New wannabe drivers in Kolkata who find learning driving on real roads a scary endeavour now have a reason to smile as the Automobile Association of Eastern India (AAEI) has introduced car simulator in the city. Car simulator gives learner an opportunity to learn driving indoor through scientifically designed lessons before the learner ventures out for an actual on road experience. It is already available in cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad.
The simulator looks and feels like an actual car with brake accelerator, steering, clutch, gear in place and three LCD’s. It is a computerized device that provides real-life driving experience. It also teaches the learner on how to drive on different terrains and climatic conditions.
There will be three instruction menus for training in driving comprising cockpit drill, basic and advanced training modules. The cockpit drill familiarizes the driver with inbuilt accessories in a car through graphics and pictorial representations which helps a student gain basic knowledge on driving. While the basic and advanced training modules teache vital things like starting the car, off-on, left turn, and u-turns. A lesson on traffic rules is also provided. Overall, it is going to be a great experience for new car drivers.

Its a good way of learning driving. I dont know much about simulator but I have read about it while I was browsing the Maruti Suzuki website.
The simulator is needed in every city of India, to help youngsters learn safe driving habits. Thanks Rakesh, for letting me know that Maruti Suzuki has taken interest in simulators. Since MS has driving schools all over India, they can start the new practice simultaneously in all their centers.
