New Chevrolet Cruze Cars In IndiaGeneral Motors India has launched the Automatic Transmission version of its latest luxury sedan, Chevrolet Cruze. Chevrolet Cruze AT features a 6-speed tiptonic automatic Transmission unit.

When the manual version of the Chevrolet Cruze was launched in October 2009, expectations were high, and it gave us a ten-on-ten. It redefined the D-segment with its well-designed proportions, luxurious interiors and class leading features.

The recently launched automatic version of Chevrolet Cruze with the 6-speed tiptonic automatic Transmission unit will be offered on the LTZ variant. Again GM India has kept in mind the needs of the customer and upped its quotient with a slew of features such as PEPS, Push Button Start, Cruise Control, Smart Screen and Electric Sunroof among others.

The 6-speed automatic in the Chevy Cruze offers a very sporty drive for its customers.
That’s not all; it includes clutch-to-clutch shift operation for high precision and smooth shifting between the gears. The wide spread ratio with the first gear ensures a brisk acceleration from the top while the sixth gear has an overdrive ratio that maintains the engine revolutions as low as possible for highway cruising and optimum fuel economy. The other feature that is a major advantage of the automatic Cruze is that it used premium fluids in the transmission that does not need replacement during normal use.

In addition to the exciting six colors already on offer, the automatic version of Cruze will be available in a special 3 coat paint called White Diamond.

So people who found the heavy manual transmission of Cruze a little cumbersome to handle can now run to the showrooms and lay their hands on the more efficient and easy to handle automatic one.

Chevrolet already has a fan following of its own. And after the Cruze was launched, people only became more in love with the brand. Since its launch last year, Chevy Cruze has been receiving rave reviews and auto journalists who have test driven it have rated it as the best so far in its segment.

The Cruze AT is priced at Rs 13.45 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi).

2011 Nissan PatrolThe image you see here is of the all new 2011 Nissan Patrol which was unveiled recently and is bound for the Middle-East to begin with. It clearly shows the shift of the design directions of the Japanese manufacturer, Nissan. The Nissan Patrol name is synonymous with ruggedness and is considered a legendary off-roader capable of going anywhere, anytime.

Under the banner of “The Hero Comes Home” the Patrol is back as an all-new seventh generation model built on a new platform, showing a radical new design, an enhanced interior comfort and luxury, new V8 engines, a 7-speed automatic transmission and a new 4WD system. According to its design director, the new Patrol is not as edgy and hardcore as its predecessor, it shows softer surfaces that add a sense of modernity to the design equation but still maintaining a ruggedness and commanding road presence.

The interior of the car features now some generous amounts of leather, polished aluminum and wood grain paneling. Nissan decided that customers need a better higher quality interior for the whole family because the car is driven off-road only 15 of the time. The new Patrol offers now over 100mm more legroom for second row passengers and a roomier third row of seats as well.

According to Nissan, the new SUV is now the most powerful vehicle in its class. Why is that? Because the newly developed ‘VK56VD’ 5.6-litre V8 engine with VVEL (variable valve event and lift) and DIG (direct injection gasoline) technologies delivers an impressive 400 hp and 550 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to the new 7-speed automatic transmission with a wider range of gear ratios than its predecessor which gives the off-roader the ability to deliver power faster.

The new Partol also employs a Hydraulic Body Motion Control System (HBMC), which keeps the car flatter with less body roll during lane-changing and cornering, while delivering a comfortable ride in city driving and superb stability on rugged and sandy tracks. The new suspension system, employs now 4-wheel independent suspension and is being upgraded from the previous rigid axle setup.

The newly developed ALL MODE 4×4 system incorporating a variable 4×4 mode package and it allows the driver to switch between four drive modes: sand, on-road, snow and rock, with the flick of a switch. Also, the car features a new Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control which can also be selected easily with the touch of a button. The new model employs a revised Tyre Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) with tyre inflation indicator which beeps the horn softly to inform drivers that a suitable tyre pressure has been reached. The car also offers a new braking system thanks to its new hydraulic brake booster and a 4-piston opposed front caliper setup with larger 358mm front discs.
2011 Nissan Patrol
Well, the all-new 2011 Nissan Patrol seems to be a true contender and competitor for the Toyota Land Cruiser. As mentioned earlier, the Patrol to begin with is just offered in the Middle-East where the rich oil-sheiks can have their part of the fun dune-bashing with this hulk and let’s just hope that Nissan also sees a lucrative market for its Patrol here in India so that Nissan brings it in here for us to write more on this beast in detail.

The Patience is worth the wait. One would not crib for a Honda Jazz automatic anymore. Honda has brought an end to this by announcing a new automatic variant of Jazz. Well, there is still a long time to go before the company will actually launch it, till then we will just ponder on the thoughts of the new car. But, if you think to buy a Jazz and you will wait for the automatic version to get launched.

Then, you can very much do that, but only if you have the patience and profound admiration for the model. After all you could be one such customer, who can go to such an extent to own a Jazz. And no one would laugh at you for doing so as Jazz is one among the cars that rocked the Indian roads.

The new Jazz is expected to get launched only in 2010. And as we do not have a specific date to mention we would like to put it as, sometime next year. It is also expected that the car will not have any other new features except for the automatic transmission.

The Honda Jazz is priced at the higher end that ranges between Rs. 6.98 and Rs.7.33. And the new automatic version of the car might cost you extra thousands. This is a presumption, as the price has not been announced officially. Currently, the Jazz is available in three variants such as Base, Mode and Active.

This is for sure superior thinking from Honda. And the company will benefit the sales of the Jazz. Jazz will now join the legion of Honda’s automatic cars in India, the other AT cars from Honda being CR-V, Civic, City, and Accord.

It has been noted that Indian car buyers are showing a preference for cars with automatic transmission. Lately, the automatic variants of cars have risen up the sales charts. Most of the cars launched over the past one and a half year come with five to six speed gear box. These cars show a good fuel efficiency, superior pick up and outstanding performance.

The Hyundai i10 is one of the top-selling cars with automatic gear box. The car is selling over 1,600 automatic transmission variants per month, which is much more than the company's initial estimates. As a result, Hyundai Motors India has introduced an automatic transmission variant in its Verna sedan. In the same way, the Chevrolet Captiva also came up in the automatic variant with a four-wheel drive because of huge demand.

Cars like the Honda City, Hyundai i20, Mahindra Scorpio Mitsubishi Outlander and many more are available in both manual and automatic transmission in the Indian market. While, a number of cars like the Ford Endeavour and the newly launched Toyota Fortuner are expected to be revised with an automatic transmission in future. These cars in the premium segment are currently selling in the manual transmission variant.

An important reason behind brisk sales of automatic transmission is car buyers put emphasize on driving comfort. Moreover, the ‘stop-go-stop’ nature of traffic in metros has forced Indian car buyers to pick up the auto transmissions. Therefore, car buyers do not mind pitching a bit more for driving comfort, especially when it is spread over EMIs. Another point has been noted that a woman driver opts for high-end features and automatic transmission is one of them.

Honda Siel Cars India has revealed that it sells the automatic transmission variants for most of its models like Civic, Accord, City and CRV. In the past, only 5 per cent of the sales belonged to the old model of Honda City with automatic transmission, but now the sales have risen to 14 per cent in the new model of the City with automatic transmission. Moreover, 51 per cent of the Honda Accord sold in India today is with automatic transmission.

Luxury car makers like BMW sells all its cars in its automatic transmission. This German car maker has found out that the buyers from the creamy layer prefer only the automatic transmission variant as they believe that automatic transmission reduces the risk of wear and tear of the car in the long run even if the cars are drove by chauffeurs.

Mahindra & Mahindra adds an automatic transmission system to its successful SUV, Mahindra Scorpio.

Some car owners who own automatic cars have a belief that a manual gearbox is better and powerful than automatic. But then too, Mahindra loaded an automatic gearbox in Scorpio. Surprisingly, the automatic Scorpio has a better driving dynamic.

The automatic gearbox has two modes to ensure quick and smooth operation even on congested Indian roads. With the automatic gear shift, the SUV gives a fuel economy of about 9 kmpl in city and about 13.2 kmpl on highways.

A great combination of automatic transmission and peppy diesel engine adds joy of driving a new car. The car is available at a price of about Rs 11.3 lakh and is a good bet.

Accept the bet and you are sure to win!
