Maruti Suzuki’s Splash is speculated to debut in India by early 2009 with a new name.
Maruti is planning to rename its proposed small car Splash as Ritz. This car falls into the B+ car segment and is adorned with a host of advanced technologies along with futuristic interiors.
The company has not officially announced the change of name. We feel that even the thought of re-christening must be ushered with the thought of bringing some changes in the car. Yes, there are modifications, not only in name but also in the interiors.
The re-named Splash, Ritz, will be priced between Rs 4.5 Lakh to Rs 5.5 Lakh with brilliant styling and modern interiors. The car will be available in 1.2L petrol and 1.3L multi-jet diesel engine.
There may be also some changes in the car features. But that can only be known after the car actually makes it debut in the Indian car market.
Ritz? the name some how does not suit the car.Splash sounded better and matched well with the segment.Wonder why Maruti Suzuki renamed it.
No, but I found the name to be better than Splash. Maybe thename sounds strange to you is because you are not used to the word and you have always known this car by Splash. Maybe once it rolls out, you'll get habituated to the new name of the new car.
Maruti has put in some new additions in the car and so though of changing the name also. The name sound strange but do you know what does the term actually means? The term Ritz means a ‘display of ostentatious elegance’ and maybe the proposed car is so elegant that Maruti got tempted to change the name to something meaningful and significant.
But Himanshu, I heard that the name Splash is already registered with some other company. And that's why the company decided to change its name in India.
