Nano is still under continuous talks and conversations. And at a time when black and yellow taxis on Mumbai streets are ready to be replaced by black and yellow Santro, Bangalore streets are hoping to witness replacements of black and yellow autos by Nano.
There are many autos plying on Bangalore roads and now the auto driver union in the city is discussing the feasibility of replacing autos with safer Nanos. And if you deeply think over it the option is not bad. Infact both autos and Nanos have almost a similar running cost that accounts for an approximate of Rs 7/km. And above all the cost of the Nano pushes more and more auto drivers to opt for the world’s cheapest car.
There are many other factors that have prompted this line of thought. Apart from offering a safer ride Nano would also offer a cost-effective and comfortable ride when compared to an auto rickshaw.
Now the question remains would Tata Motors allow its legendary car Nano to be painted in black and yellow. If yes then the Bangalore streets would be packed by black and yellow Nanos. But still it’s a long way to go because this kind of replacement is possible only after the Nano production starts in full swing in the Gujarat facility.

Frankly speaking I am not much happy with the Santro replacing taxis in Mumbai. But replacing autos with Nanos would definitely be a smart move. Nano is much safer than the autos and even the drivers will be relieved from the pain of riding the autos the whole day even under severe weather conditions.
Replacing autos with Nanos in Bangalore will definitely be a great option. There are no taxis in the city and by introducing Nanos in the form of autos they will work as taxis with almost a similar fare for every journey and will provide more safety as compared to the autos.
Ford has jumped into the burgeoning urban car segment with both feet at the Beijing Motor Show with the Start concept. The design study was developed to look at ways of building a smaller, more affordable car using fewer raw materials. The structure is a combination of aluminum and high strength steels to keep weight down without sacrificing safety, while the body panels are made from recyclable composites that already have the color molded in, eliminating the need to paint.
