Volvo Auto India, the Indian arm of the Swedish car maker Volvo, is all set to beat the industry growth even as it adds more products in its line up in India. And Volvo Auto India will do that in style with the early launch of the 2010 Euro V-compliant, twin-turbo, diesel- powered S90 sedan.

Mr. Paud de Voijs, the Managing Director of Volvo Auto India reveals his optimism on the growing Indian luxury car market when he says Volvo India has grown at 16 per cent while the Indian luxury car market comprising of cars priced over Rs 24-25 lakh has grown to the tune of 11 per cent.

Reflecting his sentiments was the premium car maker’s sales charts which showed that Volvo Auto India had sold 900 cars last year and expects to beat the 10 per cent increase it had earlier projected for this year. A container load of the new S80 sedans is on its way to India and should b here around the time of the Delhi Auto Show which will be held in January.

While the new Volvo S80 diesel will be Euro V compliant, faster and more powerful, its pricing is expected to match that of the current model, at Rs 38 lakh ex showroom, Delhi. But the exact pricing will only be declared during its launch early next year.

Well, by what we hear is that the Volvo is not participating in the Delhi Auto show. But while others are busy with Delhi Auto Show, Volvo India will rather focus their resources towards the new car launches which is planned for 2010 and expand their portfolio in India with the proposed launch of Volvo XC60, a crossover or the “small premium utility” vehicle (as the guys in Volvo like to call) which should happen somewhere in the first half of 2010.

The other car from Volvo that is slated for launch in India is the S60 sedan.

It is understandable what would be the thought that would go through your mind when you read this blog. You would be obviously eager to know about the launch of the Suzuki Kizashi in India.

Well Suzuki has announced the U.S. pricing for its popular sedan, Kizashi sedan. The car will be available in store in the United States starting from next month. The Kizashi will have a price tag starting at Rs 9 lakh. And this is a tempting price for a car that would stand against models such as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

The Suzuki Kizashi meets the NHTSA's 2014 safety standards. It will be available in various spec levels, with top-end models being priced at Rs 10.50-11.50 lakh. Standard features of the Kizashi include eight airbags, ABS, dual-zone climate control system, EPS stability control, 9-speaker audio system with steering wheel mounted controls, pushbutton keyless start, and projector beam headlamps.

The sedan will be available in both the versions of all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive. And the latter will have a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Kizashi will also be available in a high-performance GTS model that will have a six-speed manual or performance-tuned CVT with steering wheel paddle shifters. The optional features of the car will include leather upholstery, automatic rain sensing wipers power-adjustable seats, and automatic headlamps and rear proximity sensors.

Maruti Suzuki will display Kizashi at the Auto Expo in Delhi, which will be held in January next year. The Kizashi is expected hit Indian roads India by mid-2010. But in India, it might be 20% more expensive than it is in the U.S.

All of you would be waiting impatiently for the Delhi Auto Expo. And being a major auto event that will be hosted by India very shortly, we are all excited about the auto show. Now, we here are Carazoo.com had already covered the exciting news about how more and more manufacturers are flooding towards the Auto Expo. And the most interesting fact is that the auto makers find the Delhi Auto Expo the most significance and popular one. And that could be the one reason why the auto makers, at least a few of them, declined to continue in the Tokyo Motor show and was keen to join in the Delhi Auto Expo.

Toyota is expected to be showcasing two of its much awaited models, Toyota Avanza and Toyota Prius, Interesting, uh? And we still can’t confirm whether these are the only two models the car manufacturer will be showcasing or will there be new cars announced to be showcased at the Auto Show by the manufacturer, you never know.

Avanza is an MPV from the Toyota stable. It is a five seater and once launched in India, the Japanese auto maker expects it be a bigger hit than its most-popular model Toyota Innova. One reason behind this expectation could be its low price, it is priced lesser than Innova.

The Avanza will be equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Wait, the Show is promising a real car raining season in India.
