New Mercedes S-Class Car in India

Mercedes-Benz
India has been the pioneer of the luxury car market in India for many decades. Period. The three-pointer star always was seen as a symbol of style and wealth. Even Now the name Mercedes holds a holy halo like no other car in India.

But it now appears that the spell is likely to be broken by fellow German luxury car manufacturers such as BMW and Audi. In the first quarter of this fiscal year, BMW and Audi sales scaled the peak, so high, so that they were very close to overtaking the Mercedes numbers. BMW sells nearly 3,000 cars in a year and Mercedes is just ahead of it by only 537 cars.

If this trend goes on Mercedes could soon loose its coveted position to its German rivals. Whether this issue will be taken seriously by Mercedes-Benz is something everybody in the automotive circles has been prodding. But car buyers in India are increasing getting younger. They want cars which offer fun, style and performance. They are no more looking at cars like a royal possession, but as an extension of their own personality.

More Indian achievers are going for sports cars. Looks at the way Porsches, Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s have achieved a market base which was unthinkable a decade ago. The increasing awareness about the BMW and Audi technologies like the Quattro engines too have played a part in increasing sales of these cars.

BMW, Audi and Mercedes all entered India at the start of the decade. Then it was difficult to imagine that Mercedes could be dislodged within a decade. But that seems to be happening for real. Mercedes needs to wake up to the competition and bring in some of its sportiest cars to the country.

India is becoming a hub for luxuty cars like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Ferrari and many more. It is nice to know that BMW sells nearly 3,000 cars in a year and Mercedes sells 3,537 cars. The demand for high-end cars are growing and thus the Indian car market is growing.

I was really shocked to know that the old player of luxury cars Mercedes-Benz is is lagging behind. It used to be the number one player in the luxury segment in India. Earlier somewhere is read that BMW has crossed its position and now even Audi is ahead of it. Now it is high time that the German car maker to think of some ways to buckle up to retain their position.
