It has not been a month of the launch of the all-new Corolla Altis and there are speculations that Toyota is planning to launch a diesel version of the Corolla Altis for the Indian market.
The current model comes with 1.8-litre petrol. However, the diesel version if launched is likely to come with a 2.0-litre engine for the European market.
Toyota is working earnestly on the engineering changes to use the European Corolla’s diesel to the Altis. Toyota is also considering one more alternative, its smaller 1.4-litre turbo-diesel that powers the Yaris hatchback for the Corolla.
However there is no official confirmation of the launch of new diesel Corolla Altis but is expected to hit the Indian roads by mid-2009.
Like many other car manufacturers, even Toyota is stepping ahead and is launching the cars that suit the Indian car buyer’s needs.
