The harsh financial meltdown, surging fuel prices, and the distressing market condition have not able to put back car manufactures’ plan to introduce the fuel guzzling premium SUVs into the Indian car market. Instead there is plethora of SUVs awaiting debut in the country.
Surprisingly, when the global recession has tremendously spreading melancholies across the globe dragging many big car companies towards bankruptcy, biggies like Audi, Porsche, General Motors, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, and Mercedes Benz are all set to bring SUV fever with their breathtaking premium SUVs in India.
Interestingly, at a time of falling car sales SUVs saw a positive growth in sales graph. The SUV segment also witnessed entry of new enthralling car models and variants like Tata Xenon, new variant of Safari Dicor, and Innova CNG.
Big, bold, and beautiful cars are the latest trend in the car industry. Premium SUVs with cutting-edge technology, stylish exterior and interior satisfying the needs are getting more popular among the Indian customers.
The long list of SUVs from different manufacturers waiting for launch proves their demand in the market. The Toyota Fortuner, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, Audi’s Q7, redesigned BMW X5, Audi Q5, upgraded Volvo XC90, and the Range Rover are some of the top awaiting launch in India.
Car industry is experiencing a gradual shift of trend from sedan and small cars to SUVs and it seems to get more prominent in the coming time with arrival of more premium SUVs in the country.

Yes its time for the sturdy and powerful SUVs. Most of the people are now preferring huge and luxurious SUV for themselves so that they can have a long and enjoyable journey with their family and friends.
With reference to the above – that's true for only a small part of the population. With half the country waiting for the Nano, you can understand what segment really drives India.
Ocksy cars like Nano may drive the Indian consumers but do you think that car will be a big hit in the country? I dont think so. Nano will definitely spark excitement amongsnt customers but it wont ever replace the existing worth and demand of the SUVs in the Indian car market.
I love SUVs. They are the best off-roaders that can travel in any terrain. Along with power, they also carry style and features. I recently purchased Scorpio and must say it is an amazing SUV.
