
Seeing the enthusiastic response of the consumers, Hyundai has planned to introduce the diesel variant of its newly launched premium hatchback i20. Unlike the existing petrol i20 variants which carry 1.2 litre engines, the diesel variant will come with either in a 1.4-litre engine or in a 1.5-litre engine option. The diesel i20 model is already available in the European market with an engine size of 1.6-litre. But to avail the lower excise duty on compact cars, the company is planning to bring the car with lower capacity. Though Hyundai is already selling a good number of units than expected, it has decided to launch the diesel variant with a view to further accelerate the sales.
This car is of great significance to the Indian car industry as it is the first Indian built car that is been exported to the international markets. Inspired from the i30, the car was initially designed to woo and meet the demands of European consumers. But as Hyundai has shifted its small car plant from Korea to India, it is now also stressing on India’s market demand.
Hyundai i20 display a stylish look with a low slung grille, good large headlamps, and cool sporty round fog lamps. The interior of the car is also quite inviting with spacious cabin and flexible seating. The car is flavouring success in the Indian market due to its high reliability, uncompromising performance, and affordable price. The new variant also promises to deliver the similar performance with its fuel efficient and clean diesel engine.
