All-New Maruti Suzuki Eeco

Clearing the clouds of doubts over the replacement of the Versa, Maruti Suzuki has declared the inception of the Eeco.

India’s number one car maker has phased out the Versa Multi-purpose Vehicle (MPV) some time ago and all car lovers were speculating a replacement for the MPV.

Maruti Suzuki disclosed the Eeco as “India’s answer to a family car” and the replacement of the Versa. It has been built on the Versa platform. It is truly a family car in the ‘great-Indian-family way’, with a two and three rows of seats making way for five to seven persons respectively.

The Eeco is a 5-door car placed in the C-segment. It is expected to be highly fuel efficient that comes with a BS IV compliant 1200 cc engine that car derive 73 bhp, and a torque of 101 Nm.

The dual tone interiors in shades of beige and grey provide a rich and spacious feeling to the car. Since it is a passenger-oriented car, the seats have been especially designed with integrated head-rest to make ride comfortable. The sliding doors make entry and exit hassle-free and the digital instrumental cluster adds to driver’s convenience. The Eeco will be displayed at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo.

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco will compete head on with the recently launched compact SUV Premier Rio.

Maruti Suzuki expects to sell about 40,000 units of the Eeco in the first year. Moreover, the company may come out with a cargo version of the Eeco depending on demand. The price of the upcoming Eeco is likely to start at Rs.4 Lakh.
