Think of unique and original electric automobiles. Think of CITROEN. Yes, the innovative car makers have now come with Survolt. The all-new Survolt is the 3.85m long, 1.87m wide and 1.20m high revolutionary car from CITROEN. Innovation is there in CITROEN’s genes and it has been shown yet again in the Survolt. The car with its chic, sporty and neat looks has disobeyed all existing rules.
Let me describe the car a little. It has a large oval grille and just above this is the unique vehicle badge which makes the Survolt look graceful. The headlamps are horizontal and are capable of pulling just anybody towards it; it will attract you like a magnet. Be a little careful! Then there’s the LED light signature that gives the vehicle the high-tech touch. The car can easily swallow any distance as the wheels smoothly grace the road. The vigorous wheels promise performance and the sculpted edges are simply amazing. The glamorous Survolt is highly charged and has a strong bonnet.
The Survolt’s flowing design can get anyone excited. The rear shows off the stylish light signature of Revolte together with a spoiler in an essential reference to motor sport. The Survolt is a perfect example of a power-and-performance package wrapped in a cover of shyness. Take it to the motor sport pitch and the true colors will come out. It creates its own stylish language at the stadium and proves itself to be the best. Two-tone paint and curves shifting from satin-smooth to shiny, breaking definitively with the characteristic masculine codes of the sports world are classic features of the Survolt. It maintains just the right balance between high fashion and serious car racing. The car, more or less, exhibits the same performance, cutting-edge technology and excellence of the Revolte. The Revolte is the concept car that was unveiled last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Coming to the cockpit of the Survolt, it again wants to prove its presence in both the fashion and sporting world. Like a piece of jewelry, there is a hint of glass between the sporty chrome-finished roll bars. The cabin is an entire world, both flowing and technical from which the driver’s station springs ahead. This cabin is miraculous letting its two occupants experience ultimate bliss. The CITROEN’s Survolt is a long way ahead of any other sports car.
Green being the talk everywhere, especially at the Geneva motor show, Survolt has not forgotten this. The car is very much aware of the eco-friendly concept. Just like the Revolte, Survolt is powered by electricity. The electric-racing car technology was earlier thought of as impossible and CITROEN has proved everyone wrong. This is a brand completely focusing on innovation, creativity and new technology as well. CITROEN has kept up its word by bringing in new concepts every time for the past 90 years. Now when most of the supercar manufacturers are busy showing off their hybrid concepts at the Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari stepped forward and did what was long overdue.
Ferrari unveiled its new experimental vehicle based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, which is equipped with an advanced new hybrid powertrain. Christened as HY-KERS, the hybrid two-seater uses modified version of Ferrari's Formula One Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) to recover the braking and decelerating energy in a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery.
With an electric motor that assists the 6.0-litre V12, the hybrid KERS system provides instantaneous torque for enhanced performance and efficiency. The HY-KERS also features a dual-clutch transmission, the first time when such a gearbox has been combined to a V12-engine car.
The HY-KERS has been designed in such a way that its handling, chassis dynamics, braking abilities and performance remain unaffected by the added weight and complexity of the hybrid powertrain. While driving in the city, the car’s HY-KERS system can also function as a full-electric drivetrain, which reduces fuel consumption and emissions.
The tri-phase, high-voltage electric motor of the HY-KERS, which weighs about 40KG, is coupled to the car’s dual-clutch seven-speed F1 transmission. When braking, the electric drive unit acts as a generator, using the kinetic energy from the negative torque generated to recharge the batteries.
HY-KERS hybrid maintains the high-performance characteristics typical of all Ferraris while, at the same time, reducing CO2 emissions on the ECE + EUDC combined cycle by 35 per cent.
So here comes a 'green' one from the house of Ferrari which is world famous for its raging 'red' supercars. Never have we witnessed a green car revolution like this before from the supercar manufacturers. Other auto manufacturers who showcased their hybrid concept cars at the Geneva Motor Show are Porsche, Mini, Nissan, and Mercedes-Benz. Legendary Porsche 917 celebrates its 40th anniversary with a big bang. This iconic racing car made its first debut in the Geneva Motor Show on March 13 forty years ago. And you would be amazed to know that just in a span of one month 25 cars were produced and sold out in the market. Since then the car has retained its position as one of the most successful racing cars of all time. The first introduction of Porsche was powered by a 4.5-liter engine that generated an astounding 520 horsepower. It was artistically designed to meet the demands and requirements of different racetracks. The company had also introduced the ‘short-tail model’ that was actually designed to suit the needs of heavily twisting roads that required high contact pressure for fast cornering. On the other end, a ‘long-tail model’ was introduced for fast racetracks.
Then in 1972 Porsche introduced a new variant of the 917 with turbocharged engine that produced an awesome horsepower of 1,000 bhp. As and when new technologies came into existence Porsche continuously made efforts to fit them in its legendary 917 so that the car can be compatible to the changing needs and demands of the industry. You would be glad to know that the Porsche Turbo 911 that we rejoice today is also an advanced version of the iconic 917. The 911 was a result of Porsche’s efforts to transfer the racing technologies that powered 917 to on-road sports cars. Even today the Porsche 917 is tagged as one of the ‘greatest racing car of the automotive history’. It’s been 40 years the car is rejoicing this position and expects to retain the same in years to come. Labels: Geneva motor show, Porsche, Porsche Turbo 911, Porsche Turbo 917, Racing Car

Rolls-Royce’s latest experimental car ‘200EX’ will make its first public appearance at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The new car is an inspiring fusion of refinement, innovative technology, and contemporary style. Experimental car models have always played an integral role in the success of Rolls-Royce. Starting from its first experimental 1EX built in 1919 to the recent 101EX built in 2006, all the cars have offered lucrative opportunities for car enthusiasts to feel and visualize the real-world innovations and so will the alluring and inviting 200EX. Creatively designed by Ian Cameron, the 200EX has a dynamic style with uninterrupted surfaces, finely sculptured horizontal lines, upward-sweeping sill line, and low-cut roof. Adding to the geometrical design precision is the powerful shoulders and sharp flowing from the rear wings to the taillights. The silver satin finish accentuates the dynamic beauty of the car’s exterior. A contemporary interior incorporated with high quality materials infuse the car with intimate ambience and cool atmosphere. The natural lighting, lounge seat, opaque dials and refined instrumentation offers a lasting impression. The controls on the dashboard are sculpted with significant functions highlighted by chrome accents. Adding to the beauty of the classy ambience is the featured wood veneer. Other design elements that impart glamour to the car are elevated prow, long bonnet, short front overhang, sharply raked A-pillar, and elegant tail. The rear-hinged coach doors opens through an angle of 83 degree provide a widest rear access in the car industry as well as easy entry and exit for the occupants. The car is powered by a 500bhp V12 engine and is likely to be mated to the BMW’s twin-turbo technology that is known to effectively reduce the fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission. 200EX with its timeless style and eco-friendly nature retains the core values of Rolls-Royce. With all the modern and unique features, the latest experimental car will definitely be a spotlight of the Geneva Motor Show. Labels: Geneva motor show, New-Car-Launch, Rolls-Royce-Cars

As we mentioned before, the Tata Nano is basking in glory at the Geneva Motor Show and so are its designers. But it’s not just they who are being appreciated. The Indian team of engineers and their Japanese counterparts, who designed the Maruti A-Star concept car, are also receiving praises for their work. While the Nano has been stealing most of the attention, the A-Star has been well received at the motor show and has managed to make a few heads turn towards it.
