India to Witness Air Cars By 2010

We have been hearing about Air Cars since a long time. The concept of Air Cars were echoing a lot but the actual technology behind it was never revealed.

Now again it is speculated to come in India by 2010 or 2011 through a joint venture with Tata Motors. The Air Car will be launched in various variants having the seating capacity of two to six passengers. The first release of the car will be for the Air France company which is expected before June 2009 and will be commercial launch by 2009 end.

A unique feature of these cars is that they do not depend on any kind of conventional fuels like petrol, diesel or gas for their functioning. They are driven by only compressed air. Additionally, a new alternative technology has been developed by the company to generate power for the car which uses a combination of air and petrol, diesel or ethanol, just like the concept of hybrid technology.

World’s First Flying Car Takes Flight

A car that keeps swinging between a car and an air plane might be sounding unrealistic but its true that this incredible concept has taken its shape in the form of World’s first flying car. The first flying automobile is all set to take flight next month.

Christened as Terrafugia Transition and engineered by former NASA engineers, this flying car can surprisingly transform from a two-seater road car to an air plane in just 15 seconds flying up to 500 miles at a cruising speed of 185 km/h. Even more interesting is the process of transformation. When in air, the wings of the car unfolds automatically and while on road, they get folded in one integrated vehicle design.

What adds to the thrill is the fact that this car will run on normal unleaded petrol and designed with a size that can fit into any garage. But the price is exceptionally high with a tag of about Rs 9.7 million.

Its still eighteen months for the car to land in showrooms. Legally, as this car will only be allowed to take off from roads of Alaska, it is too early to say when this car will actually come into the Indian car market. Now, the question arises will people spend such a huge amount on a flying car. We think they will. Because with high pace of advancement and innovation, air travel will soon become practical for car buyers at a price that would soon beat driving.
