There are speculations that a London-based car customization firm, Alchemy, is promoting its business by wrapping car roofs with 24-carat gold.
After the Gold Porsche and the diamond covered Mercedes-Benz, the trend of wrapping car exteriors with gold is heading ahead. But, we doubt whether car consumers will invest heavily in such a kind of customization. We wonder whether a gold plated car roof will lure customers or not.
Alchemy also excels in embedding gemstones in the gold panel. The company is demanding a high price for covering the cars with gold. Its may be exciting with a wonderful aesthetic appeal but not sure whether people would invest a high amount here or not. And even if they would, this era of downturn does not seem to be a right time for investing so much for just the exterior look.
These days’ car buyers are more specific about fuel-efficiency and performance. They are concern about the styling and visual appeal but not something like a gold plated car roof, at least not at this particular time.
I don’t think that the economic recession has anything to do with such kind of business. People who are born with a golden spoon in their mouth are not affected by any such situations. Far apart those who would love to have a gold plated car roof would belong to the affluent class of the society. If they want and if they like, they would customize their cars without even giving a though over credit crunch in the market.
Even I agree with what Shergil says. The liquidity crunch, the fall down of car market, and the hit of recession, how will all these affect the high-end business class people. If Alchemy is making an entry to promote its business, there is no right or wrong time.
Such a costly car customization. That too for car roofs?? May be for the who can actually afford such an expensive customization. I don't think any one will go for such an extra cost car customization.
It is a mere waste of money. I wonder who would go for it other than few of celebrities. What are we going to gain with the car roofs plated with gold. I think rather than coming out with such irrelevant ideas, they should come up with some innovative ideas.
