Looks like for couple of more years we have to enjoy the goodness of Renault through the Logan only as Renault’s plan to introduce new cars by 2010 into the Indian market has been put on hold.
Shockingly, it has even slowdown its investment plan for the Chennai plant for which the company has announced an investment of Rs 4,500 Crore along with its partner company Nissan. Earlier, Renault planned to roll out cars based on four platforms from the Chennai plant with a production capacity of 2 Lakh cars. While Renault halts its plan to roll cars from Chennai facility, Nissan revealed that it will continue working on the small car project and would definitely roll out the Micra from the plant.
Initially, Renault was planning to launch cars from almost every segment in India. Car models like the Megane, Sandero, Twingo, and the Laguna were in the list and were also displayed at the 2008 Auto Expo, New Delhi. But the recession infected car market has compelled the car manufacture to freeze most of its plans for now. However, it is speculated that the Megane and the Sandero models will make their entry in the scheduled date and these cars will be rolled out from the Nasik plant.
Renault’s plan for India is not completely withdrawn, it is just taking careful steps seeing the uncertain market conditions. There is every chance of witnessing Renault’s new cars once the market condition bounce back to normal.

This means that Renault wants to wait for another two years to strengthen its presence in the country. don’t you think then it would be too late for the company and till then many new car manufacturers will clutch the market share. Even Citroen is trying to grab the Indian market. Two years is a pretty long time to wait. Slowing down is acceptable but I don’t think that what the company plans is feasible.
It is just exactly as you said.
Thanks for this great article, This is exactly the thing I needed to read

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
