Indianized Ford Fiesta

New Ford Fiesta Cars in India

Recession has got its hold around Ford’s throat. But still the company has the pedal to the metal. It plans to introduce the new generation of Fiesta based on the winning Mazda platform.

The new Fiesta is speculated to be seen on India roads by 2011. Eyeing the current domestic demand, the company is likely to improve the fuel efficiency of the new car compared to the present day Fiesta. Ford is much optimistic that the car with enhanced fuel economy and performance would do wonders for the company in India.

In addition, the company has taken a less expensive route to tune the old version with a sharp focus on driving pleasure. The company also has plans to localize the new car to about 80% in order to increase its appeal in India. But, unfortunately at this stage when the company is experiencing a severe financial crunch, it may not get the required funds for execution of the project.

So Ford is left with an option to reduce the percentage of localization as well as cost price of the car for the Indian market. The new agenda of execution would design and build the new Fiesta with about 25% of localization. It all depends mainly on the company’s ability to invest.

Ford has high hopes attached with the new Fiesta. If the operations are executed as per the plans and if the market situation is improved till then, Ford would also unveil a hatchback version of the current Ford Fiesta.

As the company is concerned about investment, there are less chances of 80% localization of the car. Because in order to do so, it may need about 100 million dollars, an amount which is economically not feasible.

Passat Gets Common Rail Diesel Engine

New Volkswagen Passat Cars in India

Volkswagen has introduced a new generation common rail diesel (CRDi) engine into its model Passat. It is speculated that the company is quietly moving away from its conventional Pump Duse (PD) engine technology to a more advanced common rail technology.

Volkswagen dealers in India have also liquidated their Passat stocks that possess the company’s traditional PD engine. The best part is that the change of engine technology has not brought any change in the car price.

The new generation CRDi has now become industry standards. And this has compelled the company to shift to the new engine technology. It is beleived that in terms of power output there is not much difference between the CRDi and the PD. Surely, there is a massive difference in terms of efficiency and performance between both the engines.

CRDi engine definitely has a winning technology behind its design, composition, structure, and performance that has supported it to gain popularity in the industry.

Green Signal to Sandero

Renault’s Sandero now gets a green signal to enter the Indian car market in 2009.

The car was supposed to be manufactured at Renault-Nissan’s new facility situated in Greenfield, Chennai. But due to the current downturn in the car market, both Renault and Nissan are not keen to start any new venture in the new facility. There were market speculations that even the production of the Logan was to be shifted to the facility in Chennai.

But now, after experiencing a severe backdrop, Renault plans to shift both the production to Mahindra’s facility situated in Nashik. Possibilities are there that the proposed Sandero could be built by Mahindra. The joint venture now even plans to produce Logan in the Nashik’s facility.

Sandero is a five-door hatchback with the basic features adapted from its sibling the Logan. The car is spacious, fuel efficient and light on pocket which makes its perfectly fit for the Indian market.

It is known that both the Logan sedan and the Sandero hatchback share most of the car components. Under the circumstances, producing both the cars in the same facility would make logistics easy. The joint venture may earn good profits by implementing these plans.

Cars that have experienced maximum sales are the small cars that account for about three-fourth of the total car sales in December. Car companies like the Hyundai and the Maruti Suzuki have gained maximum revenues from their pleasing small cars like the Alto and Santro. Talking about the sedans, the New Honda City has seen good demand among the consumers.

All these car manufacturers has received the gift they wanted. But, luxury car manufacturers like the Mercedes-Benz and the BMW are still in dark because of the high car finance rates. Car Manufacturers Awaiting New Year

As the current calendar year is now to end after a long period of woes and despair in the car market, Indian car manufacturers are now banking on the new year to bring some fortune in the industry.

December was to see various new car launches including the Fiat Linea and Mahindra Xylo. But the meltdown in the market and Mumbai terror attack pushed the launch of Linea and Xylo. But, is that really true? Some say the key reason for pushing forward the launch date of these cars is not the fear of recession but to compile a good inventory of cars across all dealers at the exact launch date. At this stage, its difficult to judge whether the fear of falling car market or preparing to have a stockpile of cars have forced them to postpone the launch.

New Cars in India
All we can say is that both these car companies have high hopes tied to their respective car models, now to be launched in January 2009.

The recent moves taken by the government with regards to reducing fuel prices and lowering excise duty was also believed to bring some relief to car manufacturers. But, unfortunately, the government was not successful in resolving the core issue of availability of finance to car consumers. So, the worries and despair stayed.

Companies like the Toyota, Audi, BMW, and the Hyundai are ready to launch their respective car models in the coming time. Though facelifted Innova, BMW 3-Series, and Audi’s A4 sedans with two new engine options are expected to come by next year, Hyundai i20 is likely to make its entry by December end.

With high hopes and aspiration, car manufacturers are actually waiting for the New Year splash. They all are aiming for elevated car sales and a better car market with the portfolio of car launches and advancements taking place in the upcoming year.

World’s First Accident-Proof Car

Car giant Volvo is all set to introduce the first ever crash-proof car. Sounds really interesting! Scheduled to make its debut in the Detroit Motors Show in January 2010, this car will be first of its kind in the global car market.

The car is supposed to be built with a radar and a sophisticated cruise control system that would control the distance between the corresponding car and other vehicles. The intelligent car will alert the driver by monitoring drowsiness or distraction. It will avoid imminent collision by auto-braking in situations the driver fails to react in the case of an accident. The system is designed to automatically monitor the car’s speed and detect any oncoming obstacle ahead on the way. This is something incredible to believe but the pace at which technologies are advancing, something like this can be possible.

The best part of this new technology is that it would drastically reduce the rate of road fatalities that is about 100,000 per annum in India. And even more across the Indian boundaries.

The technology would be first seen in the Volvo S60. With this, car owners can have a relaxed and pleasurable drive with a strong belief that no one in the Volvo car can be inured or killed.
