Honda Accord with Sun roofHonda has launched its new Accord with 3.5-litre V6 engine and the most ‘electrifying’ feature, among others, is the electric sunroof. This premium sedan from Honda had it all in its previous versions and now, on customers’ demand, it has included one more feature of attraction. Talk about customer care!

Adding to the luxurious feel of the new Accord are Ambient Light and Footlight that will enable the passengers to see through the controls without any confusion. The new Honda Accord has also got two keyless remote entry systems that will further enhance the convenience quotient of the car. Honda Accord 3.5L V6 has got some technological advances too. It will now feature a Bluetooth interface for mobile phone connectivity.

Honda Accord is powered by a 3.5L V6 i-VTEC engine which can generate 271 bhp and 339 Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful in the history of all Accords ever built and provides a driving experience that is on par with luxury vehicles from higher segments.

The VCM system, featured in the V6 3.5 litre Accord, gives it an edge because of its unique combination of fuel efficiency and maximum power. The Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system can switch between six-, four- and three-cylinder combustion depending on the driving conditions and delivering maximum power while still maintaining economical fuel consumption. The Active Noise Control system has been designed to provide high levels quietness and smoothness while cruising on all six cylinders.

Honda Accord 3.5L is available in four different colours including Tafeta White, Bold Beige Metallic, Crystal Pearl Black and Alabaster Silver.

The complete Accord range will be available at the price of (Ex-showroom Delhi) Rs. 18.5 lakh for 2.4 litre MT, Rs.19.3 lakh for 2.4 litre AT and Rs 26.15 lakh for 3.5 litre V6.

Honda's
Guess what? The concept of the small car “new small” which Honda had displayed in the Auto Expo 2010 is scheduled to be launched in 2011. If this is news that you think you already knew, check this out.

The small car of Honda’s will have around 80 per cent of its components made in India. Now that’s a news that we bet you might not have heard of right? Honda also expects that the small car that it will produce in India, sell as many as units as its best seller ‘City’ does.

"Our new small car, to be launched in 2011, will have a rate of around 80 per cent in localisation of components," Honda Siel Cars India Director (Marketing) Tatsuya Natsume told reporters during the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi.

The small car from Honda will be rolled out from the company’s plant in Greater Noida and Honda will take all measures to meet the demands of the customers as soon as the car is launched.

Honda also is looking to increase the use of local components of its existing models in India to around the same percentage. While its City and Jazz cars have around 75 per cent localisation of components, the Civic has 71 per cent and the Accord 28 per cent.

Jaguar XFThe first-ever Women’s World Car of the Year awards have been announced from London. The supreme winner, the car that received the greatest number of votes, was the Jaguar XF. Jaguar XF edged out Audi A6 to win the coveted position.

That a luxury car has won the supreme award in the Women’s World Car of the Year is an unexpected result given the ubiquitous ‘shopping basket’ is what many in the car industry consider to be a ‘woman’s’ car. But judges clearly considered the Jaguar XF to be well-constructed, competent, comfortable, a combination of sport and luxury and ideal for women. Judges are women motoring and published writers from around the world.

Volvo XC60 won the Women’s World Family Car of the Year while Honda Accord was awarded as a close runner up in the category. Audi TTS outshined the Mazda MX-5 to win Women’s World Sports Car of the Year award. Volkswagen Golf diesel beat the Ford Fiesta to win the Women’s World Economy Car of the Year award.

The awards were conceived in November last year and stemmed largely from the fact the USA-based World Car of the Year judging panel did not have a single woman judge in 2007. Indeed, the majority of car awards around the world are decided by a vast majority of men yet statistically women will make the final decision in all car purchases in as much as 85% of all sales.

Judging criteria represented the known ‘shopping list’ of women car buyers. This included storage spaces, dashboard friendliness, child friendliness, aesthetic appeal and driveability. There wasn’t the strict requirement to ascertain 0-100 in so many seconds or the Newton metres of torque (horsepower) but judges did, nonetheless, decide how well the car drove. The car’s ‘sex appeal’ was also considered.

Since model specification can differ between countries the decision was made for judges to also consider the overall model range in their voting, rather than one specific model. Cars that qualified had to be sold in at least 10-countries world-wide and available to the marketplace from between September 2008 and September 2009. A shortlist of 21 cars was decided early this year.

Judging was by secret ballot and votes were audited by international accountancy practice, Grant Thornton, from their Auckland, New Zealand, offices. As the voting forms were received it soon became evident that factors such as sex appeal and carbon footprint were assessed more critically and were awarded relatively low scores compared to some other categories.

It is also interesting to note that driveability and comfort rated the highest scores overall.

The judging panel comprised of women auto journalists like that of Caroline Carver from United Kingdom, Regina Chan and Jil McIntosh of Canada, Helene Griffiths of South Africa, LouAnn Hammond of USA, Renuka Kirpalani of India, Sandy Myhre of New Zealand and Liz Swanton of Australia.

This would be the apt time to write on what one should expect from the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show or at least mention a few models that is all set to be unveiled in the show. Mentioning about the cars that will be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show, there are a few of them that gushed into my memory.

Nissan will be launching two electric car models at the Tokyo Motor show. One is the much hyped EV, the Leaf, and the other, a concept car from Nissan, the Land Glider concept. The Nissan Leaf is available in a 24kWh of laminated compact lithium-ion batteries. It delivers a power of 90 kW of power and its electric motor delivers 80kW/280Nm. The Land Glider will be powered by a lithium-ion batteries and it is made of ultra light weight materials. The 1+1 seating arrangement of the car makes it slender enough to easily commute through any traffic situations.

The Deca Deca concept car from the Daihatsu stable will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show along some five other models from the manufacturer. The Deca Deca concept is a multi-functional super box that can be customized in whichever way needed to hold a huge range of activities. The flat floor and pillar less, side-by-side doors make it easy to load and unload and there are also the fold away seats that can be rearranged as per the requirement.

The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour is also worth a mention. It has a remarkable Whitebread efficiency. And as always, the car will feature roomy interiors, which is apt to meet any of your travelling needs. The Crosstour is supported by a modified version of the Honda Accord chassis. The car will be powered by a 3.5-litre i-VTEC V6 engine.

The Motor Shows are truly the best way a car manufacturer can boast of his efforts in the past, pride of today and promise for tomorrow!

New Honda CR-V Cars in IndiaThis year the budget has not smiled all that much on the Indian car industry as excise duty reduction has been provided only on high-end cars and SUVs. In order to pass on the benefits of this to the customers, every car manufacturer is disclosing the amount of discounts.

Initially, at the time of announcement of the excise duty cut, most car manufacturers announced that they will be reducing prices but Honda appeared reluctant as they believed that the pressure of depreciation of the rupee is high and it would be difficult to reduce prices. But soon it was realized that by not reducing prices, sales could be affected drastically as almost all other car manufacturers planned to go ahead with slashing prices.

Honda Accord prices and Honda CR-V prices have dropped by Rs 5000. Though, it isn’t a substantial reduction in price, it still counts as a discount. As Honda has plans to increase the prices of its models in the coming days, this would probably be a good time to purchase one.

As per the revised pricing, Honda Accord 2.4 Automatic now costs Rs 18,42,000 against the previous Rs 18,47,000. The Manual transmission variant - Honda Accord 2.4 MT - stands at Rs 17,67,000.

Honda Accord 3.5 V6 now costs Rs 24,75,000, Honda CR-V Manual Transmission is at Rs 22,87,000, and CR-V Automatic is priced at Rs 23,57,000. All mentioned prices are Ex-Showroom New Delhi.

New Honda Accord Cars in India

If you are an ardent lover of Honda Cars then it’s time for you to save your pockets. Honda is soon going to raise the prices of its entire range of cars in India by Rs 30,000 to 3,54,000.

Though it’s tough to accept the price hike at this stage as recessionary pressure is not completely relieved. But the manufacturers have no other options left with them. In the past 8 months Indian rupee has depreciated by over 16% and the Japanese Yen has strengthened by 10.5%. Currency fluctuations have driven Honda to increase car prices. And this is mainly because it has tremendously increased the cost of import. For some time the manufacturer did absorbed the impact but how long?

No car manufacturer can carry on absorbing the impact of high input cost as well as high import cost anymore. And so is Honda.

Honda CR-V is an imported car model whose price has been increased by Rs 3, 54,000. The prices of Honda City has been increased in the range of Rs 30, 000 to Rs 35, 000 and Civic has been raised by Rs 50, 000 to Rs 60, 000. Even the Honda Accord will now be costlier by Rs 1, 00, 000. The price of CR-V, Civic and City will be effective from April 1, 2009 whereas Honda Accord will bear the revised price tag from March 16, 2009.

Good news for Accord lovers! New Honda Accord with a 3.5-litre V6 engine is on its way and is expected to be introduced in the Indian car market next week. The new engine will churn out an awesome power of 279 bhp that will mark new milestone in the successful history of the Accord. The new car is likely to carry a price tag of around Rs 25 Lakh.

The present generation of the Accord is a complete blend of style, comfort, and elegance. The aggressive looks and striking presence makes the car one of the most commanding sedans on Indian roads. And above all what makes the car a hot choice amongst car buyers is the revolutionary 2.4-litre i-VTEC engine that generates 179 bhp.

It’s clear that if a power of 179 bhp has made the Accord a success then the engine delivering a power of 279 bhp will definitely set new benchmarks in its segment.

Possibilities are there that the manufacturer may not make modifications in the exterior and the interior as the car already has impeccable and eye-catching structure, style, and beauty. Just a replacement of the engine with a more powerful technology is enough to ignite new excitement in the market.
