Tata IndicruzTata Motors, the largest automaker in India will showcase its Indicruz, a crossover, at the Delhi Auto Expo to be held from Jan 05-11, 2010.

But this crossover, an ambitious project of Tata Motors to tear the competition of the competitors apart will be revealed on the first day of the Expo itself. Indicruz though has taken a long time coming into the actual Indian motoring scene since the idea was originally inceptionalised, the vehicle is nothing short of marvel by itself.

All we know about this car is that, based on a brand new platform with a generous wheelbase of 2750 mm, this crossover is sure to offer terrific interior space and comfort that runs in the genes of all Tata Vehicles. The Indicruz will share the Tata Safari’s 2.2 L Dicor engine, though it will be tuned for efficiency rather than outright performance. Styling also seems to be well-executed by engineers and designers in Tata Motors.

According to industry estimates the price of the Indicruz was likely to be 20 per cent more than Sumo Grande MK II, which carries a price tag of Rs 6.65-7.66 lakh at Mumbai dealerships.

We also hear that the Indicruz which also would be the company’s first multi-purpose vehicle (MUV) would be positioned in the market to compete with Volvo XC90, Honda CRV and Chevrolet Captiva. Indicruz will have features like airbags, cruise control and automatic climate control.

The Diwali gift from Chevrolet stable, Cruze, has been made available in the Indian market from today. Launched just days before Diwali, there isn’t anything to think deep about why the Chevrolet has been launched at this period. And this clearly depicts GM’s deep yearning to maintain a stable position in the Indian car market.

Well, it seems that the effort and thinking has really paid off, and would you be surprised to know that the car has already got a surprising number of 1,100 units being pre-booked. And it really appears to be a matter of surprise as to what would have driven the customers to trust Chevrolet so much as that they would book a car even before they see it thoroughly.

Hope the company can safeguard the belief of the customers and grow up to meet their expectations. Aren’t you keen to know about the car, how it looks and what are the features? The Chevrolet Cruze will be available in two variants and shares its engine with Chevrolet Captiva. The two variants of Cruze, LT and LTZ, will be both powered by a diesel engine.

The Chevrolet Cruze will be available in a 2.0-litre diesel engine and has a 5-speed manual transmission. It is built on the GM's global Delta 2 platform. As always expected, Chevrolet has not launched the petrol variant.

The company had decided to launch the petrol monitoring the acceptance of the model in India. And as the primary response seems to be more than expected, it is expected that the petrol versions will soon be followed. The upcoming hatchback from Chevrolet, Beat, will share its platform with Cruze.

Apart from the spacious and alluring interiors and great styling the car also has airbags and ABS, well-laid instrument cluster, multi-information display unit, rain sensing wipers, funky interiors, and keyless entry and start. And the car also has an attractive fuel efficiency of 18.3 kilometres per litre.

The car is aggressively priced between Rs 10.99 and Rs 12.45 (Ex-showroom Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to re-launch its high end Grand Vitara SUV with a new powerful engine.

The new Grand Vitara will feature a 2.4 litre engine and will be called the GV 2.4 in India. It is expected to hit the markets next month. Currently the Grand Vitara is fitted with the 120 bhp, 2.0 litre inline-4 cylinder engine. The details of the power output are not yet revealed.

The sales of the 5-seater SUV has been on a downward swing ever since the economic slowdown started in 2008. Despite the SUV market size being 25,000 units per annum, sales of Grand Vitara has been less than satisfactory.

Almost all of Maruti Suzuki’s small cars are doing well in the Indian car market. It has eight small cars, one MPV, a mid-size sedan SX4, and two SUVs Gypsy and Grand Vitara. The pricing of the new Grand Vitara has not been revealed although the previous model carried a price tag of Rs 13.80 lakh.

Despite its decent performance, the SUV has not matched up with record sales like its smaller siblings. By re-launching the SUV, the manufacture wants to highlight that the car stills exists.

Auto analysts are skeptical about the sales of the re-launched SUV and keeping their guesses close to their heart. Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara has been rivaled by Chevrolet Captiva, and Hyundai Tucson. These SUV’s are doing extremely well in the Indian car market.

General Motors, a leading car manufacturer, will soon start with a facebook community. The attempt is made with respect to a new marketing strategy.

The decision was driven by the increasing use of online media and social communities where a huge mass of people discuss and exchange their personal views. Now, the company will start its own community aimed at online marketing and promotional activities. This plan will be ruled by a dedicated team of expertise with good technical as well as internet knowledge.

It is believed that the digital medium has the best ROI (Return on Investment) for car manufacturers and GM wants to share a huge piece of the successful online channels. ROI marketing is the best way to understand how to spend wisely on marketing and get highest return on the marketing investment.

The company has already tried this kind of marketing for its Chevrolet Captiva which eventually gave a good number of sales.
