You might laugh out loud when you read this blog first or you might just nod your head in approval. But what has been written is no fancy and not stemmed from imagination. It is the fact, the bare fact that was revealed in a study that was conducted recently. People who drive enjoying to the songs of Eminem, Dizzee Rascal, or Jay Z (All Rapsters) are more prone to accidents. And now those crazy fans of rap need to be really careful while driving listening to music. The aggressive toned lyrics of your favourite number sung by the rap artiste you idolize could cost you your own life. In a survey conducted by a leading auto magazine in which over 2,000 drivers took part, about half of the volunteers readily admitted that while driving, the rap or hip hop music affects them adversely rather than soothing them or calming them down. The ratio of drivers who admitted that rap music has a bad effect on them is one is to five. But there are others who feel really calmed down listening to the rap while driving. And this conflicting opinion is brought out in a report by a top newspaper. But the numbers are really low. Only six per cent feels so. You better be cautious before playing those hip hop music loud while driving as the music is capable of vibrating not only the car but also the surround area. The music might enchant you and just take you to another world, detached from the state of reality you might end up meeting with a car accident. And more than the elderly drivers, it is the young males who will be listening to rap and this is double-trouble as they will be least bothered about the traffic rules. Don’t think it is only the rap music which is devastating, it could be any music. So the moral of the story is listening to music while driving is no harm, but forgetting that you are driving will invite danger. Labels: Car-Accidents-In-India, Rap-Music

Many times drivers try to escape traffic police breaking the road rules and regulations. But now there is no chance to escape as a new advanced system is designed to record traffic offenders and take necessary actions against them. The new traffic control system is known as “Trafficop”. Designed by the Pune University of Science and Technology, the introduction of the new system is a concrete step taken for reducing traffic violations that in turn will also reduce car accidents and road fatalities. The advanced traffic system will be fixed in the next three months in Pune and in other cities it may still take some time to come. To have a better control on traffic, police officers will be given a Blackberry mobile phone that will be connected to the main server of the Trafficop. The system will record all the traffic information and vehicle details of the offender. If in case there is any violation, the police officer will just have to feed in the details of the vehicle recorded by the system and the Blackberry phone will give them the complete details of the vehicle owner. All the Blackberry phones with the police officers will be able to have an instant access to the centralized database of the vehicles and vehicle owners available with the RTO (Regional Traffic Office). Using GPRS technology, police officer will also be able to generate a receipt, gauge the amount of compounding fees, and even report the RTO if in case the police suspend the driving license of any offender. So, it’s is the time for everyone to cautiously follow the traffic rules and regulations. With the introduction of this system, it will be impossible to escape or neglect the traffic rules. Respect road rules and follow them to have a hassle free and pleasurable drive. Labels: Car-Accidents-In-India, GPRS

Car giant Volvo is all set to introduce the first ever crash-proof car. Sounds really interesting! Scheduled to make its debut in the Detroit Motors Show in January 2010, this car will be first of its kind in the global car market. The car is supposed to be built with a radar and a sophisticated cruise control system that would control the distance between the corresponding car and other vehicles. The intelligent car will alert the driver by monitoring drowsiness or distraction. It will avoid imminent collision by auto-braking in situations the driver fails to react in the case of an accident. The system is designed to automatically monitor the car's speed and detect any oncoming obstacle ahead on the way. This is something incredible to believe but the pace at which technologies are advancing, something like this can be possible. The best part of this new technology is that it would drastically reduce the rate of road fatalities that is about 100,000 per annum in India. And even more across the Indian boundaries. The technology would be first seen in the Volvo S60. With this, car owners can have a relaxed and pleasurable drive with a strong belief that no one in the Volvo car can be inured or killed. Do you think there is a need to count your stars? Does everyone believe in astrology and star signs? May be may be not! It is shocking but exciting to know that car insurance companies in some foreign countries offer some special premiums based on star signs. We can't really say how far it is true but of course an interesting concept. In India, it will be of great relevance as it is believed to be a spiritual country. But then, definitely the mix of sentiments and opinions is always there. These signs also depict the driving skills and habits of car drivers. Atleast this is something that many of us do believe. When you talk about air signs like Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini, they always fly in air with their cars and are believed to be rash drivers. If you are born under a water sign comprising Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, then you are patient drivers and enjoy driving at a comparatively slower speed. Those born under fire signs comprising Aries, Sagittarius, and Leo, are believed to be the actual speed demons. It is exciting to know all this but then how far it is on papers, is still a debate! The recent news in the car industry is the ban of car entertainment systems in Mumbai. Since past many years, traffic police of almost all Indian cities have banned the use of mobile. The key reason was the increasing incidences of car accidents due to distraction and reduced concentration caused due to mobile chattering behind the wheel. Now, the traffic cops in Mumbai feel that even music creates distraction while driving. The Mumbai police have now decided to fine the car driver found listening to music. The first fine would be Rs 1000 and for the subsequent offense, the police would charge Rs 200. They feel that the in-car entertainment system is one of the major factors contributing to road accidents. This is a great setback not only for the car owners but also for the car audio-visual industry. People drive with music on to soothe their nerves in the traffic crazed roads. But now what? What will happen to already installed music systems in cars? How will car audio manufacturers react to this ban? What will traffic police ban next?
