Car trend in India has undergone drastic changes. Earlier people were only looking for various options and convenient car features before planning to buy a new car. However, today owning a car has become a status symbol and people not only look for cars with style, rich features and comfort but now they want more and more…
Moreover, the latest car craze is having an attractive and unique registration numbers. The fashion of auctioning premium vehicle registration numbers is becoming popular in India. People are ready to flow out the money just to get the fancy car registration numbers.
Recently, the Punjab state transport held an auction of a unique series of car registration numbers and it got an incredible response and large sum of revenue too.
Some of the interesting registration numbers sold with high price tags: 0001 number sold for Rs 70,000, 0002 went for Rs 80,000 and 0005 made up with for Rs 55,000.
The number that earned the maximum price to the transport department was the PB-11-AK-47, that carried an attractive price tag of Rs. 2.68 lakh and this heavily priced registration number was sold to a farmer from Ropar, as the number AK-47 attracted him. Looks like, this farmer friend is very much fascinated with weapons.
But is it necessary or worth spending so much on a registration number? Any ways… every individual carries some desire and this is one of its kinds!

Does this say that I can have any registration number for my new car? I mean any number of my choice?
No friend, it was only an auction of some unique car registration numbers. Yes, you could have got the desired number from the choice at the auction. But it does not cater to any registration number of your choice.
This is really surprising and shocking. People shell out their money just for registration numbers. They are really crazy for it. And i just cant understand that a farmer has spent in lakhs to get this peculiar number. I guess he is a rich farmer. Everyone feel that farmers are pretty poor in India and this one seems to be millionaire. And looks like if this auction is held in other states the transport dept gonna make good money.
Fancy numbers have always fascinated people. It's with a lump some amount that people own those numbers. The bidding starts and it goes to lakhs. Though for govt., it is a good mean to obtain outsized revenue with short span, but actually is it necessary to burn up one's wallet for flaunting??
