Every day we hear of new car launches in India. The growing numbers is purely because global manufacturers have a strong belief that India is a highly potential market for cars with higher growth prospective.
As the numbers of new cars are zipping on Indian roads, Volkswagen also plans to launch its popular car model Caddy in India. The launch of the car is aimed at delivering low-cost taxi for urban use.
The desire to launch the car as taxi-cab is based on growing tourism industry in the country. Apart from that, many people today prefer commuting by taxis rather than driving their own cars. These commuters feel that the cost of oil required for travelling to a desired destination would be nearly equal to the fare of the taxis. So, this obviously calls for more need of better taxis in India.

Good news that Volkwagen is launching its car for taxi purpose. From the past 4 to 5 years i have noticed the taxis population is increasing tremendoulsy in India. And mainly i find Tata Indica that has been widely used for taxi purpose and also recently the Mahindra-Renault Logan is making wonders in the market. And when is the car launching in India???
Volkswagen Caddy, I guess a luxurious taxicab, right? It’s always better to have a drive in a taxi rather than getting pissed off in between traffic jams. Good to have increasing numbers of taxicabs in the country. I have also heard that Limousines taxis are also going to roll on Delhi roads. Is this true?
Yes Sejal, this is true that Delhi roads will soon be crowded with Limousine taxis. The government is putting special efforts to deliver better comfort to the tourists who are supposed to enter India with the Olympic Games, held in Delhi, in 2010.
