It so much seems like the Good Times are here to stay. Since the dawn of this New Year we have seen that almost all the car makers in India are reporting good sales of their products which could also mean that this good run of auto sales might be there for the rest of the year as well.

The German luxury car maker Audi has just announced that it has made a great start to 2010 with an impressive 181 percent growth in India for January 2010. Audi India has sold 306 cars this January when compared to a mere 109 units sold last year during January. Audi India has also shown a record sale of 1,659 cars in 2009 which reds out a 58 percent growth for the calendar year 2009.

Audi India posted continuous sales growth all through 2009 and we start the New Year with record sales. In January 2010 our sales more than doubled from last year. We look forward to keeping this momentum through the rest of the year. In keeping with our India strategy, our focus this year will be on network expansion and consolidation. We plan to expand our dealership network to mini-metro cities in addition to introducing new offerings. This reaffirms our commitment of superior performance and great value, to the Indian customer, which is at the core of our philosophy of 'Vorsprung durch Technik’." said Benoit Tiers, managing director, Audi India.

Audi India has already charted out its next growth target for 2010 at 40 percent more than the previous year which means Audi is targeting the sale of 2,300 cars by the end of this financial year. This does not seem like Blue Moon considering Audi India’s performance in the month of January itself.

Audi India’s current portfolio includes the Audi A4, the new Audi A6, the Audi A8, the Audi Q5, the new Audi Q7, the Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8 which are sold in eight showrooms across the country: in Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kochi. Early 2010 will witness the opening of new showrooms in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai (West), Jaipur, Chennai, Ludhiana. Further developments include Lucknow, Coimbatore and Nagpur.

Audi Sportback Concept CarWe had in our earlier blog maintained that Audi was showcasing its Concept car in the ongoing Auto Expo 2010. We now bring you the story in detail.

Audi to commemorate the centenary of the brand, Audi’s display included the heritage Audi Front 225 Roadster, the Audi India product range and the Audi Sportback Concept car. Audi’s stall was inaugurated by Mr. Peter Schwarzenbauer, member of the Board of Management of Audi AG Marketing and Sales, and Benoit Tiers, managing director, Audi India.

Peter Schwarzenbauer maintained that Audi has shown exceptional promise since it began its operations in India. Audi since then has grown from strength to strength in every facet of the business. Audi India will continue to play a pivotal role in the worldwide growth strategy of Audi AG. The Audi Sportback Concept car, which is being displayed in the Auto Expo effectively demonstrates Audi's future design vocabulary. He also promised to bring latest models from Audi to India stating that it was the part of their commitment to the Indian customer.

The Audi Sportback concept car symbolizes the Sportback principle in its purest form in the combination of elegance, sportiness and variability. The two international show cars and the current Audi India product range reflect the past, present and the future glory of Audi AG.

The technology of the Audi Sportback concept is markedly futuristic. With its pronounced coupé-like silhouette and large rear hatch, the 4.95 m long, 1.93 m wide and only 1.40 m high vehicle is boldly progressive for the luxury class. The Audi Sportback concept derives its power from the world’s cleanest diesel technology, the 3.0-liter V6 TDI clean diesel almost completely eliminates nitrogen oxides. This concept car is expected to return with impressive fuel consumption figues of 5.9 liters of diesel per 100 kms.

“We have successfully exceeded our projected sales targets for two consecutive years and have strategically created a niche in the Indian automobile industry. Audi India immensely benefits from the state-of-art-infrastructure, modernised working processes, large pool of skilled personnel and favourable logistical conditions that AUDI AG provides. We will continue to provide unmatched quality to our customers in India, reflective of our philosophy of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’,” said Benoit Tiers.

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, showcased an array of models at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi.

New Audi Q7
Audi in India is on a roll. Audi is stepping on gas in India to close the gap between its German compatriots plying in the Indian car market. Audi India, which is a sister concern of the Volkswagen Group has seen a record 59 per cent of growth in 2009 selling 1,550 cars in this year compared to 974 cars in the last fiscal year. Audi India has continued to record strong growth all year around. In spite of the challenging market conditions, it has successfully managed to surpass the annual target of 1,500 cars.

The scene is quite indifferent in the global market as well. Audi AG has clearly close enough to fill the gap between the itself, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Mr. Benoit Tiers, Managing Director of Audi India is on cloud number nine with the robust sales performance of Audi. The sales target that the company had aimed at the start of the year has been far crossed. This itself indicated that Audi as a brand has arrived in India and Mr. Tiers attributes the robust sales of Audi cars in India to the core brand philosophy of Vorsprung durch Technik combined with the motivation provided by the record sales figures that has soared above the sales charts.

This remarkable progress for Audi India is attributed to the new models launch in the country in this year like that of the new Audi A6, SUVs Audi Q5 and the new Q7 and introduction of three new engines to the existing range of the Audi A4 assisted by expansion and openings of new dealerships in India.

The portfolio of Audi in India currently comprises of the new Audi Q7, the Audi Q5, the new Audi A6, the Audi A8, the Audi A4, the Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8 that are available at 12 dealerships across the country. Audi will also launch its new Audi A8 super-luxury sedan at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo which starts from Jan 4th 2010 and runs up till Jan 11th.

Who says stars do not guide the future? Audi has proved to the world that stars do play an important part in determining the fate.

Our stars, our dear Bollywood stars, are responsible for Audi’s sales in India. As a result, Audi is now looking at a 50 per cent growth in India this year.

Audi has been a favourite among the in the Mumbai film industry. Mega stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Bipasha Basu, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and many more are in favour of the German luxury car maker.

Moreover, Audi has many other clients in India too which are not a part of the big Indian cinema company. But, the marketing head of Audi in India vouches that Mumbai filmdom is still an important market for Audi as it gives that extra boost for Audi’s market in India.

Salman Khan is the latest star who bought an Audi A8 for himself, while Neil Nitin Mukesh owns Q7, a recently launched SUV by Audi.

Audi Q7 can cost anything from Rs 63 –Rs 76 Lakh while an Audi A8 starts from Rs 71 Lakh and can go up to Rs 1 Crore in India. The company currently offers a bouquet of seven cars, including sedans, SUVs, coupe and sports cars. It is considering launching more models in the coming years.

To promote the brand, Audi India has been partnering with Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) for the last four seasons. WIFW provides an ideal platform for Audi to meet “right and influential” people who can become potential buyers.

Earlier this month, Audi organised an amateur golf tournament called Quattro Cup.

This was the second tournament sponsored by the company and the finals were held in Hyderabad and the winners will be taken to Sydney in December.

New Audi Q7
Move aside BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Audi is here (with a bang). German Luxury car manufacturer, Audi has been making its presence felt in India ever since it first came to the country.

The German company when first started its operations in India though had high hopes on the Indian market, never probably thought that it will be welcomed by its Indian customers with arms wide open.

Audi posted its best-ever sales results of 205 cars for the month of September 2009, thereby registering an extra-ordinary growth of 153 per cent considering it sold 81 cars in September 2008. Now that’s called growth.

Audi’s chief boss here in India Mr. Benoit Tiers is indeed a happy man. Beaming with pride while looking at the sales charts for the month of September, he says Audi India has continued its growth momentum pretty well. He also is pleased that Audi as a brand has finally arrived as brand Audi is getting popular amongst the car enthusiast in India.

Audi always raised the ante in terms of refinement, elegance and luxury in keeping with its philosophy of “Vorsprung durch Technik” and it is this commitment that has won the confidence of Audi customers.

Audi India has recorded strong growth all year around in spite of the difficult market conditions. The year-to-date growth stood at an impressive 72 percent (Jan-Sep 2009: 1,333 cars; Jan-Sep 2008: 777 cars).

Much of the credit for Audi’s unhindered progress in India goes to the terrific response to the new additions to its portfolio – the all new Audi Q5, the new Audi A6, the introduction of three new engine offerings to the Audi A4 and the new Audi Q7 which was launched in September 2009. Audi India has already surpassed last year’s annual sales of 1,050 cars by recording a total of 1,128 car sales in the period of January to August 2009.

The entire Audi model range, comprising the new Audi Q7, the Audi Q5, the new Audi A6, the Audi A8, the Audi A4, the Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8, is available at 12 dealerships across the country: in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Kochi.

New Audi Cars Logo
Wishing a very Happy Centenary to Audi!!! The Luxury car manufacturer Audi has completed 100 years in the competitive automotive world. It is among the few car manufacturers to have attained the 100 mark. The others who are in this elite club are General Motors and Ford. Audi in India is a strong player in the luxury car market of India. The cars are well known worldwide for their captivating looks and exemplary performance.

Audi’s glorious history was started in 1909 by an enterprising German engineer August Horch. The company traces its origins even further back to 1899, when after having worked for few years with Carl Benz, Horch set up his own company. However, he was thrown out of his own company in 1901 by his partners. This was also the years that Horch launched his first cars.

In 1902 he formed his own company but then his partners threw a legal spanner in his plans. Horch could not use his name for his new company, as it was used by his previous company. When Horch lost a legal battle to them, he learnt that the Latin translation of the name Horch (meaning listen) was Audi. Hence on July 16, 1909 he established a new company called Audi.

Audi cars began it success run with the Type A model powered by a 22 bhp, 2.6L engine. Horch raced this car and gained immense success. In 1913 he created the first Audi saloon the Type C Alpine Victor. It helped Audi gain notable success in motorsports. In 1920 Audi cars were the first to use left hand drive style. Audi made limousines and saloon with high quality engineering. Audi established its dominance in the European Automobile industry during the 1920’s.
New Audi A4 Cars in India
In 1932, four car brands amalgamated –Audi, DKW, Horch, Wanderer and came to be called the Auto Union. The four rings in Audi Emblem represent these four companies. The company had to stop the production of passenger cars during the WWII, and resumed its business in late 1940’s. After a brief ownership by Daimler-Benz, it was sold to Volkswagen which currently owns the company.

But it was Ferdinand Piech who joined them in 1974 who gave Audi its technological edge. It was because of Piech, Audi coined the corporate tagline ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ meaning Advantage through technology.

Audi brought in the technological changes in Automobiles. The Audi Type M, built in 1923, was the most expensive and luxurious car of its time. It featured four wheel brakes for the first time in an automobile. The next model Type R ‘imperator’ was the first to break the 100 horses barrier.
New Audi TT Coupe Cars in India
The DKW built in 1931 for the first time featured the front wheel drive for mass produced cars. In 1963 Audi displayed the Wankel Spider engine, the first in the series production car to be driven by rotary piston engine.

Audi was also the first to bring in aerodynamic changes to a car design. This helped Audi win several motorsports. Audi also pioneered the use of aluminum for car body and dropped the use of wooden car panels. Audi’s DKW was among the first to use two stroke engines for cars. In 1970’s Audi introduced Quattro engine technology with four wheel drive for the first time. This drive concept previously had only been used on trucks and off-road vehicles.
New Audi Q5 Cars in India
The Audi Quattro technology met with worldwide success in motorsports and was eventually adopted on the entire Audi range of vehicles. It has been continuously innovating since then to improve passenger car performance, comfort, and quality.

A lot of our present day car design owes its origins to Audi. Let us salute the magnificent spirit of Audi on this day- July 16, 2009.

New Audi A-4 Cars in India

Global economic conditions have still not relieved the car industry from its clutches completely. Though the market is seeing some modifications but there are no tangible signs of improvements. Audi made its entry to the Indian car market in 2006 and since then the company is doing wonders. And now Audi plans to sell about 1,500 cars this year targeting about 40-50% growth in the India. The company strongly feels that it has experienced good sales even in the time of recession and so looking to a bright future with confidence is something acceptable.

Brace yourselves! The Audi Q5 is planning to launch in the Indian car market by June 2009. The luxury car manufacturer has taken this strong decision of the new car launch despite the downturn in the market.

Though the Audi India stable is already enjoying the success of the Q7, the car manufacturer decided to offer a compact SUV to India for those so inclined. Audi Q5 was launched in Europe in 2008 with four versions but India will initially see only two variants. Similar to the Audi Q7, the Q5 will also offer both petrol (2L TFSI) and diesel (3L TDI) engines.

This luxury off-roader will be brought to India as a completely built unit. There is possibility of the Q5 being locally assembled in Audi’s Aurangabad plant, but the company first wants to ensure a good volume of sales or demand before taking up the task of local production.

Before the launch of the Audi Q5, Audi enthusiasts will get to see the all new upgraded version of the luxury sedan Audi A6.
