This development is the result of a joint venture between a group hailing from Liverpool University and the Ford. The idea was create a technology that would be more dependable and proficient than current spark plug technology. The advantage of this laser technology is that, it will help the car to start faster especially in cold and damp seasons. Everyone experiences the trouble of starting the car on a cold morning. Now once the technology is all set to function, one can ignite the car very easily and in just one turn of the key.

Currently this technology is undergoing several tests in the laboratory until it reaches perfection and will be ready to use by the consumers. The laser rays will concentrate and will be can be diverted to multiple beams to give multiple ignition points and this in turn will result in better chance of ignition.

This will also help in better engine performance during the cold weather and also enhances fuel efficiency. Presently the engine is seen with the spark plug located at the top or bottom which often creates problem at time of ignition during the cold climate.
