Small Car Boom in India

New Maruti 800 Cars in India

The first small car shinning in the history of Indian car industry is Maruti Suzuki 800. After that many small cars are introduced and some are still in line. After the hit of inflation, car manufacturers started taking a ride from the small car stable to maintain their foothold in the market.

As the race continues, the recent launch of Maruti Suzuki A-star has embarked a new journey for the small car manufacturers. But then too, the car won’t be able to rejoice a hassle free voyage on Indian roads with the presence of successful competitor like Hyundai i10.

A-Star is born with excellent blend of technology and innovation. The passion that drives the car is the path breaking technologies and Penta Drive that assures a smooth, passionate, and impressive drive. The car appears to compete with the i10 with its power and mileage. Both the cars generate more or less similar power output and fuel-efficiency, the two key factors driving the car industry today.

Amazingly, Hyundai i10 has been clocking good sales number with around 9000-10,000 units per month. With such a high selling number in the industry, it may be tough for A-star to just coup the success and win a crown.

But yes, if compare to Maruti Suzuki WagonR and lower version of Maruti Swift, A-star can cannibalize them. Unfortunately, the car would consume members of its own species and would face a tough time competing with leading small cars in India.

  1. In my personal opinion Maruti Suzuki A-Star will definitely beat the success of Hyundai i10. It’s just a few days the car has launched. Let the car start its journey on Indian roads and then see how it beats all small cars in India with its outstanding appeal, performance, and fuel-efficiency.

  2. You know I still like the old Maruti 800. Still not found any such car like that. One of the oldest and most reliable car in small car market. The latest version are even the better.

  3. A small car race is on the Indian auto market and on Indian roads, with the recession all are looking for fuel efficient and low cost cars, which obviously points to the small cars. Maruti Suzuki is yet to steal the show with its new launch A-Star,and the top guns in the run are Hyundai, lets see who becomes the pet of the crowd.

  4. We’re beginning to hear the first rumblings about the next round of updates to the Nissan GT-R, and if the rumors are to be believed, Nissan’s goal of keeping pace with the refreshed Porsche 911 Turbo (and its S sibling) will continue through the 2012 model year. As with its German counterpart, the R35 is expected to undergo a host of evolutionary changes, including some reworked aero bits, suspension and brake upgrades, and a retuned 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 that’s likely to output over 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
