Suzuki Alto Celebrates its 30th Anniversary

The newly launched A-Star is though only few months old in India, it is rejoicing a presence of 30 years in the international car market. The car is named as Alto in the foreign market that has provided an affordable mass mobility for years.

In the year 1979, Osamu Suzuki (Chief executive officer of Suzuki Motor) conceptualizes a car with a cheap price tag for common masses that becomes realty with the birth of the Alto. The car is successfully running in the global market with the same fundamentals. The first Alto made its debut with a 500cc engine and in just one month nearly 1500 cars were sold. Alto set a new benchmark in the small car segment and despite many new entrants, the car still holds its position in the segment.

The success of the Alto is not limited to its native, it also spread its tentacles in other car markets. With the passage of time, the car witnessed many generations and each generation saw a new makeover of the car. Suzuki Alto’s 30 years of long journey fetched the car as well as the brand several appreciations and accolades. Such a long stay of the car in the highly competitive car market is worth praising.

  1. It is unbelievable that A-star has a such along history. This means that Suzuki Alto is definitely people's car. This is really a good piece of information and i am sure there will be very few who actually knows that A-star is called as Alto in global markets.

  2. I completely agree with the Mr Pal. I really did not know that A-star is called as Alto abroad. With such a strong history now one thing is sure that A-star is definitely a reliable car.
