’s more exciting to know that the number sold in one day is much higher than that sold in the entire span of six months since the car was launched in June 2008. Honda still aims to sell 100 more cars and now let’s see how much hybrids ply on Indian roads. Labels: Car-Sales, Honda-Cars, Indian-car-industry

The Honda Civic Hybrid now wants to spread Green all around! Not only the environment-friendly “reduce emissions” kind, but also the kind that makes a miser smile. Honda gives its Civic Hybrid an 8 Lakh price cut, which is said to be one of the steepest in the history of the Indian car market. This offer is effective immediately and is said to be valid till the end of the year. Talk about saving GREEN! The cut will be between the Rs 8.14 to 8.17 Lakh range bringing the ex-showroom price of the Hybrid down to approximately Rs 13.25 Lakh in some cities – close to the price of its much more successful Civic petrol sibling. This is the first for Honda in terms of marketing strategy practiced in India. However, this strategy is not uncommon for other Indian car manufacturers. To try and bring Hybrid sales of 63 cars in 6 months up to par to match the 5000 cars in 6 months Civic Petrol sales is a big dream to have and will be an even bigger accomplishment if successful. Well, this may not be the last drastic step Indians see car manufacturers take if the world economy continues to disintegrate in the near future. Honda Seil India, rejoices the high sales of its hybrid car. It’s astonishing to know that Honda Civic Hybrid is making a big bang during the time of inflation. But that’s a fact that since the time Honda Civic Hybrid made its debut in the country, it has sold over 50 cars in the domestic car market. This means that in a span of three months, the car has reached unexpected heights. Most of the hybrid car customers are those who are environment friendly and are willing to maintain the ecological balance. This desire of the customers made them move towards the car but then, all are satisfied, happy and well travelled with their hybrid cars. However, the encouraging sale of the most expensive sedan has given Honda a strong reason to smile and maintain its initial upward sales target. Labels: Honda Seil India, Honda-Cars, Hybrid-Car

The car industry today is full of challenges and competition. The only manufacturer who fights the challenges can win the race.
As we all know that Honda was once a supplier to Toyota, but today it has its own identity and credibility in the market. Just go beyond your imaginations and think what Honda has done to overpower Toyota. It’s nothing more than the power of hopes, desires and dreams. It’s truly been said that the best way to achieve success is to dream. If you seriously hold a dream to reach the sky then trust you’ll definitely reach there. That’s the only policy Honda accepted and see where they are today. Honda has always been uniform in their unique strategies and production capabilities. The company is capable to manufacture a car model from any segments and categories like SUVs, luxury segment, small cars, sedans and even a range of fuel efficient cars. Maintaining its consistency, Honda is still able to meet the changing consumer demands. Whereas Toyota India is facing mass attrition of their top professionals, many of them have joined its rival. Glance at the Indian car market today. It is predominated with fuel efficient and high performance cars like Civic, CR V, Accord and City. With the increasing demand of Honda cars in the market, the company will definitely take over Toyota in no time with a winning excitement. Labels: Honda-Cars, Toyota-Motors

Cheers! Finally, the long waited Honda Civic Hybrid has launched in India. The ex-showroom (Delhi) price of the car is announced to be 21.5 lakh. Even though the price is almost double of the original Honda Civic, the company has a strong belief that this car will win success for them in the long run. Isn’t’ the price worth the money? Getting a longer life, durability and reliability is worth the announced cost price. The car is equipped with a 1.3 litre engine and is expected to deliver almost 50% enhanced fuel efficiency than the 1.8 litre engine of the old Honda Civic. Car Lovers, wake up! Forget the price, forget the fuel. Go and grab the Honda Civic Hybrid! Labels: Honda-Cars, Honda-Civic-Hybrid

Honda Motors has launched its first hybrid car in India. This launch was inspired by the increasing environmental pollution. Honda did not accept diesel for its line up models but have accepted the advanced green technology. The company has spent a large sum of money on this innovative technology but is the expenditure a worth? Will Honda get the returns? Will Indian buyers go for hybrids? These questions are swaying in and out of people’s minds because ours is a developing country and commercially India is not yet prepared for such high-technology cars. Running the car on electricity means more power for charging but do we have continuous supply of electricity in the cities. Do we have smooth roads to run the car? Do we have charging facilities at petrol stations? Do we have enough spare parts for these hybrids? Is government ready to relief tax on such cars? The answer to all is No. Apart from that, the car price is also a concern. With a cost price of Rs 21.5 lakh, only affluent class can afford to buy this car but unfortunately these people are more attracted to class, status and elegance. Nobody can compare the elegance of BMW with Honda Civic sedan, a completely different connotation. The cost price has outraged the advantage of green. It will take time for all Indians to wear a green conscience. Labels: Honda-Cars, Hybrid-Cars

After months of speculations and long waiting period, finally the much hyped hybrid car from Honda will be hitting the roads. Honda has declared the date of launch. Incidentally, the launch day of the hybrid will coincide with Honda’s 10th anniversary in India. The Japanese company through its Indian subsidiary Honda Seil Cars India (HSCI) has made Honda a premium name in car segment. As Honda had a successful stint with several models like City, Civic, 8th generation Accord and CR-V, the company is now preparing to launch Civic Hybrid. The car will add an eco-friendly quotient to its brand. The Hybrid will be imported from Japan for Indian consumer. Initially, the company only plans to sell only few hundred vehicles in India. The Civic Hybrid is making its debut in India on June 18 at a glittering function in Delhi.
