What colour do you prefer on your car? Red, blue, black or green?
“No.” Perhaps aqua, olive, orange or white? “Give me silver.”
To own a car painted in silver is the latest fad these days. A recent study has found out that silver is the most popular choice for car buyers. In fact, shade of silver and grey actually topped the list of most loved car colours. Besides, a quarter of the new cars sold in the Unite States last year were silver.
White was second at 18 per cent, while black was third. This data come from PPG industries, the leading manufacturer of automotive paints. The company is also involved in tracing the annual buying patterns of car shoppers.
In a press release, PPG points out that the preference for silver car colour rules the markets of Europe, Asia and Australia. In Asia, 34 per cent of the cars being sold are in silver and grey. In Europe, silver and charcoal coloured cars made up 35 percent of the market.
Silver is the most favourite colour on car as silver looks great on any car. The silver colour can show off all of the contours and lines of the car with integrity and can help people blend into the crowd.
Looking back, fifteen years ago, only 8 per cent of the cars were in silver and the hot favourite colour of that time was green at over 20 per cent. So, it can be said that the precedence for silver will not last forever.
Changing patterns in the types of cars people buy may help change the monochrome colour palette. As more subcompact or B-class cars are introduced, brighter and bolder colors are favoured.
This is because a large percentage of those buyers are under 30 who are young and energetic and their nature reflects the colour they prefer. Moreover, the body designs of smaller cars can carry themselves well in brighter greens, yellows and blues.
Next time, think twice before you go to buy a car. Please break the monotony of silver.
You can try some fantastic new colour coat of lime green and burnt orange.
May be yellow, purple or even pink if you must….just not another silver car!
