Hyundai i40 is India-Bound

Hyundai, beaming with pride after the its much expected reception of i10 and i20 in the Indian car market, is now contemplating to launch a new car named i40 in India by 2010. The Korean automotive giant believes that the new generation cars would be ideal for the fast growing Indian market.

Hyundai Sonata is likely to be replaced with the Hyundai i40 as it happened in Europe. The new Hyundai i40 can also be treated as the updated version of the existing sedan. The i40 will initially be launched in an estate body style, with a saloon version to follow in 2011.

The i40 is going to be a very sleek and elegant car. It is believed that many of the styling cues seen on the Hyundai Genus concept from the 2006 Geneva show has been implemented on the styling of Hyundai i40. Hyundai i-40 is believed to be based on an all-new platform which will underpin other future Hyundais and Kias.

With this car, Hyundai intends to move from its “Value for Money” positioning, to a manufacturer of “desirable” cars that are high on style quotient. The Hyundai i40 will be launched with its next-gen 2.0 Litre CRDi engine.

The entire range of i-series cars from Hyundai will be rolling into India soon. Hyundai is the second largest car manufacturer in India. Hyundai has been competing in the small and premium car segment with Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors.

  1. Hyundai cars like Santro, i10 and i20 are huge success in India. Other cars from Hyundai stable like the Getz, Verna, Accent, Sonata, Tucson had to struggle to make a place. In spite of this, Hyundai is the second largest carmaker in India. When is the i30 coming? What is the expected price of the i40?

  2. Hyundai Santro, i10 and i20 are some of the best selling cars in India. Now with the two new i20 cars, Hyundai is going to be the number one beating Maruti Suzuki. It is heard that i30 and i40 are coming to India soon. But when?

  3. Hyundai seem to expand its i-series.i 10 is doing extremely good in India and so is i20. it was just couple of days back the company introduced the diesel version of i20.I had also read somewhere that i30 (i dont know which segment it belong to) too is expected on the Indian roads. It is good to know that a new model is coming but as said by you it will replace Sonata. But which model of it ? because the car manufacturer has both Sonata Embera and Sonata Transform.

  4. Aw, this was a very top quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to generate a excellent article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and in no way seem for getting a thing done.
