Tata Motors has already shifted its dream Nano project from West Bengal to Gujarat after experiencing the aftermaths of land issues in Singur. In Sanand, near Ahmedabad, the company has started pre-construction work with an investment of about Rs 2,000 Crore.
In Gujarat, Nano is also set to be displayed at the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit 2009 (VGGIS) where a large number of domestic as well as global investors are expected to mark their presence. The decision to showcase the car in the summit may be in response to the lost significance of the world’s cheapest car.
Yes, the Rs 1 Lakh car was the talk of the industry when Tata announced the concept. Even when the car was displayed in the Delhi Auto Expo for the first time, it was appreciated by many car enthusiasts. But, gradually as the car launch date is continually delaying, Nano is loosing its charm among car consumers. All the consumers who were desperately waiting to buy the car are now moving away from the Nano and fixing their car buying decision on some other car model.
Tata may have thought that showcasing the car once again on a huge platform may bring back its lost customers attention and ensures them that the world’s cheapest car will roll with a bang on Indian roads.

Good that Nano is going to be displayed in Gujarat Summit. But when would the displaying end and the car actually would be found on Indian roads?
True, the aura created by Nano during the time of its launch is fading away day by day in this cold weather. The launch date is getting postponed. Hope it can regain its charm once again when it is launched. May be the time is not god for the TATA's now..
I dont think so that Nano wil again be able to regain its charm in the Indian car market. People have moved away form the car and many among those who wanted to buy the nano have ended up buying other cars. I know this because I am among one who had high plans to buy Nano but after a long wait i ended buying the i10.
If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
