And to reinforce its strong will the company has launched a new advanced version of its E-Class sedan in the country. The new E-Class sedan will have a diesel engine.

A slew of cars with diesel engine are on the way to enter the Indian car market. Car makers such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki are planning to introduce diesel engine cars to the domestic market.
There has been a change in the outlook of Indian car buyers. The new generation of car buyers do not think of the high maintenance cost and premium pricing while considering to opt for a diesel engine car. In fact, these are the problems of yesterdays and today with technology getting superior, fuel efficient and more environment-friendly, the new generation of car buyers pick up diesel cars with no headache.
Mercedes-Benz is planning to bring in the new E-Class in diesel, while its arch-rival BMW is all set to roll out diesel models in the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo and Hyundai gearing up to launch a diesel Sonata. Then, we have India’s number one car maker Maruti Suzuki planning to launch diesel variant of the SX4. As a matter of fact, luxury car makers like BMW, Mercedes and Audi sell more diesel variants than their petrol counterparts. The Honda CR-V was ruling the SUV segment till the Toyota Fortuner was launch. The CR-V has a petrol engine while the Fortuner comes with a diesel engine.
Toyota sells more than 99 per cent of diesel variants of its cars. Toyota feels that premium car buyers need higher torque and power and that can be developed much better through advanced diesel technology.
Maruti Suzuki Swift and the DZire are selling 65 per cent diesel variants and others like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, General Motors, Hyundai and Ford are stepping up production of the diesel models. Tata Motors’ Indica and Indigo, Mahindra’s Logan, General Motors Optra, Cruze and Hyundai’s Verna are seeing an increase in diesel model sales in the recent months.
Car makers have begun scaling up the production of diesel variants in recent months. The reason behind is a much advanced diesel technology which is forcing car manufacturers to start looking at alternative solutions. Moreover, premium car buyers travel long distances, so fuel economy plays an important role. With diesel cost being lower than petrol, the payback is quicker. The much awaited diesel variant of Hyundai i20 will be launched in India by the end of next week. This move by Hyundai Motors India to launch the diesel variant of the stylish i20 will win itself more diesel aficionados in India. Hyundai i20 diesel is already being manufactured and sold in the European markets. It was speculated that Hyundai as a part of its plans for India would be launching its diesel variants of i20 after the launch of Fiat Grande Punto and Honda Jazz to study the mood of the people in India. But now with some clever pricing, (we are hoping Hyundai reads this blog) i20 diesel could be a money spinner for Hyundai in the near future. (No Hyundai, we don’t charge on tips that we give.) The new diesel car will be powered by a 1.4 liter, 16 valve CRDi engine and is expected to deliver 89 bhp of power at 4000 rpm. The Hyundai i20 will comes with all essential features like rear wiper, ABS, airbags (surprisingly it has 6 of them!). The best part is that the engine is not noisy unlike other typical diesel engines. Moreover, it will have Variable Geometry Turbo Charger and not a Fixed Geometry Turbo Charger which is found in other diesel cars in the segment. The i20 diesel unlike the petrol variants will have a button in the place of reverse gear next to the 5th gear. This reverse button has to be pushed and the knob has to be slightly moved near the 1st gear to get into the reverse mode. Labels: Diesel-Cars, Hyundai-i20, Hyundai-Motor-India

June seems to be a month dedicated to new car launches. There is a long queue of new cars awaiting launch this month. One model joining this launch line-up is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Diesel which is speculated to launch on 9th of June. The diesel version of Prado will sport a 4.5-litre V8 engine which delivers 282 bhp. The four wheel drive SUV comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Compared to the petrol version of the Prado, the diesel one is expected to show better performance and fuel economy. In terms of interior and exterior design, the Land Cruiser Prado Diesel will not differ much from the already available petrol model. For the Indian market, just like its petrol sibling, the Prado diesel too will be imported as a CBU from Japan with an expensive price tag ranging between Rs. 45,00,000 and Rs. 48,00,000. It will come in to compete with the Audi Q5 (to be launched on 5th June) which shares a similar price tag. Other competitors of the Land Cruiser Prado are Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz M-Class, and Volkswagen Touareg. Labels: Diesel-Cars, New-Car-Launch, SUVs, Toyota-Land-Cruiser-Prado-Diesel

Auto industry in India is gradually moving away from petrol to diesel cars. More and more car manufacturers are now heading to introduce the diesel variants of their existing car models in the country. The reason of this sudden shift to diesel technology is simple. Diesel holds many advantages over petrol and the primary advantages are better fuel efficiency and cheaper cost of running. In the time of high fuel prices petrol is actually sucking every pocket and so many car buyers also prefer to buy diesel cars. And some are even heading towards the purchase of hybrids and alternative fuel cars like LPG and CNG. In the near future there are many car manufacturer who are trying to go the diesel way. This will also offer wider options to car buyers. Some of the diesel cars that are expected to roll out on Indian roads are BMW X6, BMW X3, Ritz Diesel, Maruti Suzuki SX4 Diesel, and Audi Q5. For those who love the Porsche Cayenne, the car manufacturer has introduced a diesel version to for you to rock on. The Cayenne diesel is surprisingly the first diesel car from Porsche that will make its debut to India in limited numbers. The diesel Cayenne was mainly designed and produced for the European market. But then the tremendous response from the Indian car buyers forced the car manufacturer to send the car to India as well. Precision Cars India is the official importer of Porsche cars in India and it always desires to offer the same options to Indian buyers as to other buyers across the world. And now, the Cayenne diesel is set to roll out on Indian roads. But sadly, only 19 enthusiastic diesel car lovers can grab the car as the car is limited for India. If you closely look at the car you won’t find any difference in the appeal if you compare with the petrol version of the car. The only difference will be the heart of the car that will now bear a responsive V6 engine that will generate 240 bhp sufficient to reach a top speed of 214 km/h. The powerful technology along with the Tiptronic S transmission enables the car to accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. And above all the car will also be BS IV compliant with a sophisticated and high-tech exhaust system. To have more joy and excitement on both on-road and off-road journeys Porsche Stability Management and Porsche Traction Management are fitted to the car. And you can also have a sports mode where in you can enjoy the drive with better response and smoothness. Expected to roll out with a price tag of Rs 64,950,000, Porsche Cayenne diesel will be a new and toughest competitor in the diesel segment. It has not been a month of the launch of the all-new Corolla Altis and there are speculations that Toyota is planning to launch a diesel version of the Corolla Altis for the Indian market. The current model comes with 1.8-litre petrol. However, the diesel version if launched is likely to come with a 2.0-litre engine for the European market. Toyota is working earnestly on the engineering changes to use the European Corolla’s diesel to the Altis. Toyota is also considering one more alternative, its smaller 1.4-litre turbo-diesel that powers the Yaris hatchback for the Corolla. However there is no official confirmation of the launch of new diesel Corolla Altis but is expected to hit the Indian roads by mid-2009. Like many other car manufacturers, even Toyota is stepping ahead and is launching the cars that suit the Indian car buyer’s needs. Labels: Diesel-Cars, New-Car-Launch, Toyota-Cars

The trend of automatic cars continues… After the successful launch of Mahindra Scorpio Automatic, Chevrolet also plans to launch its premium soft roader, Captiva, in an automatic version. The introduction of Chevrolet Captiva Automatic is still a speculation but with the latest trend of automatic cars, the launch has higher chances. If launched, it is expected to be launched with a 5-speed automatic gearbox mated with a brilliant 2L engine and an optional CRDI turbodiesel engine. Obviously, it will also be adorned with some extra in-car features to add more to the existing worth of the SUV. Automatic Captiva is sure to appeal self-driving buyers and will definitely be a big hit in the industry. When this speculation will turn to a reality, the Captiva Automatic is sure to compete with the Honda CR-V. Labels: Automatic-Cars, Chevrolet-Cars, Diesel-Cars, SUV
