Nissan Motor Company, has grand plans set for India. It is just not concerted with its recent face lifted launch of the Nissan Teana and X-Trail.
Nissan has forged 3 joint ventures with Ashok Leyland, for making LCVs, its powertrains, as well as developing its new technology, is looking to enter the minivan market along with the foresaid Commercial Vehicle maker in India with NV200 Vanette.
Nissan NV200 Vanette is very much in tune with the Premier Rio, as it will be a small one in the offering. It will be almost as long as a Toyota Innova, and much taller, the NV200 or X11M as it is internally known, will be powered by a version of the Renault Logan’s 1.5 DCI diesel (or K9K as Nissan calls it) or a 1.6 litre HR16DE engine, which incorporates variable valve timing and is combined with a four-speed automatic transmission. But the transmission change could be speculated for the Indian version.
The motor makes an increased 85bhp and this vehicle will use the greater efficiency of its car-like platform to position itself as the most efficient vehicle in its class.
The NV200 Vanette is said to be based on a stretched version of the same Renault-Nissan Alliance B platform as the Renault Logan and promises to be more efficient than the Innova, which has a heavier body-on-frame construction. The driver gets to llok at a two-tier instrumental panel and the van could get a 5-seater or seven-seater configuration and the seats can be folded down for added versatility. The price and other details could not be ascertained yet.
It may be recalled that the Nissan NV200 – a small new commercial van that Nissan recently launched in Japan – has been awarded the International Van of the Year (IVOY) 2010 by a jury consisting of 23 specialised European journalists, who together represent a readership of more than half a million owners of commercial vehicles.
The Nissan NV200, which will also be launched in India in the next few years, offers a load area of 4.2 cubic metres. The minivan will also be equipped with fuel-saving measures like electric power steering, a shift light indicator set for maximum efficiency and low-rolling resistance tyres. Nissan claims vertical space has been very effectively used as the seats are upright and no space has been lost to a dedicated ladder chassis.
