Indian fans of Mitsubishi Evo X have been waiting for a long time to see some real action on the Indian roads. And to that end, Mitusbishi Motors Corporation has announced the launch of the Evo X sedan in India this year. Mitsubishi is planning to restructure its current set of models in India. The car would be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) in India and believed to have completed the homologation at ARAI.The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400 is currently the fastest version of Mitsubishi’s motorsport derived machine. The car features the lightweight aluminum 2.0-litre turbocharged MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) petrol engine and generates 403bhp and 387lb.ft of torque. The Evo can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in a mere 3.8 seconds. And at places where it is permissible, the Evo can make your ride as fast as 250kmph.
Mitsubishi’s official spokesperson has also confirmed of the upcoming launch of the Evo X sedan. He said, “Yes, the story is true and we will be launching it in a CBU form later this year. All details will be shared later.”
Speculations are rife that the standard equipment for the Lancer Evolution X model would be comprehensive, inclusive of Bluetooth hands-free telephone connection, a CD-tuner with 30 Gig hard drive, DVD satellite navigation and privacy glass. Other convenience features like emote central locking, automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers are also expected to be featured in the car.
The Mitsubishi Evo is the dream car for most of the speed freaks. It is a rare four-door saloon that also carries the handling and performance standards of a supercar. The price range of the car is not revealed, but it is expected to be around Rs 30 lakh or more. Mitsubishi is aiming for sales of 100 units or less for the car. The price seems like a dampening factor, but you can never be sure about the inclinations of the car loving rich Indians. But considering the performance of the car, the Evo X may catch the fancy of the wealthy speed maniacs.
Currently, Mitsubishi offers two of its sedans in India, Lancer and Cedia.
