Season for Small Cars

Few years ago, driving to work and back home in sedans was very common especially among professionals and youngsters. During those days many sedans and SUVs were found on Indian roads as well as in parking spaces. But now the trend has changed.

The trend has shown a paradigm shift from sedans to small cars. Whether on roads or in parking lots, you’ll now find more number of small cars. Blame it on increased fuel prices, high car production cost, global recession, or ever-clogging traffic, the season for small cars is now here.

Many of you might have exchanged your fuel guzzlers with small and fuel-efficient cars. Not only the consumers but also the ecology is demanding small cars due increasing global warming.

Whatever the factors and reasons are, the fact remains that it’s a peak time for small cars.

  1. Yes, this is the actual season of small cars. People are moving ahead to buy more number of small cars because of the increasing traffic situations and the soaring fuel prices.

  2. Will the introduction of more small cars phase out the demand of sedans in the Indian car market?

  3. No, Kalyani it won’t. Though the small cars are about to revolutionize the Indian car industry, sedans will not phase out. People who prefer sedans and family cars will still go for sedans. Small cars are mainly targeted to middle class people who can’t afford much on time and even money when it comes to high fuel prices.
