Hyundai India has unveiled the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Fluid for the Indian market at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. This will be positioned in the E – segment and will replace the Sonata Embera. This car is definitely going to challenge the likes of the Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb. It features Hyundai’s fluidic design philosophy.
The Hyundai Sonata Fluidic sedan will be powered by a 2.4 litre engine. This engine uses Hyundai’s gas direct injection technology which involves directly spraying fuel charge into the combustion chamber and helps to boost power, fuel economy and engine response while cutting down on tail pipe emissions. This engine has a peak power output of 201 Bhp and a peak torque output of 255 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6 speed gearbox, manual or automatic transmission depending on the liking.
The new Sonata Fluidic will be manufactured in India at Hyundai plant in Chennai which will help Hyundai to curtail the price and make it more competitive for the Indian market. The rumor mills are suggesting the price would be somewhere between Rs 16-18 Lakhs. At this price, the Sonata Fluidic can be a good seller although we never know whether the lack of a diesel engine in the Sonata’s portfolio may affect the sales majorly or not. The official pricing for the Sonata Fluidic will be announced soon.
The Hyundai Sonata Fluidic is loaded with many features such as the projector HID xenon headlamps, luxurious interiors, Cruise control, Paddle shifters, 10 way power seats with lumbar support for the driver and a 4 way adjustable seat for the co driver, smart key with push button start.
Hyundai Sonata Fluidic is equipped with many safety features which include ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD, ESP(Electronic Stability Program) and 6 airbags. A reverse guide camera is also present.
