Era of Maruti 800 Comes to an End

Maruti Suzuki’s bread-and-butter car ‘Maruti 800’ will see back stage after running successfully for 25 years on India roads. Though sounds shocking yet it’s true that the car manufacturer has decided to bring the curtains down for India’s first people’s car. This decision by Maruti seems to be unrealistic especially at the time when the new century people’s car ‘Tata Nano’ has hit the showrooms. This is a time when Maruti would have competed with the Nano with an upgraded version of the Maruti 800.

But the decision to phase out the Maruti 800 is viable because with new and tighter emission norms entering the Indian car market, it would be difficult for Maruti to keep the 800 stable on roads. Even the Omni may find obstacles to survive in the market after the BS IV emission norms get applicable.

From next year BS IV emission norms will be applicable in almost 11 cities across the country. So the M800 and the Omni will be phased out in those cities. But in other cities people will still be able to drive the 800 as the new emission norms will take some to enter. Maybe by 2016 both the highest selling Maruti cars will be completely phased out from the Indian car market. And this will definitely change the faith of Indian car market.

No yaar. I don’t think so that Maruti is making a wise decision by phasing out the 800. It can really be a very good competitor for Nano and above all its is India’s first people’s car that has continuously undergone modifications and changes to meet the changing aspirations of car buyers in the country. this small little car has won many hearts and I don’t think that it should eb phased out.

I personally feel that Maruti has taken the right decision. These days so many new cars are rolling out on Indian roads and all new cars will definitely be designed with the best of designs and packed with the best of technologies. And then I feel that Maruti 800 will stand no where. about the Omni even today the car is not doing well it has only restricted itself to school vans and goods transportation. You hardly get to see omni for personal mobility these days.

Maruti 800 which is the first indian car to carru compact design and style. It is a great family car and it is sad to know that the company is thinking of phasing ot the little but smart car.

Even if the era of M800 ends Maruti has another small baby of its own that is doing wonders in the car industry. Alto can be seen as an upgraded 800 that has comparatively better technologies and features. Yes the company's iconic car will be pushed out but there will be Alto to compete in the small car segment.

M800 is my first car and i have my emotions attached to it. It was there in all my good times and bad times. And now even after i upgraded my car with a sedan, i have not discarded by little car. The cute looking small car ruled the Indian roads for some time.
