Karmic Experience on Wheels
India and its old warehouse is gradually becoming a hot time favourite for everyone. Any guesses, what does the old warehouse means? Yes, we are talking about the old Ambassador. Two Hong Kong policemen, Tim Worrall and John Morgan, will soon drive to India to embrace a karmic experience behind the wheel. These two policemen are planning to ride a 37-horsepower Amby through some of the most challenging terrain in country, the toughest city roads, and the reserve forests of the country. They are just trying to be adventurous by embarking on this exciting journey to join 50 teams from around the world. All these teams are organizing a car rally that will raise money in charity. The revenue collected by this rally will be used for projects in south India and Britain. The Karma Enduro Rally is for a good cause and the best part is that the old Indian warehouse will be a part of this noble cause. So, what does this indicates? Amby has still not lost its foothold in the country. It still rocks on Indian roads and for a good cause. Labels: Ambassador, Indian-roads

Amby Has Its Own Charm
With the advent of new cars loaded with luxuries and amenities, the faith of the old Ambassador was lost in India. Earlier it was the only choice for people when people think of cars but today a number of luxurious and advanced cars in all segments are available in the Indian car market. The wide choice of cars has imposed people to move away from the Ambassador. This king of yesteryear was gradually pushed out of contention. But…it’s surprising to know that the Amby still holds its own charm. Nowadays, the old iconic car is becoming a hot favourite for expatriates working in the corporate sector of India’s IT hub. In the past couple of months, 6 Hindustan Ambassadors have been sold to foreigners living in Bangalore. Foreigners in Bangalore feel that the Amby is an attractive car with a rich history. They just bask the glorious ride in this old car. Labels: Ambassador, Hindustan-Ambassadors, Indian-Car, New-Cars

Hindustan Motors Working to Boost Ambassador Sales
The Ambassador was the only car to be used as taxis, followed by small cars like the Indica. Today luxury cars like the Corolla, Benz, and Lancer are also being used to ferry government officials and local commuters who prefer luxury cars for enhanced comfort. With so many cozy cars equipped with innovative and advanced technologies, Hindustan Motors lost hopes to bring back the Ambassador on Indian roads. But today, the company has come up with fuel-efficient engines with petrol, diesel and CNG versions that meet the Bharat Stage 2 and Bharat Stage 3 emission norms. With a better fuel efficient engine, the company is sure that Ambassador will be back on Indian roads and become a good value proposition for the taxi segment. It is said that the company has made an investment of Rs. 60 Million to update the engines and is expecting to hit the sales target of 12,500 units this fiscal year. Definitely food for thought. Mitsubishi plans new models every six months
There was a time when introduction of a new model took years in India. Going down the memory lane, we could find that Ambassador actually rolled out only one model till late 90’s and Fiat had only two models for India for over twenty years. When Maruti came in the early 80’s it revolutionized car industry, but new models were not forthcoming. But now the time seems to be changing so fast that if you blink you could miss a model. Going a step ahead and breaking all records, one of the most successful sedan manufacturers, Mitsubishi has now decided to launch one new model in India every six months. They are even planning to introduce the sophisticated SUV Outlander in few months, which will be manufactured in India. It seems launching of new small cars, luxury cars, SUVs and sedans within span of short period may soon become a trend among car soon become car manufacturers. Amazing Ambierod!
Everybody knows that Ambierod is inspired by Ambassador, but the similarity stops at its exterior. Did you know that it will come fitted with a menu driven LCD screen, where movies and internet can be accessed with the click of a button, and a camera is fitted instead of the usual side mirrors? The driver gets to see the rear and side view on a display monitor. Hold it, there is more! Since Ambierod is going to be chauffer driven, the rear seat comfort has been given special attention. The rear seat passenger (owner) also gets a foot stool that is fitted in place of a front passenger seat. It was the most expensive car showcased at the recent Auto Expo in Delhi. Ambierod’s designer, Dilip Chabbria, has got Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt to unveil it. Hope that the Ambierod goes on to become the king of road just like the Ambassador. After all, I am still a softy for oldies! Labels: Ambassador, Improved interior features, New Car, New look

Fiat’s back in India
Fiat is coming back and with a bang! The company has lined up seven launches spread across 24 months. The company has re-started production in its plant in Ranjangaon, Pune. The releases over the next two years will be the popular European two-door CBU Cinquecento, the best seller Linea saloon, 5-door Bravo, Palio diesel version, Grande Punto, Alfa Romeo, and the best known sports car Ferrari. At one time India had known only two car makers-Ambassador and Fiat. The flood of new cars almost drove the two auto companies off the roads. It will be a treat to the eyes to see so many Fiats’ rolling over the Indian roads again. Fiat has decided to push its products by combining old goodwill with an aggressive approach.
