There weren't many things happening at the Fiat stage of late. The company has also recently denied the launch of ultra cheap car, which we all expected to host the Indian roads very soon. But with such saddening news the company also combined the promise of the plans of the company to launch small, low cost cars. But it will take some time before the car will be actually available to the Indian car lovers.
Now let us speak of something that will happen in the near future. The much-loved model of Fiat, Linea will now be more powerful. The company will provide the Linea a more powerful petrol engine. Fiat will now establish its T-jet 1.4-litre engine that has a remarkable direct injection and turbo charger.
The T-jet is expected to bring in a new appeal for Linea. It will also help in improving the performance and refinement of the Linea.
It is also expected that the company might also introduce 110bhp 1.6 litre diesel engine for Linea. And it was expected that the company will launch this during the beginning of next year, but it is now said that the company might launch it only towards the end of 2010. Tata Nano is the car that brought in the trend of small ultra cheap cars. In fact Tata gave the courage and encouragement to the car makers in the country to make ultra cheap cars that will lure the buyers. Tata was in the news for a long time and is still in the news connected to the Nano. And we expected many companies to join Tata, launching ultra cheap cars and Fiat was one among them. We were literally celebrating each and every news that came out regarding the launch of ultra cheap cars. And we had our hopes high especially with Fiat, as Fiat has now tied up with Tata. But what you are going to read will certainly pull your expectations down, especially if you were waiting for an ultra cheap from Fiat.
The speculation about Fiat launching a small car was very much alive. But there is no hope left when the company authorities are themselves denying any plans of the company to enter the ultra-cheap car segment.
But we have a relief. The company is still in the process of developing several low cost cars. It is expected that these low cost cars will probably be in the bottom of the B-segment for the Indian market in the coming 3-4 years.
We are not aware of what will be the fuel options available in this proposed car. The engine option of the car is also not known, the company is still in the process of deciding it. This small car is expected to join the Indian small car market in the next few years. Fiat is all set to add a new model to its stable in both petrol and diesel variants on June 17th. The Grande Punto will blend in well with India’s small car favouritism trend. The car, designed by famous car designer Giorgetto Giugario, has been spreading its magic in European markets and is now getting ready to storm India’s small car segment posing a huge challenge to rivals like Skoda Fabia, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Fusion, Hyundai i20, and the upcoming Honda Jazz. Created on the platform of the Fiat Linea, the new car will be seen in three variants - Active, Dynamic, and Emotion. Petrol engine options are 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre whereas diesel engine is a 1.3L multi-jet, same as the one on Linea. There is no confirmation yet about its exact pricing but petrol variants are speculated to fall in the range of Rs. 4.5 Lakh to Rs. 6 Lakh and diesel variants will come with a price tag of Rs. 5.25 Lakh to Rs. 6.5 Lakh. A blend of beauty, solidity, and brilliance along with a very Italian essence makes the Fiat Grande Punto a complete car ready to win millions of hearts. It will be manufactured at Fiat’s Ranjangaon plant near Pune in Maharashtra along with the Linea. Labels: Fiat-Cars, Fiat-Grande-Punto, New-Car-Launch

Fiat wants to give more power to its stylish Linea. It plans to add two new engines - a 1.6-litre multi-jet diesel engine that produces 118 bhp and a 1.6-litre petrol engine that generates 106 bhp. The launch of the car has helped the company to get back its lost glory in India that was faded away into oblivion a few years ago. It experienced a smooth ride in the fast racing Indian car industry grabbing several accolades like ‘Car of the Year’ by UTVi Autocar, ‘Mid-Size Car of the Year’ awarded by both UTVi Autocar and CNBC Overdrive UTVi. It was also selected by TopGear for the Best Mid-size Saloon 2008 award. It has enticed many customers with its elegant design, luxurious interiors, and advanced features that give them a feeling of ownership pride. Many believe that the car is underpowered compared to its rivals. The present 1.4-litre FIRE engine generates 89 bhp which is quite less compared to 116 bhp offered by the Honda City. Eyeing the customers’ response and competition, the company plans to enhance the power of the car. The company also plans to achieve 90 percent localization in production by 2010. This will further help to slash down the price making it more cost effective. Labels: Fiat-Cars, Fiat-Linea, Sedans

A lot is happening in the international car industry nowadays, the results of which could decide the fate of many brands in different countries. After General Motors and Chrysler collapsed following a downturn in the auto industry, Italian car manufacturer Fiat offered a bid to add General Motors and Chrysler to its kitty. If it succeeds, Fiat will take upon Toyota, currently the largest car manufacturer in the world. Fiat was struggling to hold to its business but after 2003 it has made profits in consecutive years. It is almost on the verge of taking over Chrysler and now the Italian company also wants the Opel brand, a European arm of General Motors. This move will help Fiat consolidate its position in the automotive world. The company is leaving no stone unturned to achieve its ambitious plans. Fiat manufactures nearly 7 million units of automobiles annually. It also owns super car brands like the Ferrari and the Maserati. Whenever Fiat succeeds it will prove a major challenge for China, India and other Asian car markets which are reporting a high growth rate. Indian players should prepare for that competition that is sure to infect the Indian car market once Fiat attains its goal. Fiat has been in India since 60 years and currently has a tie-up with Tata Motors for manufacturing, supply, and servicing facilities of its car models. It’s raining awards for the Fiat Linea as it has bagged prestigious titles in different categories. It’s a big achievement for the car which is just launched 3 months back. Amazingly, the mid-size sedan is crowned with the ‘Car of the Year’ award by UTVi Autocar, the ‘Midsize car of the Year’ title by CNBC Overdrive and UTVi Autocar. The car stands out to be an outstanding contender among many other top cars like the New Honda City, Maruti Swift Dzire, Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20, and the Toyota Corolla Altis. The car truly deserves the success with enticing features like majestic sweep of the roof, multi-function steering wheel, two-tone dash with a chrome slash, and 90 PS powerhouse. The eye-catching exterior with contemporary Italian styling, dual parabola headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, aggressive front with modern front grille and clean rear set the car apart from its competitors. Not only in India, the car has also experience a good response in the international markets. It was chosen for the ‘BBC TopGear Best Mid-size Saloon 2008’ award by TopGear. Well, this is the scenario only after a few months of its release, the Linea is sure to add more feathers to its cap in the coming times. Labels: Fiat-Cars, Fiat-Linea, Sedan

The cute and scintillating Fiat 500 has been around in India for a while now and is quite popular for its unique Italian design and styling cues. A more masculine version of the peppy 500 might be out soon as Fiat is considering building an SUV over the same platform. The reason for Fiat’s move is that the 500’s biggest competitor Mini Cooper is also undergoing a similar transformation. The original iconic concept would probably be lost in the process and the more aggressively styled SUV may even fail to win the hearts of car buyers. From what is known, the engine on the new SUV will not be brand new and will be an upgraded version of any of the existing engines on Fiat cars. Labels: Fiat-500, Fiat-Cars

Tata Nano, since its debut has not only captivated masses but also inspired many car manufactures with its distinctive appearance. The world's cheapest car being a unique and first of its kind concept has given speed to the race to introduce fuel efficient, cost effective, and appealing small cars. Many car majors are working on the similar concept. This time the 'ultra-cheap cars' bug has bitten the Fiat. Motivated by its partner, Tata Motors, Fiat is speculated to design a similar car based on Panda/500 platform. Recently, Fiat has rolled out the premium hatchback Fiat 500 in India and now planning to introduce a ultra-cheap car which will be named as ‘Topolino' in the European market. It is said that the ultra-cost car may not be introduced under the Fiat brand. Initially, the new car will carry two cylinder engine later followed by a electric version. The low-cost car will target the Asian, South American and the Eastern European markets. There are rumours that Fiat will roll out its cheap cars in all its markets within a year or two of its launch. Would Tata's Nano and Fiat's new car will be rolled out at the same time? This can be answered only by the car manufacturers. Lets wait and watch the 'ultra low cost' car race! Labels: Fiat-Cars, Tata-Nano, Ultra-cheap-Car

Indian car industry was eyeing the new car launches with hopes and aspirations that the new excitement will enlighten the slow moving market. But all the expectations are shattered as manufacturers are postponing their car launches to combat the economic recession. First in line are Fiat cars, Linea and Punto. Fiat has postponed the launch of Linea to December and even the launch of Punto is pushed to next year. The company fears the poor sentiments of the prevailing car market but is optimistic that the situation will improve. Next in pipeline is the Bravo, a luxury hatchback, that was supposed to be launched early but now the manufacturer refuses to give a final date for the launch. Even the launch of Tata Nano is on a continuous delay. Earlier the launch was delayed because of the Singur issues but this time, the reason may be different. Maybe the company is not willing to capture the market with the present scenario. Even Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have pushed their launches from the festive season to year end. Maruti A-Star was planned for launch in October during the celebrations of Diwali but now it will make its debut in November or early December this year. Hyundai has also announced the commercial launch of i20 in the domestic market by early 2009. So, with delayed car launches, new excitement and thrill have also been pushed back. It’s not just in India, but other car manufacturers across the world are also introducing dual fuel cars to spread awareness of eco-friendly cars. It’s good to know that Fiat has introduced a dual version of Fiat Punto. The new version of the car is functional with dual engines, methane and petrol. It is purely aimed at reducing automotive emissions and cutting down the running cost of the car. Powered by a 1.4L engine, the car can run up to a combined range of 1000 km, covering a distance of 310 km on methane alone. Wait on! unfortunately, the car is not yet introduced to the Indian car market. Infact the launch of Fiat Punto is in pipeline for India. We wonder whether the dual version will be rolled out or not. But it would be good if the methane-petrol Punto is introduced to India as it will bring a new revolution in the Indian car market. Labels: eco-friendly-cars, Fiat-Cars, Indian-car-market

Fiat Palio will now be cheaper and more fuel efficient. Though the company has not reduced or cut down the price tag of Palio, you can buy the car at a much cheaper price. Fiat has cut down the prices of Palio’s spare parts including the ones that are imported. Cheaper spare parts will obviously reduce the cost of production or the input cost, thereby reducing the price tag of the Palio. The reduction of spare parts price is mainly done with a desire to improve the car’s after-sales service. For all those who love the new Palio Stile, this is the best time to buy the car at cheaper price tag. You would be even more impressed with the new service policy offered by the Fiat. The company has now announced to give three free services in the first year of car ownership to ensure customer satisfaction. The new Palio has good fuel efficiency and now coupled with that is the cheaper spare parts and new service policy. This makes the overall cost of ownership even more attractive. Inspite of the falling sales and high inflation, car manufacturers are planning a slew of car launches. This seems to be confusing. At one end, the car manufacturers say that they want to halt their expansion plans and on the other end they are constantly announcing the upcoming launches. Can anyone guess the true picture behind the scene? Whatever the case be, currently the news say that the joint venture between Tata and Fiat is planning to change the overall look of their alliance showrooms which includes – style, signage, interiors and ambience. Fiat plans to give a European red look to its brand whereas Tata Motors will showcase its brand in blue. The companies have also changed the size of their logo as an essential part of their branding and promotion exercise.
With the new makeover, both Fiat and Tata are planning to launch a portfolio of cars in the next couple of months. Fiat plans to launch Linea and Grande Punto before the end of this year, whereas Tata Motors plans a new Indigo and Nano in the same period. Tata has recently launched a new Tata Indica Vista with better features, style and engine technology. Tata-Fiat joint venture is working hard on the marketing and distribution aspect and is hunting out for better and improved measures. Labels: Fiat-Cars, New- Car-Launch, Tata-Motors

Driven by the emerging and promising Indian car market, the Fiat India is working on to revive its expansion plans in India. Fiat has great plans to start car exports to the Asia-Oceanic markets like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and UK. The emphasis is expected to lay on right hand drive markets. The company plans to export cars to the right-hand drive from the Indian production base. Recently, Fiat has launched its legendary Fiat 500 in India and is planning to import its iconic global brands like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Maserati. Later in the fiscal year, the company is also ready to roll out Grande Punto and Linea on Indian roads. With so many cars hitting the Indian roads, it’s difficult to decide the faith of the Indian car industry? All the car manufacturers are expanding their operations in India. The day is not far, when there’ll be no space for pedestrians on Indian roads, infact less space for all the cars to run on. Labels: Car-Manufacturers, Fiat-Cars, Indian-car-market

With a keen desire to strengthen its position in the car market, the Fiat has planned strong strategies to place itself against the big players. Fiat is thinking of exporting cars from India especially to right-hand drive markets like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and UK. The company has recently launched, the Fiat 500, one of the most expensive cars in the small car segment. The brand will be also rolling out latest cars from its stable the Grande Punto by this year end and Linea sedan next year. In future it is possible that Fiat may make India its hub for the production of cars. Known for its performance and technology, the car manufacturer is spreading its wings wide with an aim to compete with the luxury car players. Hope the reviving plans bring fruitful results to the company and further increase its potential in global market. Labels: Expensive-cars, Fiat-Cars, Small-Car

Wake up car lovers! It’s not the time to dream but to open your eyes and visualize your dream into a reality. Yes, the much awaited Fiat 500 has made its debut in India.
Fifty years down the line, Fiat 500 had lost its significance on Indian roads. Today, the car has made a comeback with advanced and innovative features. The car has travelled a long way from 19th century industrialization to 20th century globalization. Remember those old days when Ambassador and Padmini were the only cars on Indian roads. With the entry of new and luxury cars, these cars were pushed out of the way. Fifty years back, Fiat 500 had no alternative than to move back but today the car shows its actual worth. The car drove back and integrated the desires and demands of the current generation in its revamped model to make a comeback. With the revamped version, Fiat offers better performance, effectiveness and fuel efficiency to all its customers. The car has made its debut in India with two trims, Lounge and Sport. Both the variants are equipped with 1.3L multijet engine compliant to Euro 5 emission norms. The car also has 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. The only difference between the two variants is the sporty appearance given to all features of the Sport Fiat 500. For Fiat, all its customers and buyers are unique and important. Fiat also offers a provision of customization to ensure exclusivity for their customers. The car is available in an assortment of unique colours and also has the exclusive in-car communication system, known as the “Blue & Me”. With the launch of Fiat 500, the venture smiles at the future because the company is sure to win the competition and re-establish a strong niche in the Indian car market. Priced at around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), this new car is first to be sold in six cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Pune to lure the super-affluent class.
